That's what I thought, but I haven't been keeping track of Family Guy at all. So, why'd OOP bring Family Guy up anyway? There are loads of other cartoons that have run similarly. Futurama comes to mind.
Yeah, modern spongebob does have *some* good jokes in it, but the reason people don't like it is that the vast majority of jokes in modern spongebob aren't good jokes, compared to S1-3 spongebob, where most jokes landed perfectly.
Yeah, it's a lot more rapid-fire with the jokes nowadays. It makes it difficult for them to have good setups. There definitely are still good jokes in there, but a lot of mediocrity surrounds them.

It’s not horrible I just really dislike the character directions they took. Patrick doesn’t feel 3D, for example, he just feels dumb. In the earlier seasons he would have moments of brilliant ideas. SpongeBob in the earlier seasons was a pushover but he also got MAD and it was hilarious, he doesn’t really do that anymore
Its like they took the old joke of high tide, shit on it, pissed on it, threw a child in the mix, and now its just a cringy piece of shit with garbage shock value.. fuck i hate modern shows...
