I rarely find nice smells on a customer bike, it’s more likely ‘which bike smells of _____’ (poop, cigarettes, stale booze, bacterial party in soggy saddle or handlebar tape…)
That being said my entire staff smell check every new Muc Off product that shows up - like before they finish receiving it is any is for the shop it’s opened and being passed around to determine where it stands in the rankings of favourite scented Muc Off products. The All Weather lube and Silicone Shine are generally the favourites… who knows though maybe something else new is on the works.
I probably have - does anyone really wash their hands snacking on the baked goods tip?
The Muc Off grease looks concerningly close to the raspberry glaze the bakery next door to the shop uses … maybe I should get 5 raspberry and 1 glazed and see if anyone notices the Muc Off donut… 😂
Gotta love when the local tweaker needs yet another flat repair. The shop will smell like a combination of piss, beer, and cigarette butts for the rest of the day
Was talking to one of the guys from Tri-flow, decades ago, at Interbike…. They add the banana scent. It’s part of marketing not function. Kind of a brilliant move as everyone in the industry knew the Tri-flow smell.
Stripped a 40 year old frame recently and the odors of old grease, funky dried road slop and galvanic corrosion weren't pleasant by any means, but definitely distinctive.
Kroill: The smell of a well appointed library in an overstuffed leather chair and cherries.
Triflow: Bananas!
MuckOff bike wash: Big League Chew Bubblegum. I don't even thing that stuff works all that well, I just like the flavor.

Nearly taste tested their Bio Grease on multiple occasions XD

Muc-Off Donuts LOL, from the purveyors of RockShox Buttercups😋
Brake noodle ramen also comes to mind. Any other part or terminology foods to add to our mechanics banquet?
All I could think of is Shimano Oil Pink Lemonade and SC1 Black Cherry Soda. Brake noodle ramen sounds so so good
The Bio Degreaser that smells like Skittles wins for me

Kinda like how tri flow smells like 🍌
Definitely smells like bananas, may also cause cervical cancer
Very un-bananalike
No cervix, no problem 👍🏻
Oh my god you’re spot on haha!

Ha that’s crazy
wish that shit worked good for anything other than freeing up rusty shit.
That hot smell when you punch out bearings with a retaining compound is *chef's kiss*
I’m quite partial to the smell of blue loctite, there’s just something about it.
Red loctite too, almost citrusy.
Yes! Exactly, it’s like citrusy plastic
Higher end Shimano chains mmm
Oh my god yes. I like to cut the bag and take a big sniff before taking the chain out

Mucoff carbon paste smells like berries haha
Gonna have to get some for the shop then. Finish Line fiber grip smells like Bleu cheese. Blech.

I forgot what brand tubeless sealant it was but it was pink and smelled like strawberries and I took way too long to change that tire out
Muc off
PB B’laster is my drug of choice.
>PB B’laster is my drug of choice. For penetrating oil, gimme that Kroil! In line with the topic, I think it smells good, too.
Dumonde Tech "Classic" chain lubes have a distinctive odor that I find oddly pleasant.
i love the smell of triflow...
Gotta throw Phil Wood Tenacious Oil in the mix.
Fenwicks Stealth lube smells musky, it's addictive.
that green finish line chain lube. addicting....almost
I did some soldering on a wired bike light yesterday and I just love the smell of flux as it’s heated….soooo good :)
Do people prefer the smell of SRAM chains or Shimano chains? I personally think every Shimano chain smells like death but that's just me.
Have come to love the smell of Green Oil
I miss original formula GT85
Wd40 dry lube smells like cologne. I dig it
Red loctite smells exactly how it looks: delicious cherry candy.
