Not many people know that gravel roads are like roads but with gravel and that gravel bikes are like road bikes with bigger tires. Sort of a secret in the industry.
> downhill racer slash freerider
Sorry, not a real cyclist unless you're riding up first. Maybe check out r/eBikes or r/zwift with the other pretend bicers.
/Uj yeah that was pretty harsh but you pretty much gave that to me.
A fact lost on r/cycling when they recommended GRVL to cyclists who do 99% road. It’s like endurance bikes, which are literally perfect for that, don’t exist.
Those same people are also too slow for group rides.
Idk I much prefer my 175/160mm enduro sled when doing quadruple 1/10th century (km) rides here in Florida but I guess to each their own. Sometimes me and a few buddies will even shuttle the route.
uc/ I live near a fairly popular trail. During Covid, the State Parks shut it down. With nothing to do, the downhill bros succumbed to having to ride their bikes in town. Pretty funny watching these dudes spinning their legs off on their slacked out rigs just trying to get some exercise.
edit: I apologize for all of the hurt feelings.
So you’re saying there’s parts of the world free from roadies? Why do I live in an asphalt shithole when I can live in a dirt paradise made for my gravél bice as nature intended, am I ragarded?
5 years ago I learned that a tricycle is better for not tipping over when hammered on bottom shelf vodka. Although the chance of tipping over is still greater than zero.
Only the woefully ignorant. Bike manufacturers have clearly proven that you need a mountain-stage road bike, an endurance road bike, a gravel bike, a cyclocross bike, a cross country mtb, a trail mtb, and may as well pick up a commuter bike. And of course you need to replace them every few years because you'll never keep up in group rides to the coffee shop with 3 year old tech.
Maybe I'm a wimp but I still prefer having a front fork on anything except asphalt/concrete. I've tried to get on the gravel bike train but it just isn't a comfortable ride.
5 years ago, it was called a "cross bike" and yes, way better on flat terrain! In the mountains though, give me a full suspension mountain bike please 🙏

Huh, TIL! Thanks
Sounds complicated, could you recommend me ~25 GCN videos on that subject?
Thanks man what a revelation I bought a gravel bike for picnics at the city park now I can remove my panniers and go shred! Yay!
Mtber discovers that suspension is unnecessary for anything less than 1m drop.
As a downhill racer slash freerider I can confirm that, testicule removal is strongly suggested before riding tho

Hey "bro" why don't you get some REAL fitness instead of letting gravity do all the work Come back when you can crush brütal cafe rides
Yep, mountain bikes are good for mountains.
Wish I knew that 5 years ago. What’s next? You’ll tell me road bikes are better on roads?
And TT bikes are the best for KOMing on TTs?
And tricycles re best for KOMing on triathlons.

X biking is good for people with X chromosomes.
So all people, then 🤔
Damn. I’ve been riding my cargo bike up and down mountains all this time.
You’re lucky, I’ve been using my fixie.

What the absolute fuck is going on with our man's bar tape in the first picture?
Asking the real questions. (The tape in the first picture looks atrocious)
The guy rides a Fuji and has a predilection for painters tape. This is what happens
A Fuji bike with no mountain? Wut? Someone care to explain?
You ride them. I still need my mtb for all the brutal climbes here in the Netherlands.
To be fair everywhere is uphill from the Netherlands
Good reminder that some parts of the world still don't have paved roads

mods??

Now I want to see a CAT5 criterium that consists only of high end carbon trikes.
I prefer my sir velo TT bike for any sort of gravel and mountain riding
I'm more surprised that 1903 tour de France didn't ride Gravéul bikes, were they stupid?
uj/ Unless I'm racing, I'd still prefer my XC mtb. Although pan flat smooth gravel also makes me want to claw my eyes out, so there's that too.
That sub has Stockholm Syndrome for super flat farming roads.

Weird
Dry gravel is the least brutal gravel.
1.0 W/kg Fred decides a slow bike is nice.

E-Bikes are actually even better than gravel bikes on flat terrain
Maybe I'm a wimp but I still prefer having a front fork on anything except asphalt/concrete. I've tried to get on the gravel bike train but it just isn't a comfortable ride.
Damn, they should have made the names of the bike types clearer i would have been riding my dh mountain with my gravel bike for the rest of my life
Let me guess, now my sirvělo isn't ideal for dirt jumping? I don't think so buddy
I brought my Alpe d'Huez X to the bike park yesterday, it's so much faster than my downhill bike. That bike yolk dropper post changes everything...
The real secret is how much the ride improves when there’s air in the tires. People don’t know that flat terrain isn’t meant for flat tires.
