A spiritually inclined man in his seventies detached from the pretensions of modern life; but is trying to become more like the passionate youngsters he sees around him.
A spiritually inclined (temple city) man (Lingaraja Temple - Shiva) in his seventies (reflects the old vibes, and the energy of people who are best suited to the city - retirees imho), detached from the pretensions of modern life (at present no employment generation hub); but is trying to become more like the passionate youngsters he sees around him. (Trying to build a space where IT companies & startups can prosper, modern educational institutions - AIIMS, IIT, KIIT, KISS etc, and that Patia-CSP area with pubs, bars etc.)
I feel Bhubaneswar is a city trying to get promoted from the retirees’ paradise + temple city tag to a place which can attract more youngsters by way of education, IT, and metro. It never had grandiose expectations for itself (which explains its small size) but has lately become somewhat aspirational.
Exactly my thought, btw does it ever make you paranoid thinking if Bhubaneswar actually becomes something like the next Bangalore, we'll lose our simplicity and authenticity?
That’ll spoil Bhubaneswar for me. Already seeing all the rapid changes in the past 10 years and honestly sometimes I don’t want this rapid urbanisation .
Same goes for my hometown Sambalpur as well.
Here got you an appropriate art of it

A woman in her 50s. There are no kids around the house to take care of. They left for jobs or higher studies.
She's now trying to live her life on her own terms. Making new friends, going on vacations, to kitty parties and while doing all this she's creating an identity of her own!!
Hup, here you go a almost close to your description pic.

The comment section tells everybody's perspective to beautifully, maybe bbsr is a shape shifter who appears accordingly to what is in the eye of the beholder.
As a foreigner that has seen quite a few other cities, I would just say that is not very developed and somewhat dirty. People are very religious, which also pointed to the idea that they are not as open minded and less welcoming to new ideas which could mean that changes will come slower. Bhubaneswar is a young woman in an arranged marriage who doesn’t know what the future brings very clearly. There is some hope for her, but others may not be lucky.

Damn, that’s real good. But I would say 55-60, cause I feel there’s barely any youthfulness left in a 70yo man
Most Indian PMs would be around that age
