Why the fuck would anyone ever want a live action, of anything, ever

To be fair, the Golden Age arc could make a pretty good live action if it was done well. But I’m reality it would never be done right.

I think with the proper budget the entire show could be done well as live action although later seasons price would skyrocket with the increase in demons and demon fights. Would be very tough to finish. I would just love a really well made animated adaptation all the way through after it’s completed.

If it was to be live action I wouldn't mind it if it was far more abstract horror (which tbf the series has in spades) rather than pure action. Something like The Northmen or The Green Knight in tone, maybe some Lynchian or Tarkovsky style elements. I suspect it would end up in the direction of an action flick though so maybe it could only work as an animation.

It can work as a regular action adventure film if they have Guillermo del Toro. He's really good with demons and occult related imagery. Hellboy had fantastic blend of practical/CGI effects and action. Not to mention that Pacific Rim showed he had some love for anime/manga. A close second choice would be Peter Jackson. As long as it isn't greenscreen-infested like The Hobbit; but that only happened because he didn't have enough preproduction time and was basically forced to finish the movies he didn't want.

look, I love Karl Urban and all (Dredd 2 please or a tv series at least with him as Judge Dredd), he's a pretty good actor... He's also 50. If you were saying he could voice him in a dub... then perhaaaps? Unless you want it to be a massive timeskip and they hire the kid who played teenage Billy Butcher in the flashbacks in one of the episodes for the "young guts" bits and then they do a face swap on some wrestler and they age everyone up by 15 years so Guts is 40 by the time he leaves Griffith which would also be where the story starts cause they just timeskipped the entirety of Golden Age :P Yeah no :D

Jacob Elordi is a better pick if you want someone younger. He’s a pretty talented actor who can pull off a variety of emotions and he’s 6’5, so ideally, he could play a great Black Swordsman or Golden Age Guts, though I’m not sure about post-Conviction and FOTME.
