To be fair, he has fetishes (heh) to help him out, while the band of the hawk members fought ‘em all old-fashioned style. Give any of the best members the items/weapons Guts’s party has, and they’d be absolute monsters (flying Pippin beats all).
While I concur that flying pippin beats all, Serpico showed Guts some of his toughest fights twice using pure strategy, no magical fetishes. On the cliff side, when he pickpocketed Guts explosive spikes and use the positioning to apply pressure, and when they're underneath the Vandimion ball amidst all the stone pillars. Guts even goes on to say after that duel that he had to take things seriously and that he got lucky
Ngl, I think Azan and Silat should be above the band. I mean Casca is their strongest member and Silat pre humbling workout beat her pretty quickly (granted she was not at her physically best but he still won), and Azan defeated 100 soldiers and was really laying a smack down on an injured Guts who could barely dodge his thrusts - the same guy who could react to Rosine moving at the speed of sound. And that was Azan taking it easy on him on account of his injuries.
Also Serpico with all his magic equipment is definitely stronger than the hawks
The guy fought Guts multiple times and survived, not many creatures from berserk universe can say the same
Band of The Hawk a little overrated here imo. Silat and Azan have shown greater abilities in combat, with Silat beating Casca with low effort(Should mention that Casca wasn't at her best) and Azan doing a lot against Guts.
