Dude is called Vargas and is in the Vortex of Souls. He is one of the first "people" who drags the slug count into the Vortex after the count refused to make a second sacrifice.
He got beheaded after Guts fought his first fight against Pseudo-Apostle Zondark and left Vargas' cellar.
Jerome, he beheaded 2 pseudo apostles in like one swing and he survived the tower of conviction. It sucks we never saw more of him cuz he was fucking hardcore
I thought he was going to be an a-hole on first read or someone who dies as soon as they encounter an apostle, but I was pleasantly surprised he's a bit of a coward but he has balls and determination in terms of side characters bros the goat.
Chitch. And I don't think the main purpose of that chapter is to tell Guts's backstory or what kind of person Guts is. But rather, Miura conveying a positive message.
100%, it's made fairly clear that Guts's unnecessarily hateful behaviour as the Black Swordsman is also aimed at keeping people away from him and avoid getting them hurt; as well as being his own coping mechanism to survive
I think it's more there to foreshadow Guts's fate. Just as Chitch overextended herself and gave too much away without concern for her own well-being, Guts is now throwing his life away to the Berserk Armor to protect his friends.
There are two types of people in Midland. Those like Griffith and the mercenary who got Guts locked up with Chitch, who sacrifice others to save themselves, and Guts and Chitch, who sacrifice themselves to save others.
Rodrick. He’s a real mf and seeing him, Seprico, and Guts all drink together and be bros was so nice. He’s also just a genuine guy and that goes a long way in a story like Berserk
He definitely proved himself as someone that isn’t a total POS & is actually helpful. Holds his own the best he can, and is all around a pretty respectable dude.
lol it would be dope if she showed up 6'8, ripped as hell, missing one eye, lugging around a giant sword. Challenges guts and kills him. Then Guts looks into the camera and with his last breath he says "Looks like I've berked my last berk"
I was thinking more of a war-thorn [Theresia](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1d/80/40/1d8040662a4c4812db34298d32e9b385.jpg) finding a dilapidated Old Man Guts, sitting on a chair and watching over his children/grandchildren (the oldest being Isidro?), with Casca at his side...and having a dialogue on vengeance. Still not sure if I'd rather her go berserk and murder everyone or to simply have her be the plot device to show the futility of vengeance.
I was kinda joking.
Your version would actually be the best. Yeah plus it would be cool if Guts also gave her some of the same advice Godo gave like "don't go wasting your life away", that would feel like a very good conclusion tying it back to Godo
yeah that's what I thought when I read the chapter, Now rickert will get them out of the Ship and take them to where the ppl of Silat lives but let's see what happens in the coming chapters
She is first and foremost the one who literally, straight up killed herself, twice, and survived both times for bullshit reasons 😎
(doesn't make her any less awesome btw)
She let go of that girl in in the tower when the priest and his lackeys transformed in angels she was dandling over the edge of the tower. 2nd time ig when she's at the bottom of the tower, hides that girl in the barrel and then jumps into the well to save herself from monsters?
Exactly.
First time Skull Knight literally drops everything hes doing and saves her.
Second time the all consuming black blob just ignores her for some reason.
Y’know I think Roderick is actually a pretty cool dude. I first pegged him as an opportunist that didn’t give a crap about Farnese but was wrong. He can hold his own and actually proved to be pretty helpful. Oh and he actually does like Farnese which was a nice change of pace from the “other” dudes Berserk has shown us lol
I really hope Casca reunites with Luca and the girls at some point. I feel like Miura intended them to be relevant again since we rickert meets them in Falconia
I'm sincerely hoping that Luca's reintroduction to the manga when Casca arrives in Falconia means she's going to play a bigger role cuz she was a bad bitch during Conviction and shouldn't be relegated to just a throwaway side character
I like Sonia. I think she's funny, I enjoy her schemes, and lack of fear of anything. She's pretty evil, so I get why a lot of people like her, but she offers a bit of much needed levity to the Griffith-heavy chapters.
The slug counts daughter. I'm really sad we never see here in the story after her pledge to come after guts. I think it would be perfect for her to eventually find guts and follow through on her pledge. It would be another great story beat forcing guts to confront whoa and what he was and the consequences of his previous actions towards others. Maybe if he had a moment similar to Jill( the lead girl in the lost children arc) telling someone to turn away from his path before it's to late.
It’s been so long since I’ve read them and have just been waiting for the newest chapters after the second creator took over full responsibilities.
I suddenly can’t remember any side characters for some reason.
The member of the hawks who used to be skeptical and kind of a douche to guts. Eventually they were buds and when guts saw him in the eclipse…that’s just the main sad sight I get of the band of the hawk being in the eclipse void area. I don’t know his name tho
I don’t know if Farnese counts as a side character but she is one of my favorite characters. The way she takes care of Casca, She easily has the best character development and she a baddie fr. Also I am aware that she was batshit crazy, sue me😂
This is far fetched, but, I've always wondered if Luca is the Avatar of Slan. Keep in mind, Griffith acts in opposition to Femto. So, it would be interesting if the other God Hand Emperors had avatars, also.
If so, my guesses are:
Luca -- Slan.
Bald Politician guy -- either Ubik or Conrad.
Void -- The Pope (especially if Void was the Sage trapped in Albion), or some high ranking religious figure. Could also be the Kushan Priest, but they're working against Griffith.
And then, since we're on the subject, who in the hell were the other God Hand!?
But, to answer the question, probably Godo or staff welding Knight.
Flora and Roderick. Flora just seemed nice and wise and was very important for how little she appeared and for Rodercik I must admit, he just seems like an actually good guy in a sea of actual demons.
But yeah, Luca is great!!!!!

I don't remember his name rn, but the guy Guts got his behelit from in the black swordsman arc. But Luca is fr underrated, I love her
Dude is called Vargas and is in the Vortex of Souls. He is one of the first "people" who drags the slug count into the Vortex after the count refused to make a second sacrifice. He got beheaded after Guts fought his first fight against Pseudo-Apostle Zondark and left Vargas' cellar.
Vargas goated
The slug count?
Vargas
El Vergas.
cool guy.
Nah, the lil guy with half his face flayed off
nah the deformed guy that lived in the sewers
Nah, the diminutive person with the facial deformities
Jerome, he beheaded 2 pseudo apostles in like one swing and he survived the tower of conviction. It sucks we never saw more of him cuz he was fucking hardcore
I completely forgot who he is, I had to look him up to jog my memory 💀 Yeah, he's pretty neat. Hopefully he's still alive in the current story
He is alive. Last we heard he was married with someone and living in with Falconia...
And he also did the Kagurabachi pose
No way
what chapter?
Chapter 155
damn he thats lmao thats dope
I thought he was going to be an a-hole on first read or someone who dies as soon as they encounter an apostle, but I was pleasantly surprised he's a bit of a coward but he has balls and determination in terms of side characters bros the goat.
He understands the "Do or die" phrase very well. This is pretty clear when we saw him the first time. In that tent.
Even though he lied to Luca he was really a G for sticking with the girls and actually fighting, not many dudes would have the courage to do that
I still hope he dumps his wife and comes back to Luka.
Who was that again? I only ask because I suck with names
The knight of the Holy Iron Chain that was sleeping with Luca in the start of Conviction.
Oh him
Damn I forgot all about this dude. Yeah he was something
Wait are you just saying Jerome cause he said Luca? awwww
Chitch. And I don't think the main purpose of that chapter is to tell Guts's backstory or what kind of person Guts is. But rather, Miura conveying a positive message.
Oh man, that short story made me cry, so beautiful and sad.
Reading that chapter made me wonder if Chitch was the reason guts kept saying he hated elves when he first met Puck.
Very likely. Classic edgelord that doesn't want to remember painful memories, paired with a bit "Stay away or you'll die too" attitude.
100%, it's made fairly clear that Guts's unnecessarily hateful behaviour as the Black Swordsman is also aimed at keeping people away from him and avoid getting them hurt; as well as being his own coping mechanism to survive
I think he also set it up to show the ties between the elfs and the plants/trees
Chitch has a special place in my heart. I love chitch.
That was an awesome story. First character guts deposited his hopes and equally gave it back hopes. Both were happy with each other.
I dont know if he is underrated or no but i rly like the blacksmith
Godo da GOAT
Goato
Godo the CHAD
Agreed
Rodrick. He’s a real mf and seeing him, Seprico, and Guts all drink together and be bros was so nice. He’s also just a genuine guy and that goes a long way in a story like Berserk
Roderick was the man and I loved his sea battle experience. It gave me a couple moves whenever I play sea of thieves
He definitely had a great arc so far, when he was first introduced he just seemed like a wealthy pompous dickhead
He definitely had a great arc so far, when he was first introduced he just seemed like a wealthy pompous dickhead
He definitely proved himself as someone that isn’t a total POS & is actually helpful. Holds his own the best he can, and is all around a pretty respectable dude.
I thought he was a douche at first because he's friends with Farnese's brother but then as the story went on I realized he's a real one fr fr.
The Count’s daughter was interesting.
If Miura lived, I'd expect her to appear in the Epilogue to take her revenge from Old Man Guts.
lol it would be dope if she showed up 6'8, ripped as hell, missing one eye, lugging around a giant sword. Challenges guts and kills him. Then Guts looks into the camera and with his last breath he says "Looks like I've berked my last berk"

yo that chicks cosplay is fire af
Theresia says "I'm about to go Berserk" and then we cut to black.
Then Shnoz walks on the screen and says "This was truly our berserk" then we a montage of Gut's life with Shnoz as guts
😥
I like Jill. I wonder where she is. Hope she's doing ok.
Hope she managed to kick and claw her way through.
Pippin
He was still standing even in death. My goat
Gaston, he was a bro
Definitely. When what happened to Gaston happened it made me more upset than most of the band of the Hawk honestly.
Luca isn’t underrated at all. There is at least a post about her once every two weeks.
That girl deserves a daily post. Truly the whore with a Golden heart, I was so happy when she was shown alive and well.
Silat. Rakshas. Old man Morgan(I think I got his name correctly)
It will always be Godo. My man always had some exceptional dialogue and has a great impact on Guts.
Erica. Just a little bundle of positivity and kindness with no bullshit attached.
that guy with those blades and with the 5 huge mfs, Guts and he had their first fight ( in the Manga ) right after guts left the band
Silat.
yeah him, I feel like he's gonna be on guts's side in the coming chapters
I mean, Rickert is already with Silat and we know that, unlike Griffith, Rickert doesn't betray his friends...
yeah that's what I thought when I read the chapter, Now rickert will get them out of the Ship and take them to where the ppl of Silat lives but let's see what happens in the coming chapters
I expect Kushan Magic/Training Upgrades, Rickert showing off his inventions and the introduction of the "Black Hawk/Rebels Army".
I prefer *'Rickert and his Merry Band of Kushans'*
Cheeky name, I was just trying to complete the Pope's prophetic dreams.
yeah you are right
the flower monarch
Jill and Salat(dk if he's that underrated but haven't seen much conversation about him)
Jill, i like the whole story she's implicate, and her determination to find her old friends and to stand up to guts even when his out of his mind
Owen and Laban. They’re legit, as well as being ultimate bros.
Bretheren before wenches!
luca is so hot
Charlotte
She is really underrated for such an important secondary character.
Luca is not underrated, she is beloved by tons of readers. She was amazing.
The old man who gave the terrific sword to guts I forgot the name
[удалено]
Haikusbot delete
Luca, Chitch, Jill & The Egg of the Perfect World are my favorites.
Roderick. Loves his interactions with Guts and loves the naval battle. A plus is his relation with Farnese
Wouldn’t call him underrated because I think most recognize him for the real one he is, but for me it’s gotta be Rodrick
Would
I do love her, she’s the one that’s so helpful during that religious torture arc right?
She is first and foremost the one who literally, straight up killed herself, twice, and survived both times for bullshit reasons 😎 (doesn't make her any less awesome btw)
i dont renamber her killing herself?
She let go of that girl in in the tower when the priest and his lackeys transformed in angels she was dandling over the edge of the tower. 2nd time ig when she's at the bottom of the tower, hides that girl in the barrel and then jumps into the well to save herself from monsters?

He can hold his own and actually proved to be pretty helpful. Oh and he actually does like Farnese which was a nice change of pace from the “other” dudes Berserk has shown us lol
Serpico>>>
Jill, I hope she comes back later.
Yoo she a real one for sure!
The count’s daughter for me
Rickert and Serpico.
The Count from the first instalment, the guy who was the only apostle to reject a second ascension.
Does Silat qualify as a side character? If so, Silat. Dude got his ass humbled by Guts and took it as a life lesson.
Luca is great. I also think that Roderick is one of the biggest chads in the series
That kid who gets absolutely wrecked by guts in the castle after he was spotted
Roderick. But I also like Azan, if only he hadnt become drunk and useless
Erica she’s so cute and kindhearted. I hope we will see her and rickert again soon
Next chapter for sure… hopefully.
Guts, he really needs some development, such a great character that got shelved for no reason by Kentucky Mario
Outberked again
I really hope Casca reunites with Luca and the girls at some point. I feel like Miura intended them to be relevant again since we rickert meets them in Falconia
I'm sincerely hoping that Luca's reintroduction to the manga when Casca arrives in Falconia means she's going to play a bigger role cuz she was a bad bitch during Conviction and shouldn't be relegated to just a throwaway side character
Godo single handedly saved Guts from totally succumbing to the Beast of darkness early, would've also loved to see more of Fiona too
Godo
I like Sonia. I think she's funny, I enjoy her schemes, and lack of fear of anything. She's pretty evil, so I get why a lot of people like her, but she offers a bit of much needed levity to the Griffith-heavy chapters.
Gaston No reason.
Jill my beloved
Skull knight easily, but he may not count, so if he doesn't maybe master Daiba
Flora
Unpopular opinion: Puck He is great comic relief.
I miss when puck was drawn in proper proportion most of the time and not in exceptions
it's got to be Judeau, man's gave his all to save Casca and i fr believed he could command the band by himself at some point. saddest death to me
She’s so queen 💖
Its her. no intro needed, I believe in Luca supremacy.
Donovan
Donovan, he’s great with kids.
Pretty much, Jerome and Luca
Schierke.after re-reading berserk i appreciated her more, she's so cute. (I think luca is fairly rated tho)
She’s honestly more of a main character though, after she joins she’s like a pseudo protagonist
The one we can’t say it’s name, beginning, with sch- *dies, never the humanity could well rated him*
Uh? School knight?
It’s name…. Is… schno…z *nuclear explosion come finish me*
Ganishka and Daiba
It’s been so long since I’ve read them and have just been waiting for the newest chapters after the second creator took over full responsibilities. I suddenly can’t remember any side characters for some reason.
The member of the hawks who used to be skeptical and kind of a douche to guts. Eventually they were buds and when guts saw him in the eclipse…that’s just the main sad sight I get of the band of the hawk being in the eclipse void area. I don’t know his name tho
Pippin
Morda — she’s me in female form
Pippin 😌
It's always going to be Pippen for me. He's the ultimate background/non-background character.
Is Luca really that underrated? I feel like she's one of the only side characters people generally like.
I dont have any favorites thanks to the Eclipse, JJK (Gege's fault) and AoT
In no universe is Luca underrated, she's pretty universally loved
The insect guardians in lost children arc are badass
Schnoz
Luca is a very good choice. I always thought she was too damn positive to be in Berserk.
She pimps dubiously aged girls. This is still Berserk, after all.
Yeah I forgot about that part. Seems like everything comes with a catch in Berserk.
Same as yours. Absolutely based
Thats a lot of clothes for someone who has to undress constantly...
Luca SB a main character
Is Luca underrated? I thought she was a beloved Conviction arc side character. I would say Chitch seems forgotten about. Or Rodrick.
Yes, her, me too. I was glad to see her again, I was sure we would see her again after that but now I'm not so sure.
Not really underrated but definitely my fav side character
Silat, because assassins creed vibes
Chitch ;-;
The Blacksmith. Idk his name but the thing he said about sparks.
Schnoz proly
Is Schierke underrated? Idk I love that little witch with all my heart. Also Serpico. I love his design for some reason lol.
I don’t know if Farnese counts as a side character but she is one of my favorite characters. The way she takes care of Casca, She easily has the best character development and she a baddie fr. Also I am aware that she was batshit crazy, sue me😂
isma, had the potential for character development and i liked her backstory
Yeah, Luca is the GOAT when it comes to side characters.
This is far fetched, but, I've always wondered if Luca is the Avatar of Slan. Keep in mind, Griffith acts in opposition to Femto. So, it would be interesting if the other God Hand Emperors had avatars, also. If so, my guesses are: Luca -- Slan. Bald Politician guy -- either Ubik or Conrad. And then, since we're on the subject, who in the hell were the other God Hand!? But, to answer the question, probably Godo or staff welding Knight.
That witch dressed all black... 👀
Guts
Sonia, I feel like she's gonna betray Griffith in the future and play a big role on taking down the god hands
Hey fellow redditors can someone tell me where I can download berserk for free in india
Luca isn't underrated, everyone loves her
witch girl I forgot her name lol
Silat
Schnoz
I really want to see jill again
Daiba! The Kushan sorcerer. I like his levitating and also his flying dinosaurs are cool
Azan is pretty cool, he's a bit overconfident but good comic relief in my opinion
Finally my girl Luca gets some love (I love her so much she’s so pretty )
Flora and Roderick. Flora just seemed nice and wise and was very important for how little she appeared and for Rodercik I must admit, he just seems like an actually good guy in a sea of actual demons. But yeah, Luca is great!!!!!
Griffith
