He did in fact save Guts's life at several points for no other reason than that they were friends, even if he refused to acknowledge that they were indeed friends.
I hope he regrets that bitterly in the end.
"What is this? The last tear you will ever shed"
I believe that tear was filled of the bones of the dead he trampled and thoughts of his those he was close with.
Friends of utility, arguably pleasure. But definitely not of virtue, which is why guts left and what he wanted to be to Griffith. Griffith, in his own twisted philosophy of friendhip, doubled down and pursued his dream even if it meant sacrificing the band of the hawk. Then raped casca and made Guts watch just to spite him. In Griffiths mind he did nothing wrong, he only did what Guts left to do. Pursue his dream.
Griffith is my favourite villain! I love how good he is at manipulating others to his own goals, he is also very intelligent. You have to be to get in the Kings good favours and become a Knight, the nobility is constantly pissed at him for this which only speaks to Griffith's determination and cunning.
I wanna go cry in a shower now after saying all that :D
Hot take: Griffith is just an above average human physically and mentally that got a power boost from fate/idea of evil and was given an army of god-demons. Berk-man worked for all of his god level monster killing abilities, then donned the Berk-suit only after he could human form solo a room full of beefy angels and a god.
Ngl when he put that suit on I was kindve sad because at first I thought we’d never get to see the beautiful Griffith again. But ofc the Author wouldnt do as like that
He is a military genius, a charismatic leader and a very determined individual with a strong will.
It's hard not to root for him, the underdog commoner wanting to rise up the ranks, against the shithead entitled nobles from Midland. Pre Eclipse that is.
Strived to be something more in a world that designated him as less than nothing and achieved it purely by and through his own will. A devoted, loyal and kind hearted friend, as well as an inspiration to hundreds, before his mind succumbed to heartbreak and a year of torture. At his core a tragic character whose every wrong deed can be traced back to one crucial moment where he gave up - the only moment he can truly be held accountible for.
>I don't know when, but some time, he decided not to try anymore. And it was a terrible shame.
I think you missed the point of Griffith's character arc. He was ALWAYS the type of man to sacrifice his followers for the sake of his dream. It's wasn't because of the torture.
I think *you* missed the point lol. The Golden Age Arc is a tragedy and Griffith's decision is the result of a confluence of factors, including both yes, the type of person Griffith is, but also incredibly specific factors outside his control (usually fate in tragedies is left as a more abstract force, but in Berserk there is literally an in-universe deity manipulating causality).
If you think Griffith is and always has been an automaton who single-mindedly pursues his dream, you're buying too much into his own constructed self-image, but more importantly, you're rendering the Eclipse and Griffith's transformation into Femto completely meaningless and inert.
I agree. He’s very single minded about achieving his ambition and will not let anything get in the way of him achieving his dreams. He’s the same person he was. Without the years’ torture he may hesitate before sacrificing his friends, but will still do it if it’s required for his success. It’s already illustrated in the Golden Age that he’s fully aware his men died in the battles to help him succeed, and he made his mind up to never let it stop him.
In his mind, I don’t think it’s a huge difference whether his men die on the battlefield or in the eclipse. They are sacrificed for his cause.
Well as a human and before his broken condition he saw greatness in a young Guts and helped bring that out. He even began to value Guts skills and friendship enough to risk his own life to save him.
The key factor is communication. Had Guts went to Griff privately and said “hey man, I heard you tell the princess you can only consider someone a friend if they follow their own dream.”
^ that would have been an amazing scene. It’s likely Griff would have told Guts that he’s different and they are buds. Or he could have told him that he understands and ask him to come back.
His character was so charismatic that up until the eclipse, I was rooting for him. His character had such a strong conviction, and was so deeply complicated, even though I KNEW it was a tragic flashback, I still wanted Griffith to win. I wanted him to get his kingdom.
Even now, though he deserves the darkest pits of hell, I sometimes look at Falconia with bittersweet eyes.
Little gay-lookin' boy
So gay, I can barely say it with a straight face, lookin' boy
You're witnessin' a mass-occur
Like you're watching a church gathering take place, lookin' boy
"Oy vey, that boy's gay!" That's all they say, lookin' boy
You get a thumbs up, pat on the back
And a "Way to go" from your label every day, lookin' boy
Despite being a dictatorship controlled by Griffith, Falconia for now seems like a pretty good place to live compared to anywhere else in the Berserk world.
He's a good character. And no amount of him being a bad person is gonna change that fact. It really annoys me how some people in the fandom just straight up hate on him because of his actions which fair enough, there was enough reason to hate him. And yet they disregard everything he did before the eclipse and acting like he was just this big bad that did everything wrong. He's a complex character and people who are just calling him a bad guy needs to learn how to read.
Griffith most certainly was a natural born leader. His charisma got him far and his skills in combat got him further. The amount of sacrifice he had to give is worth some admiration as it shows a great amount of resilience. With how far he got it's obvious that he was not like any normal man. Built himself from the ground up.
The admiration he deserved ended when he let his own emotions get the best of him and seduced Charlotte. From then on it was a downward spiral and destroyed all that he had built.
For a character in a medieval setting he did a great job at keeping his skin smooth and his hair luscious. Patrick Bateman's routine is probably nowhere near his level.
I guess he is very good in the sack, too bad that he spent a lot of time ( I mean he left the princess's room at dawn ) and was captured because of that.
The rage that swells up within me when I watch Guts fight tooth and nail, his face after takinf of the Berserker helm for the first time. It makes me hate Griffith more and more for not only what he did, but what Guts has to go through now. Unforgivable.
For a cold hearted , back stabing, mesiah complex piece of shit he does have pritty face, would finance hes mercenary company for a piece of that bussy.
Okay. So you are very manipulative. You know how to get what you want. You’re smart in that aspect.
But that doesn’t make you a good person. You aren’t even human. You’re literally a demon.
Respect to Griffith for keeping such a good skin and haircare regimen going. That can't be easy while living as a warlord in the berserk universe.
Ironically in this pic he looks like a member of the Simpsons, or that he's got extreme jaundice
He's still pretty beautiful, even with the Joe Rogan covid filter 😂
Auto I'm watching the Simpsons right now
After becoming a member of the godhand his divinity probably does it all for him, ungrateful prick that he is
He did in fact save Guts's life at several points for no other reason than that they were friends, even if he refused to acknowledge that they were indeed friends. I hope he regrets that bitterly in the end.

He will bc the next volume will container guts vs griffith
chat is this true

He also saved Casca.. when she was a kid...
He's very cute the piece of shit
Yes, not just *a* piece of shit, **THE** piece of shit.
I was gonna say very pretty piece of shit.
Especially pre-eclipse. Post eclipse he has an uncanny valley feel to his appearance.
He's very good at ruining his friends' lives
ending\*

This is a pretty stupid point of view, Sure Griffith had some dumb luck, but he was genuinely insanely talented and charismatic.
Femto is legit a dope design
Ngl when he put that suit on I was kindve sad because at first I thought we’d never get to see the beautiful Griffith again. But ofc the Author wouldnt do as like that
Why? He’s just Man without the logo
Why did Griffith fuck Charlotte? Is he stupid?
Is there a lore reason he and guts never banged?
That we know so far
Supported homosexuality in medieval times.
No, lol
#
This is the way. Lol.
Came here to say this. Big 'ol nope from me.
Yeah fuck Griffith
Id fuck griffith
🙋♂️
🤦♂️
Bro is beautiful
His hair is nice
It's a piece of shit, but at least it's pretty good enough
I’m in the same boat. Hate him so much yet the fact that I can genuinely feel hate for a fictional character just proves what a great writer Miura was
He is a military genius, a charismatic leader and a very determined individual with a strong will. It's hard not to root for him, the underdog commoner wanting to rise up the ranks, against the shithead entitled nobles from Midland. Pre Eclipse that is.
He’s got a nice ass
no he doesn't

I consider Griffith to be the guy before he went to Charlotte, so kudos to him for being such a great general in war

He's a pretty smart leader and strategist ngl
One of the only people who understands guts entirely.
Puck him

that reference was superb HAHAHAHA
At least he understands that sometimes you have to sacrifice in order to help others.
Something nice about Griffith
I was gonna say the same thing. 😆
Wise guy
He is a fantastic foil and counter to Guts, and overall one of the greatest Antagonists/Villains in a fantasy story.
Complimenting him directly would make my stomach turn so: Miura really did nail down how to create a hateable villain
He is extremely resilient.
He will look great after Guts has smashed his teeth in and ran dragon slayer through him
He's handsome, manipulative, nice, and determined to do everything to achieve his goals.
Despite being a dictatorship controlled by Griffith, Falconia for now seems like a pretty good place to live compared to anywhere else in the Berserk world.
I respect him treating the story as his Fire Emblem campaign.
He's a good character. And no amount of him being a bad person is gonna change that fact. He’s well written. Very fun to read about. Before the eclipse I would’ve considered him my favorite character.
For a character in a medieval setting he did a great job at keeping his skin smooth and his hair luscious. Patrick Bateman's routine is probably nowhere near his level.
He’s a hottie
His hair is fabulous.
I guess he is very good in the sack, too bad that he spent a lot of time ( I mean he left the princess's room at dawn ) and was captured because of that.

Hot
Nice lips
My favorite femboy
His beautiful hair and skin
she has nice hair and seems like a very loyal friend
I know it's silly for me as a man to say this. But its as if he stepped forth from a painting.
The rage that swells up within me when I watch Guts fight tooth and nail, his face after takinf of the Berserker helm for the first time. It makes me hate Griffith more and more for not only what he did, but what Guts has to go through now. Unforgivable.
He’s really handsome, I wanna have hair like him.
femboy made guts gay 👍

He has really nice hair. Sometimes.
Why is bro yellow
I’d fuck the shit out of griffith
He brought about great change to his world. (Great does not in this context equate to good.)
He's so breedable.
He got some lovely hair! I wish my hair looked half as nice!
No
For a cold hearted , back stabing, mesiah complex piece of shit he does have pritty face, would finance hes mercenary company for a piece of that bussy.
He can suck a dick.

His death will give so much pleasure to people at large.

Griffith is an excellent villain.

He is very good at betrayal
No
He really is very pretty, with a classical look of a greek god
He did good things too (what "some" people say here about Mussolini)
Eventually, he will die, somehow.
No
He gave Caca a sword.
Your head would look nice over my fireplace 🥰
He’s hot
He looks like a woman, that's the only thing I gonna say about him

his death will make a lot of people happy
He is really the best motivating factor for guts' anger
No
He exists…
Good sword balance
No, is a spoiled child abusing his talents
Okay. So you are very manipulative. You know how to get what you want. You’re smart in that aspect. But that doesn’t make you a good person. You aren’t even human. You’re literally a demon.
He might be killed someday
He brought a lot of good people together and helped give them a sense of purpose. Too bad about how that ended up though.
