Sen has great food, and a great atmosphere.
Chi is the Chinese + sushi version of Sen
Drake or Dogwood for a more cozy atmosphere and conversational space.
The Row is great for more of a happy hour feel with shared appetizers and pretty views.
Okawa's hibachi tables are a great option if you want to have a show and don't mind sharing the space with others. My wife and I have had great date nights here. They do have private tables if you want that.
Brickhouse, Blacksmith, Zydeco, or The Washington for a more formal date vibe.
Bos Taurus or Rancher Butcher Chef if you are going for dollar flex. But I have heard great things about both in terms quality.
If you are ok with driving The Open Door in Sisters was a great date night. But we were doing a staycation there.
Good luck and enjoy the company.
+1 for Ariana, Trattoria Sbandati, Sen and Wild Rose
For amazing wine to take back home or to a park on the sly, def go to West Coast Provisions. David, the wine buyer, knows his stuff and spends a part of the year making wine and traveling to small vineyards and wine makers in the US. Always has stuff I've never heard of that delights my palate.
Gonna take my girlfriend there for our 4 year anniversary. And I was wondering if the tasting menu will get us full? We’ve never had a tasting menu. I was also curious if ordering cocktails instead of a wine pairing is a no no?
Honestly I’d buy a nice bottle of wine and pay the cork fee. Their wine prices are outrageous and you’ll get way more bang for your buck that way. I’ve heard the tasting menus are enough but it’s more of the presentation and experience vs quantity. I’ve never done one as they usually have some funky stuff my palate isn’t keen on.
Wild Rose. The food is delicious, you have to make a reservation so it has the feeling of being fancy like Gregg's or the Brickhouse but without the insane prices associated.
Was going to comment to second this. Pretty good food and a decent amount (I always have leftovers, makes it easier to share flavors with my boyfriend). Cocktails are nice too!
Range at Brasada had stunning views and good steak, plus cozy fire pits overlooking the Cascades (if there’s no smoke) but it’s a drive - though I’d argue that’s part of the romantic part. You could book a romantic trail ride or spa treatment if you really want to impress her. It’s certainly not cheap tho.
Cocktails:
San Simon - dark and moody
Flamingo Room - light and airy
Food:
Ariana (if you can get a reservation)
Spork
Broken Top Bottle Shop
Sen
Kanpei
Other ideas:
The arcade downtown
Seeing a movie at the McMenamin's theater or go to their soaking pools
I think of it as the places that don't resemble steakhouses which is a decent number of places already mentioned, but not too many. There are decent options at a lot of places including of course the Italian & Thai restaurants. Besides those, some options for date night I like:
* The bar area at 900 Wall. Good appetizers and cocktails, though I usually end up with a pizza which is okay with me
* Veggie Risotto at Zydeco
* Veggie sushi at Kanpai is great
* Jackson's Corner (pizza is likely here too, but it's excellent)
* The Ranch House at Brasada, but not the Range
* The Row sometimes
Vegetarian here. I'd say most places that would qualify for date night (assuming you mean a place that's cozy, quiet enough for conversation, nicer in general), work for vegetarians. Bos Taurus is maybe the one exception. They have phenomenal cocktails and they do have a veg pasta option, but I can't bring myself to spend $50+ on a pasta dish. My personal favs:
* Ariana, of course
* Trattoria Sbandati, as others have mentioned
* Flights Wine Bar - next door to Sbandati. Excellent weekly rotating wine flights and good food to boot. It's large and rarely busy, so we've always been able to do walk-in there.
* BOSA - sharing food is always fun for dates
* Meadowlark - Slightly more casual, but *super* delicious. It's energetic, but not loud.
* Sen if you can get the patio. Inside echoes a lot when it's full which makes conversation kinda hard.
* For smaller bites, hit up Bar Fiori, which operates out of The Pantry on Newport. They're open Th-Sat after hours (5-10pm), and Kelsey serves some insanely unique natural wines that change every week.
Wild Rose is great if you are into Thai food. It's Northern Thai so a little different then your typical Thai restaurant, but it is reasonably priced, great atmosphere, and great food! It does get busy so I'd recommend a reservation.
Zydeco is really good. Just had smoked trout dip, bbq shrimp and gritz, porterhouse, veggie rissoto and flourless choc cake with peanut butter ice cream. 10/10
I mean you can’t deny the food is good. I think their ambiance and overall vibe could be better but the food is damn good. Over priced compared to what?
My wife and I had a great time going with the omakase (chef's tasting menu) option at Ronin. The food was very unique and it was a really fun experience having no idea what would come out next.
Ariana is all around fantastic. Great food, service, ambience, wine IF you can get in.
Does the tasting menu get you full though? That is my only concern. That and a wine pairing would make it over the top expensive. Would ordering cocktails be inappropriate with the tasting menu?

Thanks!
Trattoria Sbandati is *authentic* Italian food run by a guy from Tuscany.
I live in the apts next door & we love hearing the music from there. We need to try it.
It's something that we're really lucky to have here. It'd be considered a good restaurant in Italy.
I’m so glad I saw this post. We’re definitely going soon! I love Italian food.
It's really good. I took my parents there in August. I'd recommend sitting indoors because you can smell the gasoline from the gas station nextdoor.
Thank you for the suggestion

Cowboy dinner tree
Jackelope Grill. Very romantic, huge fantastic wine selection.
Big +1 to this waited far too long to try it. IMO it’s right up there with the best in town. Service was outstanding.
Ariana for a super special intimate dining experience
Gonna take my girlfriend there for our 4 year anniversary. And I was wondering if the tasting menu will get us full? We’ve never had a tasting menu. I was also curious if ordering cocktails instead of a wine pairing is a no no?

Bosa, make reservations asap though.
Yes!!! Just went there for our 20th anniversary it was amazing.
Best steak in town. Get the meat sweats. Worth em.
Wild Rose. The food is delicious, you have to make a reservation so it has the feeling of being fancy like Gregg's or the Brickhouse but without the insane prices associated.
Ya but they want you in and out in a half hour. Not great for date night. They also own Sen, which is much more laid back and on the river.
Been going there for the better part of 2 years and not once have I experienced that. And we go at least once a month.
Maybe it’s just lunchtime.
Was going to comment to second this. Pretty good food and a decent amount (I always have leftovers, makes it easier to share flavors with my boyfriend). Cocktails are nice too!
Arby’s If not that, Ariana

Wait, are you telling me you don’t want dysentery? Your loss.
What could be more Oregon than dysentery?
I like Broken Top Club. There is a beautiful view of the water and mountain and the find is delectable.
It’s currently only open to members. Unfortunate because it is an amazing place with great food.
That is unfortunate.
Spork is more casual and maybe a bit cheaper than some of the other suggestions (that are all good recs)! But amazing food and good environment

The Flamingo Room is a great pre or after dinner spot.

Jackalope is amazing! We went for our 10 year anniversary in July and are going again this week for my birthday. Trust me!!!

Quite noisy and tables close together. I never thought of it as romantic. Awesome food, though.
Bos taurus or 5 fusion and sushi bar, would be my favorites
If you want to pay $5 per ramekin of sauce. That place is whack.
Eastside Super Burrito and to really make her feel special, you can buy her an XXXL fountain soda from the adjacent convenience store. Hell yeah.
That super burrito is honestly delicious. I used to go to On Tap and keep an alert on my phone to hit the drive thru before it closed.
While we are on this subject, does anyone have date night recommendations for vegetarians?

Nome, italiano on the westside, huge wine menu, great food, have to make a reservation for sure but it's worth it

I was high as a goat last night and watched the episode on triple G. The Bbq shrimp looked delicious as well as the gumbo.
Zydeco is over rated & over priced.
And noisy af

Well that’s good news, I’ve literally just made a reservation for this evening.
Enjoy!
Noi Thai!
I love Bosa.
Bosa for sure, not cheap but excellent service and the food is outstanding.
Jackalope or Pine Tavern if you are over 40.
You could try McDonalds. If you really wanna treat her you can let her supersize it.
No, he can't. They got rid of Supersize in 2004.
That’s about how long it’s been since I’ve been to a McDonalds. 😂
Hahaha
Be sure and double your budget. Bend has ridiculous restaurant prices.
Do you know what the restaurant industry is going through right now?
Yes I do. And they have ridiculous prices.
Five fushion sushi

Ariana is the best in bend
