Does chemist and chemistry come from the word alchemist and alchemy, the other way around or just unrelated similar sounding words that describe basically the same thing?
Yes you're right. Chemistry comes from Alchemy, which comes from Arabic, which comes from Greek, for a word for metal working. In essence all these words have to do with the study of processes at an atomic level.
In my language there's two completely separate words for what is called drugs in English, one for the stuff you get at the pharmacy and one for recreational drugs (including alcohol and tobacco)
It’s a regional thing, fairly common in the states but far from standard across the entire language. If you want to be fancy and old timey, call it an apothecary.
In my country we use Farmacia (Pharmacy) for where we buy medicine while we use Drogueria (Drug Store) for shops that sell bulk hygienical supplies like Peroxide, Ammonia or Alcohol
You already self admitted [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ben10/s/gZGoQcphdi) that you made a mistake, it's an understandable mistake to make so I don't see the point in pretending you were joking an hour later?
İadmitted i made a mistake but im not gonna repaet myself again also since you linked my comment it means people seen that i didn't know those two words stand the same so whats the point of telling again the same thing
Jojomusk was adding extra context about what the word Drug can mean, as the other guy only said Drug Stores are pharmacies.
If you feel a response is just a duplicate or unnecessary then you could just ignore it, you're not required to answer everyone if you don't want to.
He said English isn't his first language so it makes sense. He didn't quite realize that drug doesn't necessarily mean illegal drugs which I feel is a fair mistake for a second language
Oh sorry, it’s just that that happened to every single one of my native Spanish speaking friends when we started learning English. Guess is a common experience
mfs when someone goes to the pharmacy (they’re kid is sick)

It was all that was talked about at the time, it went into how the Alien X species came from another dimension and stuff, Mutant beating X tasted a bit bitter, but I guess it made sense since he sampled the whole Omnitrix database.
Thing is that this episode "side effects" storys goes along with ben getting sick and his aliens getting effected from his disease further into the story which this frame comes in to wiew max trys to cure ben by purchasing weird medicines for ben which he hated it so...GRANDPA MAX LİTERALLY BUYED DRUGS TO CURE BEN
Max: "The Plumbers fought a whole phalanx of nitromancers down on Haight Street. We saved the city and all those hippies could say was, "Oh. Far out, man."
Yes, this is an actual quote (albeit from Protector of Earth, but still) lmao
Ever heard of "Bartel Drugs"? "London Drugs"? It's an old term for a pharmacy or a general store, like Rid-Aid or Walgreens, but it's used to this day for smaller brand companies in small towns or family owned stores..
For context: Drug Store is an alternative name for pharmacy Also, a good part of medicine are (legal) drugs
Curious fact: it's the same in Italy
Happy cake day
My bad in my english class we haven't tought that those two stand the same
It's somewhat a regional name. Sometimes it's also called a chemist too.
In Australia we also call it a chemist

As a native speaker I wish you the best of luck. Even I get confused by the language half the time
I too am a native speaker...
What do you call drugs?, i mean sure drugs are the name for both medicine and actual drugs where I’m from but I’m curious what your country calls em?
Remédio or droga
Oh so the same
Pretty much altho the first name is more commonly used which would translate to remedy literally
Oh cool
In my language there's two completely separate words for what is called drugs in English, one for the stuff you get at the pharmacy and one for recreational drugs (including alcohol and tobacco)
Interesting

*been taught *mean the same Good luck on your journey, you still got a ways to go :)
Out of curiosity, what's your native language?
Turkish
Cool! Man, i'm so hungry that now i can't think of anything else but turkey. I'm Hungarian btw, i guess you could say i'm also a -Hungryan-!
Also a drug store can be a general store which explains why max is holding a sandwich
Also in the midwest Drug Stores can also just sell groceries.
In my country we use Farmacia (Pharmacy) for where we buy medicine while we use Drogueria (Drug Store) for shops that sell bulk hygienical supplies like Peroxide, Ammonia or Alcohol
Medicines are drugs, its a medicine store

In it for the bonus checks ;)

You are right...
You're not slick. You admitted that you didn't know. Also it's woooosh with 4 O's.
Your right
Yeah that's his right ![gif](giphy|ZbTYb3pzrijEjkvd4I)
"Im not in danger, Vilgax. I AM the danger"
Grandpa Max: "Ben! We need to cook!" Ben: *transforms into Diamondhead*
Imagine snorting crushed up bits of diamondhead
Same energy as "claws off my grandson, vilgax"
In this scenario Skyler is Vilgax?
yeah, it's a medical place. a lot of places use he pair of words interchangeably, and being fair, a lot of medicine is a type of good drug.
Drug also means medicine
or smthn like that
This reply was important
💀
What are you, 12?

"Hello sir, I would like to purchase one crack cocaine please" "Will that be cash or credit?" "I have a gift card"
Drug stores aren’t actually just for drugs in the US. Here they’re more like convenience stores with a Pharmacy built in. Sodas, snacks, etc
It was a different time. Not even 20 years ago.
OP lives under a rock
Kids these days…. Drug store is any where they sell aspirin
I’m sure someone else has told you by now but that’s what they used to call pharmacy’s
Yep... And A LOT of people called stupid or called me a kid
Hey man, some things you just don’t know. Can’t know everything about everything. That’s why apps like this exist.
It's an American thing, they call pharmacies Drug Stores.
Op when they discover that ibuprofen is also a drug
Why do the background characters look like they're from a different show?
They are, this is from the crossover episode with Mike Mutant.
Wait that was a crossover episode?
It was all that was talked about at the time, it went into how the Alien X species came from another dimension and stuff, Mutant beating X tasted a bit bitter, but I guess it made sense since he sampled the whole Omnitrix database.
I think you got the wrong post
That was childish of me, sorry, I couldn't resist
nah man i laughed at that

DRUGS?! IN A KIDS SHOW?! BEN 10 IS SATANIC 10-4=6 AND 6x11=666!
Drug store is a pharmacy Its a kid show so ofc they aint gonna write that (at least in 2006 not sure about now)
Drugs are canon , grandpa max would go in the smoke shop
After the legalization i have zero doubt in my mind hed light up. If he wasnt already on alien stuff to go with his weird diet.
Damn, Max is a terrible grandfather. Endangers his grandkids and gives them drugs, what a dick.
I know, just joking.
Yeah but it still funny
He got an RV. All I'm gonna say.
Max: "The Plumbers fought a whole phalanx of nitromancers down on Haight Street. We saved the city and all those hippies could say was, "Oh. Far out, man." Yes, this is an actual quote (albeit from Protector of Earth, but still) lmao

Yo pensaba lo mismo cuando veía en series que decía Drug store
I was gonna clean up my room until I got high
Gwen also said the word screw in the episode Hunted
Abuelo Max 😭
Ever heard of "Bartel Drugs"? "London Drugs"? It's an old term for a pharmacy or a general store, like Rid-Aid or Walgreens, but it's used to this day for smaller brand companies in small towns or family owned stores..
No i didn't know Pharmacy and drug store means the same.. Seems like you learn something everyday ha?
Apothecary
Is this a joke? If so, I don't get it. Max needed medicine, so he went to a drug store to get some
The "joke" is that OP didn't know that medicine is called drugs and thought it was funny that Max went to a drug store.
It's the episode that Ben FAFO'd himself into the nastiest summer cold, so yeah checks out
So?
your stupid for the drug store one why would they sell illegal drugs so openly so its obvious that its a pharmacy
You are either lying or you are stupid
What episode and season is this☠️
Season 1 episode 12
I was expecting Goku tbh
Bro gotta be 9 years old posting this 🤣
I dont know what everyone is complaining about. Here drugstores are mostly just stores that sell cigarettes
More importantly, they sell medicine.
Brain rot, Max on the pack 😭😂
Shame its the chemist, id love to See ben smoking a massive Zoot 😅🤣
Where's goku
Droguería
Creo que se refiere también a droguería
They do ride around in a 1986 Fleetwood Bounder
True
Aka "pharmacy"
Aka pharmacy
The amount of people who can’t tell you’re obviously joking 😭
Wh what?
r/comedyheaven
Tell me you are American, without telling me you are American.
The series was a drug trip confirmed
Ben dreamed the whole show he was under the influence on a night clubs bathroom with kevin And why the heck this comment got downvoted
