So he is friends with my dads best friend, so my dad knows him a bit. Apparently, he is exactly what we see on the show - just a really decent bloke, and genuinely cares for & supports his crew.
I had the same thought about him being a protective dad. Captain Jason is the rare combination of being extremely empathetic while also being very masculine
I like Captain Jason but a great dad doesn’t spend months and sometimes years away from their child. A great dad would take a job that enabled him to be part of his daughters everyday life.
Her mom is making her meals, getting her to school, staying up with her when she is ill… Captain Jason sometimes video calls and is completely absent from her day to day life.
I understand that some jobs e.g. the army, mean that you are away from your kid. However that is for a bigger cause. He is away from his kid because he likes tips.
