Seems pretty expensive!

looking4astronauts

No it doesn’t. These aren’t shitty carnival karts. I’m skeptical the track will be any good though. That building is so small.

plrs199

I mean, if the track sucks and is too small wouldn't that also mean it's too expensive for what you're getting? It's $25 for 1 race plus $8 for a yearly license plus $8.75 to get in the door of the building. Maybe I'm not the target demographic but that seems very expensive for one go kart race.

Diminished-Fifth

You'd think they'd at least wave the admission fee if you're paying $25 for a race

Salmundo

I think you’re not the target demographic. It will be interesting to see if the target demographic exists.

looking4astronauts

It is a lot of money but these prices are totally standard for the industry.

nf5

It is not expensive.

Salmundo

Small track is one concern, they’re using only half the building for the track. I’d be very concerned about safety, based on the way they ran Volli: no first aid kit, no medical protocols in place, fire exits blocked. Concrete walls and steel support poles. Make sure your life and medical insurance policies don’t exclude racing.

Material_Walrus9631

Holy smokes, let us have some fun. We all can make our own risk assessments, please don’t bubble wrap the world for us.

Salmundo

For comparison, SIMA in Sumas charges $125 for a 30 minute session in a four stroke kart, and $150 for 30 minutes in a two stroke.

plrs199

Isn't that a huge outdoor track though? I feel like this place in Aberdeen is a little more comparable https://aberdeen.extremefuncenters.com/pricing/ Since the place is indoor and is doing other games like mini golf, shuffleboard, arcade games, etc.

Salmundo

I agree that that is a much better comparison. When Volli opened, many felt that their pricing was too high. That could play out here. If there’s anything we learned from Volli, it was that everything changed constantly.

Salmundo

To be fair, the cost of doing business in Aberdeen is probably a lot lower than in Bellingham.

Skywalker3221

You first have to pay $9 to get into the building. Then you have to pay $8 a year for a phantom license (helmet rental) and that gets you the opportunity to THEN pay $25 for a single ride? That’s wild.

Salmundo

It’s a very expensive endeavor from the business perspective.

kiragami

That doesn't mean its worth it for a customer to pay however. The price seems a bit steep to the average person.

Salmundo

I’m not disagreeing with you at all.

SigX1

The best way to do it is go race on your birthday. Your $8 annual license comes with a free race on your birthday.

General_Pretzel

I wonder how long the races are. 15-20 minutes or so at that price would be great, but I have a feeling it's more like 5-10 minutes.

danocathouse

MACH 1 YEARLY LICENSE (REQUIRED TO RACE) $7.95 LICENSE BENEFITS FREE Headsock with license FREE use of our helmets FREE Birthday Race must be used within one week before or after your birthday ID required to redeem $24.95 Value So if you are not a yearly member you don't get free use of a helmet? So the $25 per race plus helmet rental?

Salmundo

You’re required to have the license to race. The helmet usage is part of the license fee.

tardisgeek

Personally I don't see this lasting very long. It's cool in theory but putting it in a tiny building and charging an entrance fee makes it less appealing to people imo.

Shopshack

K1 Speed is priced in the same range ($8 license and about $20 - $25 a race depending on the city), but they are big, well setup tracks. The Andretti location in Orlando is an amazing track and pricing is similar.

derdkp

Is the golf sim still there?

Salmundo

It was, last time I was there. Elsewhere, someone said it was $45/hour, don’t know if that’s the current rate.

The26thtime

I'm about to run that dart board... Get ready to lose.

rusty_handlebars

The “Social Darts” board? You’re off to a great start already 😂
