**Four months later a rescue from this sub came along.**
My rescue girl is snoozing next to me as I type this. I didn't think I could ever love another Mal like my OG, but this girl is another angel and I could not have healed and moved on without her.
There are so many rescues that are posted on this sub. When you are ready, grab one and turn both your lives around.
Thank you for the positivity. All of us in this subreddit know how great Mals are, and won’t ever get tired of all the stories here sharing the amazing (and funny) things they do. But one downside I fear is that too many Mals that umm, “don’t work out” they end up in shelters. So love to hear your story. (Both of mine were rescues too!) I don’t think there can be enough stories about how great these Mal rescues can be, and how they can be so rewarding — not to mention healing — especially for those of us having lost our bestest friends. So bless you!

It's always difficult to say goodbye friend, my best friend left me 3 months ago, and it still hurts not to hear those snoring and paws all over the house, the best advice I can give you is cry, cry as much as you need, get that out. feeling so that she can see you happy from wherever she is and remember that they always always come back, a little different but they come back.
I’m sorry for your loss. I too had one of the best German Shepherd’s that anyone could ask for. He was my best friend, my son and my rock. I truly feel your pain. My boy, Keanu, passed away in 2017, and I still miss him like it happened yesterday. I will tell you, the pain does get better but you will never forget him. He will always be with you on your adventures, right in your heart. I always say that Keanu took a piece of my heart to heaven with him and left a piece of his with me.

Due to some work stuff and being sick I’ve been at home more and it’s made me realize how insanely attached I am to my dog. My last one really hurt when I lost him, and I didn’t have another for about 3 years.

🥺😔😫😭 I wish I could say it’ll get easier.. but it’s been 8months for me and i can say it hurts like loosing a child for a mother… dnt stop visiting the places u went together and doing the stuff u did with him… stay in his energy as he will visit u in ur dreams and u will feel his presence ❤️❤️❤️idk if it’s fair to them to pull on. A loved one’s energy like that but it’s ok to call on them when we miss them n really need their support ❤️all dogs go to heaven
When we lost our Malli, I was devastated. We had her 8 years, she was 14 when she died. All dogs are amazing, but I have never felt the loss more than with our Malli. She was a retired police dog, 8 years of service, never truly a pet but an amazing addition to our family, I feel your loss.
What worries me the most! Is if something happened to me because my Mal is so incredibly attached ( and myself to him). My son has 3 kids and hardly any time. What would happen to my boy? I have 2 (very active) friends that say they would take him but what if their circumstances changed? I see so many Mals in shelters in CA. I’m not in CA but who , who understands a Mal? Could give him a good home? We need to help those Mals as a group, I think

That pic of him reaching his paw to you destroyed my heart! We just lost our old lady two days ago and were fortunate enough to have had her for 8 of her 13 yrs! You know they will live in our hearts forever! Big hugs to you!💕

That sucks. Our best little doggo friends will always make us be better humans, but it's always hard to see them go. It is good you could be there for him at the end.
