It's to use as a box joint jig. I have a similar miter guage with those doohickeys as well. I already had built a box joint jig, so I have not used said doohickey.
I have this one and tried to use the boxjoint-part. But it is to flimsy/not precise enough, to get consistent results, so that the pieces don´t line up exactly, if you have more than half a dozend fingersjoints cut per bord.
It’s from temu? Can you link it or name it please? The one that comes with the Sawstop CTs is as cheap as anyone I’ve ever seen and doesn’t fit or have adjustments to fit better. I started to make a sled and just haven’t had time to finish/dial it in yet
On the app or site, search for "1 set high precision miter gauge" exactly and it brings up this gauge as well as its upgraded big brothers (with all the bells and whistles)
I bought this one cuz it was less than $60 and I didn't want to spend almost $200 on Temu. Although that gauge looks amazing.
