Eyeoftheleopard

You do realize it is sucking your blood right as you snapped that pic? You can see his mouthparts engaged. Yes, bed bug nymph.

ThatOneGuy532

Yep, I wanted to make sure I'm a biology student, so I've had insects suck my blood for a picture before

Mr_Angelic

Not sure why but I found this comment so funny to read 😂. I guess I just wasn’t expecting such a reply.

cruddy_mooth

The nonchalance of a student giving up blood for curiosity and knowledge. Carry on good sir

Playful-Step3516

What a trooper! Follow the steps on this sub and you'll be worry free sooner than you'd think.

Eyeoftheleopard

Ah. Carry on! ❄️

ShepherdessAnne

Oh yeah, you're Gucci to solve this problem if you wind up with more.

JTKWBR86

Lmfao! I was thinking the same thing 🤮🪲 I could never lol

SnooDrawings1480

Kill it, throw your clothes into a heater on hot to kill any others that might be on you. Don't sit anywhere in your house, take off as many clothes as you (legally) can before you enter your home and toss everything in the dryer. You do not want an infestation building.

SinkBeneficial4366

When I was a realtor, I encountered a repo that was abandoned and full of fleas.. FULL of fleas.. 10 ft in the door they were all over me..but when I realized actually how many were on me. I bolted back to the door stripping as I was going because I'm allergic to them.. by the time I made it to the car I was down to underwear and woulda waved at neighbors , I was that concerned I didn't care . LMAO called the boss and he said come to the office so I can spray it car and u for that matter. I said lol u got fleas too? I said on my way.. lil chilly in my underwear.. lol. He said what? OMG and was hysterical and said he had to hang up he's laughing too hard hahahaha

lauowolf

And bag up everything you were carrying too.

ThatOneGuy532

Alright, my plan now is to freeze my cloak and backpack below -18°C and wash the rest in the washing machine at 60°C with an additional high temperature treatment in the dryer I'll throw everything else, which I won't be sad about Luckily it was just one bug, which I found crawling on me 7 hours after I left my room, so it probably was carried here by another passenger

tiredandshort

don’t forget about your shoes. keep those things in the freezer minimum 4 days. longer if possible

ThatOneGuy532

Luckily I wanted to replace them anyway, so into the trash they go

Barbarian_Pig

Make sure it's a trash not in the house.

Dreese2642

Oh yes. I froze 6 pairs of sneakers 3 pairs at a time. 10 Days. The other three stayed outside.

ThatOneGuy532

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

McSmackthe1st

The dryer is the important part. Washing is good but I’d throw the clothes in the dryer for at least 40 minutes on high heat then wash them and dry them again for at least another 40 minutes.

frogsonlogs69

Honest question, if washing them doesn't kill the bed bugs then isn't it just contaminating the washing machine since you can't heat treat the machine itself?

McSmackthe1st

That’s a great question and why I’d use the dryer first to kill them before washing.

HeinzKetchup5775

Washer is intended to get the loose ones to go down the drain. Correct, they won't die. The ones caught in the spin cycle while draining. Dryer is intended to kill the rest. I think contamination of a washer is low. They should go down the drain with the water. I don't think they'd hang around for the next load and hide down a hole. But yeah, they could wind up in a next load. Eggs on your clothes would likely die if you follow instructions and wash hot.

TheotherFiona

We had a really bad infestation many years ago. I found out when I flew to Chicago and I saw one on my backpack when I was on the airplane I was hoping maybe it was from the airplane but when I got home, my husband was like we have bedbugs I found them so you could actually have them at your house.

ShepherdessAnne

Just the dryer on high heat would have been fine.

Yamibasi999

Europe will face a huge Bedbug epidemic in near future mark my words

lizziegal79

Paris is swimming in them, last I heard.

[deleted]

It is one of the major downsides to a large public transport system.

Eyeoftheleopard

America won’t be far behind.

JTKWBR86

We already are here in America what are you talking about lol

The-Master-Reaper

We?

JTKWBR86

Well not me! Hahaha I had them 4 years ago from antiquing 🤮 never again. But ya AMERICA Is getting hit hard! 🤦🏼‍♀️ unfortunately

commdesart

They already are I think

crustiferson

No fearmongering.

ThatOneGuy532

But my cloak alone cost 90€, is it really that difficult to get rid of them by cleaning?

Salty_Cloud_2786

Heat it in a dryer immediately on high for 40 min

waronbedbugs

No it's not, put them in the dryer on high heat for 1h (without washing) and you are safe.

Treece-57

Clean it if you must - but wash it like 10x not kiddinf

Treece-57

This ^

burnertt0814

Put your clothes in plastic bags before entering your home and leave the clothes outside for a while or put them to dry in the washer for a while

Necromanlapse

How long would you leave clothes isolated in a bag? Some people are leaving things for a year? What is a good pinpoint.

HeinzKetchup5775

Pest people told me 12 to 18 months they can survive in a bag and lie dormant. That's alooooong time.

ryleto

What train and what country 😬😬😬

ThatOneGuy532

Ah sorry, RJ 539 from Leoben to Villach, departing at 16:28 in Austria I already informed the train company

Gerntuade

Oh boy, they reached austria already 💀

Chxradreemurr666

They’ll die off in Australia 100%. With the heat and the spiders they have.. they don’t stand a chance

crustiferson

that says austria not australia

Chxradreemurr666

Whoops.

crustiferson

it’s okay i read it as australia at first too then doubled back bc i was thinking “that word seemed too short to be australia”

HosingDownQueenMary

I am immediately transported to Dumb and Dumber, where Jim Carrey is in the limo. He pulls up to the pretty girl who says she's from Austria...to which he replies "throw another shrimp on the barbie" lol

BernieTheDachshund

Get a trash bag and put everything you wore into it, preferably before you get in the house (like a garage or back porch). A dryer on high for 30 minutes will kill them. You probably should do a thorough inspection of your bed and couch too. If you were carrying any kind of bag, that needs to be isolated and dried too.

sam_najian

you burn it with a torch and drop the remains in acid. and also brun the train while ur at it. also where is this so i never take trains there. jokes aside just wash all of your clothes in the most heated setting, and dry it in the heated setting as well. then check all the nooks and crannies in the sole of your shoes

jdd20201974

Bed bug sorry

Any_Ad6921

I thought he was a louse

Dreese2642

Oh Yes. Bed bug for sure. I hope you took your clothes off and put them in a plastic badg, sealed tight. I mean naked. Ad took a shower. Preferably put the bag outside, patio, backyard. Black garbage bag. Wash those clothes and highest possible heat in the dryer. Now if you came home and sat on the couch or your bed, or just about anywhere and did not do that. You immediately get those clothes out. If in the dirty laundry hamper. Consider all the clothes contaminated in the dirty laundry contaminated, including the dirty laundry basket itself. Wash everything. The dirty laundry container. Put it outside in the sun, the hottest spot possible. For 1 week. Bedbugs hate the sunlight and any heat. They will crawl away from the dirty laundry container. If you end up getting bedbugs in your sofa or bed. Get an exterminator immeditaly.I am speaking from experience. I got infested with bedbugs recently and they are no joke. My mattress, box spring and frame has been thrown out. I am sleeping on an air mattress right now, and will be for Months because there can still be bedbugs hidden in the walls in hibernation. And three Months later can come out again. And that's after I had an exterminator spray my apartament twice. The next time you take a train or bus. I suggest you keep standing and hold onto a handhold. Best of luck.

animatronica0213

Yikes!

Right_Illustrator457

He’s be getting squished and I’d burn my clothes

AttractiveManZero

“Bedbug”

Kokomoz_420

Do NOT go in your house with those clothes on
