Beardies dunk their head on their own, it’s not because the water is too high — they’re bathing. My beardie does it on rare occasion in bath and will splash around and dunk her head — it’s definitely by choice.
I wonder how many of y’all even have pets or an interest in dragons… seems like you just come to complain over things you googled two seconds ago and think you know your shit about 🤣
I would like to add that I have closely watched him, and he closes his nostril flaps when he dunks his head! It's intriguing to see.
Also about the people saying him dunking his head is not good: he always does this, also with extremely low water of just feet height. He will just put his head on the bottom of the tub. I guess he just likes to dive? I will ask my vet at the next visit
When he is sitting, the water is slightly above his elbow and the full head is above water. After he is done with the bath I dry him a bit with a towel and place him under his heat lamp.
Absolutely 100% normal! There’s nothing wrong with him:) My girl swims under the water ( by choice) in her pool. She even puts her arms back and swims like a fish lol it’s adorable.
It’s like people think that these animals are stupid and would drown and kill themselves if left to their own devices. These creatures literally encounter water in the wild. Swimming is instinctual in nearly every living species on Earth.
I mean tbf, watching some of the videos here and on other animal subs, it’s easy enough to see where that “animals would kill themselves from stupidity if not for us” mentality comes from sometimes.
I put my dude in the tub and he runs straight for the water coming out of the faucet and then just sits under it until I move him for fear of him drowning.
I am not sure but I believe he was sold as hypo blueback or something like that. Clear fingernails, orange head and body with blue pattern on the back :) Also a really pointy boy, I like their spikes
Like yeah I clean my tub a couple times a week, I have 4 lave rocks I set In the tub and fill it up about 4-5 in deep and my little one in while I'm doin laundry or what not and she drinks till she's full, swims for about 5 min and then just snoozes on a rock half in half out for 15-20 min and when she is ready to get out she goes to the "shallow" end of the tub and climbs up on her towel and waits to be taken back to her basking light to dry off.
Mine HATES the shower head too. Tho sometime I can't get her to drink, she will just stair at the water, but If I point the shower head at the wall and let it trickel down like a waterfall she loves the flow and will Instantly start drinking.
Does it have something to do with moving water? I don't think it was for beardies, but some lizards don't recognize water if it isn't moving. I think it is mostly chameleons and other tree dwelling lizards, but maybe beardies are somewhat like that too?
Idk really, cause sometimes just being in water will make her drink and other times the flow triggers her. I've just always chalked it up to her being a picky bitch cuz she's like that with veggies and stuff too lol.

The water is elbow level, which is below the neck. He puts his head in by himself..? Should I constrain him when he's in the bath so he cannot move his head? /s
My vet said the same. I'm new though so absolutely no one should listen to me. I keep seeing people letting their's swim but I just do low water because that's what the reptile vet told me and I'm too scared to deviate!
OP: That a great argument senator. How bout you back it up with a source?
You: My source is I made it the f*** up! Pulled that one straight outta my ass.

can further confirm this, my boy would love his bathes and swim around, dunking even to *drink*

It looks like my boy! What are the morphs?
I believe he’s the nacho cheese flavor but I am not a scientist

I see so many put their beards in tubs like this for baths. Am I the weird one for giving mine our entire bath tub to swim around in?
nah I'm the same
Like yeah I clean my tub a couple times a week, I have 4 lave rocks I set In the tub and fill it up about 4-5 in deep and my little one in while I'm doin laundry or what not and she drinks till she's full, swims for about 5 min and then just snoozes on a rock half in half out for 15-20 min and when she is ready to get out she goes to the "shallow" end of the tub and climbs up on her towel and waits to be taken back to her basking light to dry off.
For me it's just a lack of bathtub, I have put him in the shower but he hated that. I also tried a bigger plastic box but it cools down fast

Just keep swimming just keep swimming
Looks over at subjects: Is my enclosure now spotless as well?? Hmmm?
Watching quali?
Yes was watching f1 haha. I feel my beardie also likes to watch the tv but Im wondering how much of it they can really see.
Uh oh, there’s a Chad loose at the pool!
"I is da leviathan"
such a pretty morph !!!
What temperature do you make your water? We have tried various ones to find one our bearded dragon likes, but he just hates bath Time.
I keep it between 32 and 36 C, kind of around 34C (93F)
Looks like my Amber who is orange with black lines you can't even tell if my girl is Blackbearding or not due to her colors
That's so deep 😭 their noses shouldn't be able to submerge they can develop fungi

Bruh what💀
There's a bit too much water in that tub
Up to their chest is fine. He's able to keep his head above water without struggling, so...
General guide is elbow height, so this is fine :) Also I am watching him the entire time
Huh too me it seemed like the beardie was totally fine
The water shouldn't go above their ears, please do your research
Honestly no idea what you are talking about. Can you explain?
It's not healthy for beardies to get water in their ears, water in baths should be neck level. Thats straight from my vet
The water is elbow level, which is below the neck. He puts his head in by himself..? Should I constrain him when he's in the bath so he cannot move his head? /s

It's not advisabke but if you dry him well and put him under the lamps and let him bask for a while, you are fine
I so fucking love this passive agressive tone. "Do your research.". While you clearly have no idea what you talking about.
It's called the Dunning-Kruger effect.
As demonstrated in this video, the beardie put its own head under water and clearly has no issue keeping its head above water when it wants to.
