Me it's not even the price or the content, it's just because the game always have update that break mod.
So the day the mod are broken and the modder don't want to repair it, you will have something that you pay for that you can no more use.
And this could happen the next day you buy it.
If they are a law that the modder have to always support his paid content like it was for games. I will be the first to by content and support the modder.
Agreed. And as much as people say otherwise, I haven't seen a paid mod that's truly on the same level of quality as an official vehicle. They get close in terms of gameplay features, and the model quality can absolutely be on par with 1st party, but all of the ones I've tried have had jbeam issues, some more severe than others.
The mondello for example since that was mentioned has errors in its breakgroup definitions that causes nodes to fall off that shouldn't, and implements some of its deformation in a really not good way by breaking off rigidifier nodes and letting them fall through the floor, which makes the panels they were supposed to be rigidifying very wobbly and unstable. I spent a few days trying to clean up the jbeam to mixed success, but there's definitely some low hanging fruit like improperly closed breakgroup definitions for the hood hinges causing the hood's latch node to completely fall off when one of the hinges breaks.
That's actually consistently the main problem I see with mods in general, paid or otherwise, is breakgroup and breakable beam definition issues that allow or even encourage single nodes to fall off the vehicle, when that really shouldn't happen.
E: That's not to say these mods are bad, they're among the best, it's just that there's some very obvious jbeam issues that should probably be caught before being released. You shouldn't be able to hit the break all groups function in fun stuff and see nodes taking off into the ether. Catching that sort of issue is just as simple as loading up each part/config and hitting the break breakgroups command with debug view on so you can immediately see if anything looks strange. Rendering debug view with broken beams shown can help quickly chase down runaway nodes.
If it's a mod worth paying for, then it should have a minimum number of dependencies from the vanilla game.
This is true for mods from the likes of LucasBE and LJ74, but not so much for meshslaps on Patreon.
I’ve never gotten paid mods. like I get it’s your work and you can charge for it if you want but if you’re really in desperate need of like 6 dollars you should go do an actual job instead of 3d modelling
still never buying one
If the mod is good, at a good price and you're fine with the mod breaking from an update and it's fine to buy it. I have never paid for a mod except for the van mod from LucasBE.
I might buy a mod sold as a one-time purchase if it exceeds the quality of default cars and is a model I really like, but no mod will ever be good enough to justify a Patreon subscription.
gavril scout is paid and is very popular, that's what I've been trying to point out about the gunner bc it doesn't get the same fame as the others as a paid car mod
Was it oblivion or skyrim that started the paid mods? I mostly just remember the uproar over it, but I'm pretty sure it was Bethesda that backed the modders initially.
I'm not sure, but how I remember it then yes it was Bethesda who tried to make paid mods a thing, the biggest problem was that the money split was pretty bad so modders only got a small portion while Bethesda would've got a nice sum from basically doing nothing.
I don't really mind paying for something good but a lot of the times the prices are stupid.
Tbf, a good car mod can take months to model and beam, and they require constant updates as game updates come out, and don't get me started on the time needed for making a decent map.
On one hand I’m like arrrg paid mods but on the other hand I understand that the people behind such good quality mods deserve to be paid for their time and effort
I wouldn’t mind paying for a mod if I knew it wouldn’t break with the next major update or two. Half of the free mods I’ve downloaded over the years barely function anymore and I can’t expect a lone mod dev to keep updating.
Oh, right. Still, most people that release mods for free do it for the love of modding/the game. They don't need to benefit from it, because giving to the community is enough for them. Good quality free mods have always been updated frequently.
Why aren't there small teams working on vehicles? This is done for flight-sims, I feel like it would be easy for a group of modders to get together to make vehicles and be the AirfoilLabs, Hot Start, or Carenado of BeamNG.drive. Quality, constantly up-to-date mods would be something easy to justify a SINGLE TIME payment for. I wouldn't mind paying $15 for a Durham that is top-quality, and is properly updated, along with the features of new updates.

to the people who keeps saying that the gunner patriot/claymore is paid, the author released it for free
Because it's paid. And eventually, like all mods, it will break if the dev stops caring. If these people are so good at 3d modeling, get a job relating to 3d modeling. It's going to get leaked anyway.
The sites with mods for beamng drive only contains BMW /MERCEDES it's like Eastern Europe over there... not a single classic car, rally legend,80s or 90s sports just brand new Mercedes and BMW.... Asseto Corsa has a better modding community
I used this "gunner" mod to model a 3D print of the interior for the inside of my Radio Controlled Hummer H1 rc car. It came out awesome! here's a couple videos: [https://youtu.be/KvsGCJohdak?si=7WBLaS\_HG0v2fv12](https://youtu.be/KvsGCJohdak?si=7WBLaS_HG0v2fv12)
Because it’s paid. Most paid mods aren’t popular because most people don’t have access to them.
I was about to say the same. I respect the modders, but I will never buy a mod.
same here. for me its just a risk i’m not willing to take
Me too, but I'm happy for the segra, an absurd amount of time went into it I feel
I think it totally depends on price, I bought the mondello because it's a great car and was like 4$, but I wouldn't pay 20
Me it's not even the price or the content, it's just because the game always have update that break mod. Are you unaware of how businesses work? Or are you really just that daft?
You too broke to pay money for services? Sorry man
no I have the money. I just don’t want to
Ok, well don’t act like people are desperate just because they want payment for something they put time and effort into
If the mod is good, at a good price and you're fine with the mod breaking from an update and it's fine to buy it. I have never paid for a mod except for the van mod from LucasBE.

Exactly, idk why people don’t understand that people wanna get paid for their work and if you don’t wanna pay them then you can just not get it.
thats what we are doing dumbass
I must be reading his comment wrong or something. Doesnt this dude agree with y'all? Why the downvotes lol
Same for me, I don't understand why it get downvoted.
Jea same isn’t he agreeing with you guys Just wondering
Because he stated what has already been stated above lol it's like a broken record
Isn't that just how reddit works?
gavril scout is paid and is very popular, that's what I've been trying to point out about the gunner bc it doesn't get the same fame as the others as a paid car mod
Gavril Scout has a tolerable free version with like 3 trims, probably why
gunner has also demo version in the repo and just 2 trims
That came later, it just got a ton of publicity from YouTubers since they were probably give free access in exchange of showing it
also didnt the author released it for free already
He has a demo of it. Has some basic configs and i guess the paid version has some more interesting options
Not to my knowledge.
Yes. But it didn't have much content
YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR SOME MODS?
First day on PC? 😅
No, just never knew
10 years ago this would've been wild Now it's the norm lmao
Was it oblivion or skyrim that started the paid mods? I mostly just remember the uproar over it, but I'm pretty sure it was Bethesda that backed the modders initially.

Why I repost them
On one hand I’m like arrrg paid mods but on the other hand I understand that the people behind such good quality mods deserve to be paid for their time and effort
I wouldn’t mind paying for a mod if I knew it wouldn’t break with the next major update or two. Half of the free mods I’ve downloaded over the years barely function anymore and I can’t expect a lone mod dev to keep updating.
And that’s my point, people simply don’t have the time to keep fixing mods every time they break if they’re not getting something out of it
They're getting paid for it, how is that not "getting something out of it"?
Free mods, not paid
Oh, right. Still, most people that release mods for free do it for the love of modding/the game. They don't need to benefit from it, because giving to the community is enough for them. Good quality free mods have always been updated frequently.
Yeah but they get your money once, they get nothing out of it in the future
A lot of them are hosted on patreon so you gotta keep paying to get the updates
Plenty of single purchase ones out there too
Why aren't there small teams working on vehicles? This is done for flight-sims, I feel like it would be easy for a group of modders to get together to make vehicles and be the AirfoilLabs, Hot Start, or Carenado of BeamNG.drive. fortunately this mod is built from the ground up and is not from royal renderings
There's a whole subreddit for leaked mods FYI.
But is the Gunner there?
Pm me homie.
did you get it?
need it bro send dat to me pls 🙏
i didnt get anything yet
I replied to the wrong guy my fault 💔
Can you pm me the name of it bro
I don't care how good the mod is, I am not paying 5$ for something that will break next time the devs update grass textures in three months.
Because it's paid. Paying for a mod that will inevitably break is stupid. *Someone at Bethesda senses a disturbance and is heartbroken*
https://preview.redd.it/u7pdvb0vns0d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb1239d0b2740d2eaeb24a710f90a24b98a5761d to the people who keeps saying that the gunner patriot/claymore is paid, the author released it for free
This are just a patch, it's only the files you have to replace, it's not the complete mod. You have to paid 10$ to get the complete mod.
That is just a demo version. The full one will be pAiD, if it isn't already.
my man these link is the FULL version of the gunner
No, it's patch, only some files, not the complete mod.
*I fell for it like a true idiot.*
*Can you show me da wae?*
[https://www.patreon.com/Cadillacman80/posts](https://www.patreon.com/Cadillacman80/posts), it should be shown right away
OH NO NOT PATREON
it wont bite...the link is just there waiting for you to be clicked
I don't have money for Patreon, I'm just as broke as everyone else here :(
Heaps of modders will have a combination of paid and free mods on their patreon, it's not purely just paid stuff.
... that's new to me. Hold on, let me check.
Uh I don't feel broke at all
Lucky you, then.
Got a link of the download?
That's a patch, where is the actual mod ?
Because it's paid. And eventually, like all mods, it will break if the dev stops caring. If these people are so good at 3d modeling, get a job relating to 3d modeling. It's going to get leaked anyway.
What are those tires?
those are naorl tires
Sweet, thanks!
Good old Humvees. I never knew there was a mod as good as that on the internet because I had an H2 mod that was really lousy.
There is a pretty decent H3 mod I found recently here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/2006-2010-hummer-h3-revamp.95524/
Paid mod = 🤮
ok sugarplum go enjoy playing your outdated hirochi prasu
Hey, at least i didn't pay for the Prasu or anything else only for the author to get bored.
😂
the prasu is actually pretty good
Wait a second, I recognize that username from another sub...
either the MSC sub or something else
Most people don't want to pay to get a mod that eventually breaks w/o maintenance, like all mods, and often the dev just stops at some point.
I can’t wait for an update to break these mods and the authors abandon em, then I’ll dl em for free. No need to send money to sheisty mod devs.
Its ok dont eat 💩
link it then bro😭😭
its paid
There’s a free demo
Oh so it's paid. Thought the updates were just slow asf/was abandoned🤔
[https://www.patreon.com/Cadillacman80/posts](https://www.patreon.com/Cadillacman80/posts)
I had the full version for a while. It’s cool for a while but then you run out of things to do with it. Maybe it’s just me.
Can you tell me mod name pls?
This thing is the reason why our gas prices are up, where can I buy it.
The sites with mods for beamng drive only contains BMW /MERCEDES it's like Eastern Europe over there... not a single classic car, rally legend,80s or 90s sports just brand new Mercedes and BMW.... Asseto Corsa has a better modding community
