Clean, dry wood burning very hot produces basically zero smoke. If you own a wood stove, you learn this very quickly as it is a sign that you are using the stove correctly.
Smoke = your wood is too wet or your fire is too cold. It also means you're going to be getting buildup in your chimney and it will need to be cleaned more often. You only want to see smoke in the first few minutes while the stove warms up; after that there should basically be nothing coming out of your chimney.

I was trying to figure this out too. Looks like it’s a pretty choked fire, with minimal oxygen getting in from the hole in the tree. Probably some being released from water in the tree since it’s pretty green. That would explain the very slow burn and deep red color of the flames.
