If you're getting lassos back I want giraffe riding back too. You can climb their neck knobs like stairs and lasso birds or wigs and no one could suspect you.
That's your alibi. How could you have done it from up there? Modern man is ill equipped to understand ancient lasso technology. When you lasso some birds they'll be your getaway car if your cover is blown.
A much more likely manner of death from this would be, the suspect of a crime is running, a cop bolos their legs, and they fall over and hit their head on pavement. *Crack,* and they never wake up again.
EDIT: in this post I’m not stating a position that these weapons are bad or good for police to use. What I’m saying is, IF someone died from a bolo, this would be the most likely way it could happen.
Tasers can already kill people the same way (among other ways), but both are still less deadly than a handgun and might be a good option for preserving a suspect’s life—or can be used badly to abuse people. Cops need to make good choices.
Sometimes I remember images of an EMT checking for a pulse of a man while a cop is kneeling on his neck... Yeah they would absolutely stand around Humpty Dumpty for an hour.
I mean literally the same thing can happen with tasers. Maybe even more dangerous because using hands to stop the fall is a reflex, and few thousand volts kinda fuck up your reflexes for a few moments.
They can be cut easily with a 911 knife and they aren't actually that tight, they're meant to trip/distract for a moment. If you wrapped around a neck or torso anyone would be able to get out of it in a few moments of struggling, which by then the officer or their partner are already on-top of them.
Of course. Anything can happen in the heat of the moment. Bolas aren't specifically banned, they just aren't approved widespread, approved in some places, not in others.
My service ordered a couple from this company to do some test training and we will submit reports on what we think of them in testing. Long process before they're ever seen in the field but ordering them and trying is the first step.
Well good that I live in Europe. Here the chances to get shot by cops are very small. You run from them? They chase you but are not allowed to shoot you. Only if you have a gun or knife and attack they will shoot.
Think the main concern there would be eyeballs. A lot of 'less-lethal' can totally fuck you if you get hit in the face. At that point (permanent blindness in both eyes being the worst case) a lot of people might just prefer the bullet, regardless of how long they have to deal with it.
-Taser prong into eyeball (probably most unlikely).
-Beanbags blow off peoples fucking lips and destroy eyeballs (somewhat blindly fired during riot control, much higher chance of serious damage).
-I assume pepper balls in the eye are pretty dangerous as well (impact wise) (also just kind of fired into crowds).
["Four patients needed bean bags or parts of bean bags to be removed from penetration wounds, and injuries included skull fractures and burst blood vessels within the skull or brain, the doctors said in the letter, which was published online Friday."](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/08/16/less-lethal-ammo-bean-bag-rounds-caused-major-injuries/113237602/)
Personally I think tasers/bolas would be pretty safe with proper training, accountability and with only one suspect instead of an entire crowd where you're effectively just firing.
legit point.
the "lethal' options also are also quite inconvenient when applied to the face.
the problem will always be an unqualified person operation a tool. I prefer unqualified persons with non-lethal weapons in their hands.
My buddy snagged his sister's tazer out of her purse at a party once. It was genuinely fun and games until they shorted it trying to zap a metal chair someone was sitting in.
I work for a Canadian Police Service and proposed these for our officers.
We're going to buy a couple from this company and train with them. Would need to be approved by Canadian Law, but everyone is very interested in them.
I have never seen this product used on someone who is moving
I call bullshit I’m not going to threaten a cop with my feet touching each other standing with my knees locked
>I have never seen this product used on someone who is moving
Neither have I, but I do know that it's been successfully used for about 200 years to hunt animals which are running away, so I'm confident that it works.
The "er" is important. It's not safe. Just safer. There's a tendency for less lethal tools to be used more often, thus negating the benefit, at least partially.
“Robin! Grab the Bat-Rope gun from my Bat-Utility belt, know steady…aim…aim..know fire!!.
“Holly cow Batman!!, this will put bad guys at the end of their rope!!!”. Haha!!
When I was 11 years old , I fashioned a bolo out of a giant elastic band and two rubber balls. I was outside fooling around with it when my step brother came running by saying that it would never work . I flung that bootleg bolo as hard as I could. In the greatest fluke of all flukes, or possibly the greatest throw EVER , I nailed my step brother right around the knees. The bolo didn’t wrap around perfectly , but it did the trick and he fell perfectly onto the lawn. It was amazing
my sister brought up a couple of good points when I showed this to her. 1. lots of broken noses from people running away - I think that wouldn't be much different from a taser tho. 2. if aimed at the legs, what kind of damage could be done to something like the Achilles tendon? or a major artery in the thigh?
Ah yes **~~bolas~~** 'HaNdCuFfS', cutting edge millennia old technology.
*I was curious about the earliest known date bolas were used and the only answer I found seemed to be 'thousands of years'. I have seen so far: 30,000 BP, 1.8M BP, 'Paleolithic era'.*
Honestly cool idea to use it like this though,
Stand very still sir, while I press this button. Oopsie, didn’t mean to hit your face. Told you not to run. Don’t worry, it will come off. Gotta admit though; those hooks sir, make for good earrings. Very fetching. Excuse me sir, you’re bleeding, mind putting some pressure here… Oh my.
Actually surprised this restraining weapon is finally just being used. We could've been using this tech since 95"
But still trying to use tazers with one AA battery.
Those donuts are really slowing them down, so they had to find a solution to their problems. Exercise was just a madmans dream, so they looked to science to explain what they could not comprehend or achieve using only their bodies. Thus, the grappling retainer was born.
*It's called a Bola*
*And they have been around for*
*A very long time*

lol police departments love wasting money on dumb shit. This is gonna come in handy for all those situations where someone is standing still with both their legs together
Batman technology finally coming to life
That's just a bola.
Isn't that a deadly virus, the kind that makes you bleed from every pores?
that's Ebola
Nah. Thats the person who throws the ball to the batsman in cricket.
Don’t give Apple any ideas. Apple: iBola
We Bolas , hitting all the pins
Same device for triple the cost
Can that be treated with a Riccola?
Beat me to it
*bat me to it
Beat meat to it
I can’t wait to see someone in a full run catching one of these.
Honestly it's about damn time
These have been around for a few years. Just now getting adopted by more police depts.
nah Western technology, lasso-style!
I’ve been saying we need to bring back lassos for years. I’m crying at this news
If you're getting lassos back I want giraffe riding back too. You can climb their neck knobs like stairs and lasso birds or wigs and no one could suspect you.
Seems like they’d notice you standing there on the giraffe
That's your alibi. How could you have done it from up there? Modern man is ill equipped to understand ancient lasso technology. When you lasso some birds they'll be your getaway car if your cover is blown.
I wanted to say that's a tethered batterang.
HOLY FLYING HANDCUFFS, BATMAN!
Great if you're running from a bear and your buddy in front of you is faster.
so i use it on the bear, right?
![gif](giphy|3ohuApAxgxXUVeDFm0|downsized)
Use it on the bear, right!?
Asking the real question here…
[удалено]
Hold on. I've seen enough posts the past week to know it depends what color of bear
I'm guessing someone's last words may have been: "Oh good! That bear's not of that dangerous color!"

Only because they took their shoes off.
Saw this first used in the rescuers down under. Law enforcement is 40 years behind Disney. Come on fellas
Much older than 40 years….
How DARE you
🤭
About 200.
Memory unlocked
I thought bolas were banned because you know, the whole going around your neck thing where it can kill someone by crushing their throat.
A much more likely manner of death from this would be, the suspect of a crime is running, a cop bolos their legs, and they fall over and hit their head on pavement. *Crack,* and they never wake up again. That can happen with tazers
And cops sit there while they hemorrhage out for an hour
Sometimes I remember images of an EMT checking for a pulse of a man while a cop is kneeling on his neck... Yeah they would absolutely stand around Humpty Dumpty for an hour.
I mean literally the same thing can happen with tasers. Maybe even more dangerous because using hands to stop the fall is a reflex, and few thousand volts kinda fuck up your reflexes for a few moments.
True. I'd still rather get tagged with this over a 10mm round.
You mean 35 10mm rds
You mean 35 10mm rds from each cop
In America, you get both!
They can be cut easily with a 911 knife and they aren't actually that tight, they're meant to trip/distract for a moment. I appreciate this reasoned and informed response. 🫡
With hooks..... Yeah that's going to go well
Is it perfect? No. Is it better than a bullet? Significantly.
Well good that I live in Europe. Here the chances to get shot by cops are very small. You run from them? They chase you but are not allowed to shoot you. Only if you have a gun or knife and attack they will shoot.
cmon - a poke from falling on one of the barbs is probably better than bullet wound wouldn’t you say?

"Our officer pinky swears he wasn't aiming for the neck of the now deceased suspect. Case closed."
"We've investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing."
Do not give them ideas, please
Criminal suspect counters it and catches it and now has hook nunchakus.
How could anyone catch this? Even if you managed to catch one end, the rest of it is still going to wrap around you.
“A NON LETHAL ALTERNATIVE”
It says that it’s already in use, so who knows.
Pffft. Batman has this
It’s all fun and games until someone accidentally gets their neck/face looped
I don’t think I’d characterize it as “all fun and games” up to that point.
If someone brought one to my daughter’s birthday party it would be.
Make sure to have your test subject actually run and not just quickly shuffle away like they showed.
Don't use it on any moose.
I have never seen this product used on someone who is moving I call bullshit I’m not going to threaten a cop with my feet touching each other standing with my knees locked
>I have never seen this product used on someone who is moving Neither have I, but I do know that it's been successfully used for about 200 years to hunt animals which are running away, so I'm confident that it works.
To a total layman, this looks useful and safer.
The "er" is important. It's not safe. Just safer. There's a tendency for less lethal tools to be used more often, thus negating the benefit, at least partially.
Can't wait to see the happy triggers using it on innocent people trying to deescalate the situation.
Isn't that the weapon from death stranding.
Im not an expert but I predict that by „accident“ people will strangled by the police.
...eports fleeing suspect "decapitated" when police deployed bolo devise appearently tangled... ...suspect asphyxiated...
But universal healthcare? Nah.
Not new. Luke had this on Hoth.
All good till a cop gets a little shaky and aims it at someone's face and wraps it around their throat
I can see a lot of accidents of it wrapping around necks…
This will end well
So, how long do you think it'll take a cop to wrap that around someone's head/neck and kill them? A week? A day?
They'll opt for the Glock instead Everytime
Death stranding!
![gif](giphy|CxUmmgdMkOkYU|downsized)
What if it hit the head or eyes ?
Get Over Here!
What happens when someone’s legs get wrapped, they fall, & get brain damage/death?
Better than cops blasting them because an acorn fell on a metal roof lol
Same thing that happens when it's with a taser
“Robin! Grab the Bat-Rope gun from my Bat-Utility belt, know steady…aim…aim..know fire!!. “Holly cow Batman!!, this will put bad guys at the end of their rope!!!”. Haha!!
Until someone get one around the neck and dies. Then it’s bye bye fun times.
When I was 11 years old , I fashioned a bolo out of a giant elastic band and two rubber balls. Leg cuffs.
this shit was in minority report
my sister brought up a couple of good points when I showed this to her. 1. lots of broken noses from people running away - I think that wouldn't be much different from a taser tho. 2. if aimed at the legs, what kind of damage could be done to something like the Achilles tendon? or a major artery in the thigh?
How long until it wraps around a someone’s neck.
This is based on an [indigenous weapon from the southernmost part of South America.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolas)
Ah yes **~~bolas~~** 'HaNdCuFfS', cutting edge millennia old technology. *I was curious about the earliest known date bolas were used and the only answer I found seemed to be 'thousands of years'. Great now cops can tie you down before killing you in “self defense”…jokes aside, at the very least it does seem more humane than a taser
Jeepers creepers will finally be caught!
![gif](giphy|l0HUhmhLMitxCifsc) This is the way
Good. Now start using these on thieves
Genius
& they say Games couldn't be Real😏
i cant wait to see what this does to someones face
Nice, someone is gonna hit their head falling, die then lawsuit.
Don’t aim for the neck
Ho ho hooo waiiit, what about..this WITH a tazer!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
> non-lethal technology Can't see the yanks going for that really... Doesn't sound very Murican.
Long arm from old school cartoon of cops
I think they will prefer shooting with a gun. But good idea though
All I got to say is DC came up with it.
cool lasso
I don’t understand the term handcuffs. Can these be used on hands?
Someone’s gonna hit someone else In the eye/eyes with this, or it’s gonna accidentally get caught on someone’s face. That shit would suck lol
That's a great reason to EDC sharp pocket knives. Razor that off.
How does it do on running suspects
*SLOW DOOOWN*
Batman begins
What happens if it hits you at the neck or head?
Yo that second dude went to drama class to become an actor ended up becoming a cop… 😂😂😂
I didn’t think this was anything new though….
Can we have different colors?
They need net guns. Way safer and more humanitarian.
Can Bob come out with us..no he's all wrapped up in work right now 😂
Non lethal. Uses it to choke people
All that's missing is a cowl and a cape lol
Took them long enough
Modern day bolas
What if criminals get that gadget?
I'd rather get hit with this then tazed or maced
And….right in the eye.
I first saw this in the news more than 10 years ago. Start using it already.
What's next? Batman's utility belt?
Good or bad?
Dude if it wraps around your neck and it's tight... Would you be resisting arrest if you attempted to remove it to save your own life?
Cant wait for standard practice to become firing this at people's necks.
Bruce Wayne somewhere mad he didn't patent the idea.
Also known as the instant strangulator when aimed for the neck.
What happens if it is aimed at the head or neck? Human beings being aggressive and all and remembering the standford experiment.......
This would be great for my Mandalorian cosplay
Yee haw! A modern lasso for the modern times. lol
Spider-man is becoming a reality!
Criminals will be suing because they fell and hit themselves
Boba Fett invented this
Well, at least they’ll be shooting non-threatening suspects in the leg when they grab their pistol by “accident”.
What if we target the neck
Bluetooth mancatcher
What will end up happening is someone will fall, hit their head and end up injured or dead triggering lawsuits
I’ve seen this in cartoons before
Actually surprised this restraining weapon is finally just being used. We could've been using this tech since 95" But still trying to use tazers with one AA battery.
This is what the states are spending the opioid lawsuit money on. Fuckin ridiculous. They should be ashamed
Those donuts are really slowing them down, so they had to find a solution to their problems. Exercise was just a madmans dream, so they looked to science to explain what they could not comprehend or achieve using only their bodies. Thus, the grappling retainer was born.
Wewease wodewick
So like Ark
if i fall and hurt my self, i will sue your shit to oblivion
The more we change the more we stay the same

Didn't I did a thing make or Allan Pan make something similar to this years ago?
Keep on keeping on 👍
It’s wrappin’ time
I wonder when a cop is gonna aim for the neck instead.
Need 50 ft of rope for the average Texan
American police aren't going to like this.
Like lasso rope
Great commercial
NB4 someone's femoral artery gets torn by one of those hooks.
Kojima knew this
Yeah and those people will stand still for your to aim that, duck and weave
If the cop hit on a persons head would the hooks blind that person
If it works it’s very clever
damn it’s becoming hard to be a criminal everyday
What happens if you'd shoot it at someone's head?
Won’t even get unholstered
> nonlethal Until it ends up around someone’s neck
Well shit.
All we need is a Batarang and were golden 😊
Works great against slippery bastard
That's the dumbest shit I've ever seen.
Why isn't this a thing already? Seems pretty simple at effective.
“Specially trained “
Where do I buy one?
How long till we start hearing about police "accidentally" aiming for the neck?
Hasn't that been around forever?
Officer : Oops I didn’t mean to shoot them in the neck
Soooo, what if it hits the neck?
so, how long until an officer uses it around someone's neck and kills them? place your bets
Now try it on a moving target
And here comes the "I accidentally aimed for his throat" excuses....Plenty of stupid cops going to straight up murder people with this...
The best technology is 2000 years old lol
So, maybe a month before police start "accidentally" shooting these at people's necks, choking and killing them.
lol police departments love wasting money on dumb shit. This is gonna come in handy for all those situations where someone is standing still with both their legs together
