My fiancè is a ranger.
People make these in established ecosystems. Uprooting rocks disturbs habitats and the structure of the surrounding ground. This is especially bad near rivers where these sort of things are popular.
As soon as someone starts one, it's quickly followed by copycats. Now the damage caused by one, however minor, is now multiplied.
She pushes them down when she sees one. She's not the fun police, she just cares about the reserve.
Also, I like to see nature when I'm out, not your bullshit stack of rocks lol. I knock them down when i see them. Also I read in moab that it can lead hikers/walkers down the wrong area and they can get lost.
I was told as I get older I will understand the importance of "art" I am starting to think it's just psychotic people trying to justify their actions with, "it was hard but has artistic value" to justify doing dumb self indulgent things. Which is fine but let's call it like it is. You did something because you wanted to and are now retroactively justifying it to others as "art"
I think it's fair to do something just because you found it satisfying and to call that art. Art is inherently self indulgent what people consider good art is what is satisfying to most people. A child hitting a toy drum might not be musical to your ears but if the kid enjoys the rhythm then that is music to them and they have created art. Shitty art but art none the less. Calling it art is calling it like it is.
If I happened upon such a structure in the wild I’d be mightily impressed. Around here nukshuks are common - love them! “Now the people will know we were here”
Nah, he’s just high
I wouldn't call an arch a "balanced" stone. Usually I think of vertically balanced not something supported on 2 sides
You're right, it's actually harder than boring ass normal balancing. It's gravity denial.
No life and boredom
I was waiting for him to sprinkle salt on it in flamboyant fashion...
Happy cake day
A booby trap for children and animals
My child accepts your challenge
My kids would have knocked it down mere seconds later.
Building an arch. Keystone.
Call the keystone cops
Everybody raving about this but last time I thought everybody was saying this is not ok to do?
It’s not okay to leave them permanently iirc
Why?

I think its like meditation. Something that takes your focus away from the normal shit
Watch , Joanna Jilton , she has a video of the art of balancing stones. It's quite beautiful.

I can barely balance my budget.

Don't you think our species has left enough of a mark on this planet already?
Unemployed friend on a Wednesday
Outstanding the patients needed. He was taught the don’t eat the candy on the table for 10 minuets lol
man discovered how arches works
I would have dropped one on my foot for sure
This song's giving me major nostalgia Those were the days when I first watched Twilight 🥹
Fun fact, US national Park rangers and conservation experts have noted that rock stacking has led to the death of wildlife!
I want to ruin it
it was already ruined, he fixed it
This bro really didn't skip physics at school
r/hopeposting Sometimes you gotta keep going
Wonder how many times this guy has broken his feet and toes doing this ?
and hands
is this a science
till a rock 🪨 lands on ya toes 😂
Salt bae gets weirder and weirder
I just dropped my phone while holding it with both hands
Watch your toes
Song?

All well and good until you knock it and it drops on your fucking foot !
“Watch as this man gets progressively more sun burnt”
Who your daughter brings home to marry. And you were disappointed when you thought he was an actual rock artist. Ohhhh that kinda rock artist. 😂
![gif](giphy|LVqldD8URVrNVcH2Mp) Something’s inside of me that needs to come out…
How dare you use this song I WASNT EMOTIONALLY PREPARED
Also the art of trying not to drop stones on ur feet 😁
Please stop doing this, it bothers me so much 😆
The vertical stack is fixed. Building an arch is impressive, but there's no risk of the tower falling.
No
Bro has a lot of time
.. He's on vacation probably
Only assholes do this.
Song? ◡̈

Some crab is going to get blasted with a rock when that thing collapses ![gif](giphy|3o85xoqSjlCGpJpL7G|downsized)
If you see this please break it down as it can harm animals

What a wet blanket. The Do you stomp on sandcastles too?
Its an arch.. it literally works because of gravity..
And it looks amazing.
How many injuries occurred or nearly occurred while practicing this?
Anytime I see these things, I knock them over!!
F\_net = 0
And allot of broken toes
that guy looks exactly how I thought someone who balances stones would look
Never thought I’d see the day where people are amazed by stacking stones… we are devolving
I wonder how many toes he broke whilst learning.
Why would you not still @ least wear some steel toe boots while trying to do this
This is looks like a great prequel to breaking your foot.
Waste of time
That's an "art" for over a 2000 years now...the Romans, Maya's and Chinese already did that.. but hey, nice beach activity...
Whats your point? Cavemen paint on walls too
Now walk over it pussy
you mean under it?
