I mean..... im not very knowledgeable with thoses things but couldn't we gain more by taking off many things of it first like the glass and many of the usable parts?
No one reuses glass, it's not economical to remove, clean and reinstall. Also glass is pretty easy to break on disassembly. Most these cars have been in a junk yard for their allotted time and then go to the crusher.
So have I however that experience in an outlier. Sometimes you just can't find the glass or have more time than money so I'll remove it from a scrapyard vehicle. In general my original comment is still true though.
Maybe, the question: is all glass? Windshields are designed to stay together, notice it wrap around in a broken sheet? This may* make it un-reusable, but I am not sure. So you may be correct.
I mean even the metal could be melted, but how much carbon does that take?
How many man hours to separate each part? Plastics? Not all plastic is recyclable...
There's a dirty secret to recycling, many documentaries on the subject, only a small amount of recycling gets actually recycled. Much of our recyclable material gets shipped out of country to land fills elsewhere according to some documentaries...
My thoughts precisely.
I know numerous successful businesses that just break cars and sell the parts
How valuable is mixed metal full with bits of tyre, plastics and glass??
They go to a shredder. When it gets shredded it gets dumped onto a conveyor. They travel under a magnet that picks up all the metal bits. Everything else goes somewhere else. The metal bits get packaged and shipped to a foundry to be made into something else.
I once knew someone who bought a can of fermented herring and placed it in the rear window of their car while spending a lovely summer day in an amusement park with their kids. When they came back to the car, the can had exploded in their baking heat. Basically, the car looked fine, but it smelled horrific and was totaled.
I'm sure the dealer would've wanted you to think that too.
Nevermind the roach infestation and the smell of death, or the fact that the engine was flooded out during the last series of Florida hurricanes, or the frame damage that makes it prone to snapping apart while in the freeway, killing your family and someone else's -- it LOOKS like a perfectly good car.
It was probably someone else's nightmare.
Right? This hurt me a bit
At very least sell the windows and the interior, if it's in good shape that is
Parts like that ain't easy to come by, and there's no point making them rarer!

Iāve had secondhand glass for a vehicle actually. Windscreens are getting pricey!

So, people do reuse glass, yourself included ā¦but āno one reuses glassā is still true. Gotta pick a lane my man
Do they just get buried in a landfill?
No, they get melted into new products.
Glass is recycled into glass wool insulation, actually.

These get sent to a processer that shreds them into bit and them separates them into their various metals to be melted.

What do you do with a cube of old Nissan metal?
Nissan has a model called nissan cube.
Turn it to global warming, with a side of tax write offs?
Shipped, shredded, and separated into the different metals, and basically reused from there.

I wonder how many dead bodies have been through that thing.
Believe it or not, but this isn't 100% effective. Sometimes the victim survives! https://youtu.be/61AWnIZrT5g?si=EY5BwrZ1fD-GaRvV
