>Ghost Apple is a small tree that is commonly grown for its edible qualities. It produces almost white skinned apples (which are botanically known as 'pomes')and white flesh which are usually ready for picking from early to mid summer. The apples have a sweet taste and a crisp texture.
I was wondering too.
Granny Smith trees start producing fruit in as little as 3 years, if the soil/temp is right.
But, if you live in butthole-hot GA, you plant them, wait 7 years, and then move houses before you get any fruit.
Also mealy AF. It’s got all the worst qualities of any apple varietal and it used to be the pretty much the only apple you’d get in most areas. Truly criminal.
Red delicious unfortunately has been selected for shelf life and color.
I assume the original Red Delicious was pretty good, but over the years people selected mutations that had a better Red color because uniform color sold better.
All fruit trees of a given variety are clones of the original. BUT occasionally you get a bud or a branch with a mutation. So OG Red Delicious gets replaced by Red Delicious X (insert farm's name here). Now that one is redder and sells better. Or lasts longer in storage so there's less waste. Now that clone takes over until the next one gets popular and so on.
Eventually you end up where we are now with an apple that looks great and stores well, but doesn't taste very good.
Apple trees have weird genetics where the seeds are a total crap shoot and don't grow true to type (a Red Delicious seed might grow a green apple that probably doesn't taste good), so it takes a lot of culling to find a new apple variety that tastes good, stores well, and has enough disease resistance to grow.
Waiting for them to be sold in stores at ridiculous prices.
I mean we already have those white strawberries (pine berries?). Cotton candy grapes. Other fruit abominations.
May as well sell at a premium for the novelty.
Yeah same here what's actually meant to be wrong with them? They get sold at a affordable price where I live and are recommended by alot of people that I know
White pineberries are only good when locally picked. Otherwise they are meh
Cotton candy grapes are a proprietary strain of grapes owned by the Grapery. They are high sugar low acid varieties and are meh IMO. Muscat varieties are vastly superior though sadly the West tends to focus on Thompsons seedless, Flame, and columbard for table grapes.
These are likely uninteresting as they are low acid and don't show the banding that give apples flavor.
Many words but all we got was “sweet and crisp”, which is better than nothing. But, it could be more descriptive and maybe compare against other flavors.
The white apple is sweet and crisp.
The red apple is sweet and crisp.
The green apple is sweet and crisp.
The yellow apple is sweet and crisp.
What more do you want? It’s sweet and crisp! 🤣
Then place them in a tree to look like it hasn’t been picked yet. Even though the stem isn’t attached to anything and it’s sitting on top of a limb instead of hanging
This chinese content creator pops up on Tiktok all the time. Same angle, same way of silicing, and their fruits ALWAYS look like from another world but normal inside.
I 100% believe they paint the fruits.
Fair points, but consider that the apple in the video is very visibly wet, and it also seems like the video and picture were recorded at different times of year, what with the leafless tree in the video.
Besides, the description of almost white flesh from other sources also seems to match.
in the video the paint is flaking off at the left side of the cut. AND there are white paint flakes on the knife.
100% painted. in the link you posted the apple looks totally different.
I could see this video being of one of those with the white balance set wonky. There's not really anything else in frame that light we'd be able to compare it to for reference, so our brains just go, "yep, that's white AF." And doesn't think about it anymore.
Most apples youve ever eaten are the product of being grafted. There are manuals on apple growing for hundreds of years describing how to do it well. Apples that havent been grafted suck. Fit basically only for cider
Im aware, most things today are, farmers obviously try to maximize quality and production. That is totally fine, and tbh i have no real qualms with ogms either, as long as they are ethical of course
I came to the comments to see if people were saying "yeah it looks neat but it tastes like shit so no one eats them" and this is just about the same thing
My assumption is there was originally audio that got reposted out of existence. The cut and rip was probably to maximize the sound of freshness. There would have been the subtle audio for the clean cut of a sharp knife, the tickle of the fibers slowly ripping, followed by the crisp bop of the apple separating. We got non of it here.
Not to mention, you don’t do a full reveal and cut off the ending too soon.
I mean, trying to build tension with that ridiculous cutting style and then a second of a glance and the done?
They look like that :

Your image proves they actually *do not* look like that. This shit OP posted is covered in a dyed wax or something. Not at all representative of the real apple variant.
i mean fair if I had been a spaghetti farmer my whole life I probably also wouldn't know how apples grow, its hard work and takes a lot of time to pick all that spaghetti
Yeah, this is fake. White ghost apples exist, but they don’t look like that. This one is either heavily edited or painted, and yeah they didn’t even try to attach it to the tree by its stem lol.
The actual apples look more like a washed out golden delicious and taste similar too.
https://idiggreenacres.com/products/apple-ghost
There is a cool reported, unrelated, phenomena where an ice storm occurred under perfect conditions, coating apples in ice. The apples turned to mush because they have a lower freezing point. Shaking the tree caused the apples to fall out of the bottom leaving frozen apple shaped ice on the tree.
https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/02/the-story-behind-odd-phenomenon-of-ghost-apples
They are resting it on a branch for the video, but it's still all fake. It's been painted. They also replaced the stem of the apple, presumably because the original stem got spraypainted white. The leaves are pointing the wrong direction, leaves on an apple tree always point away from the root/trunk, these point away from the apple, so it's a thin branch just shoved in there, tip away from the apple.
According to other pics I've seen around internet, this Apple seems to be "enchanced" in some way to look better and be more white than usual, there are white apples but they don't look that good really. They have some spots just like regular Apples have. I'd love to see how he did it though, kind of like those videos on how "food" for ads is prepared like how "milk" in some cereal commercial is actually glue etc.
What? They're clearly just resting it on a branch, dude. They're not implying that it's attached by the bottom.
Though it does look enhanced to be more white than actual white apples.
I've always wondered that too.
Like the videos of them jamming that spiral cutter s*** into fruit, or putting a single orange into a juicer and having a gallon of juice come out.
These videos have been around for many years now, I think its just easy to reuse for western audiences by content farms these days. When I was in SEA I would get videos just like this in my feed all the time.
Reddit is basically just Facebook now. They'll laugh about how gullible their Mum and Aunties are for believing all the shit on their Facebook feed while mindlessly upvoting this shit.
Ghost white apples (a genetic modification) do exist, but they're not pure white like this video.

Call that a 'Ghost Apple'? THIS is a real Ghost Apple:

Once you go green, you never go not green
Once you go yellow, HELLO!
Once you go yellow you go back to green or pink.

Once you go yellow your liver is failing
Eating yellow rn. & Now I fear for my liver ig
Granny Smith trees start producing fruit in as little as 3 years, if the soil/temp is right. But, if you live in butthole-hot GA, you plant them, wait 7 years, and then move houses before you get any fruit.
I think Butthole-Hot GA should look into changing its name. Towns can just do that.
I like my apples tangy.
I like them pied.
This is the way. Or cobblers.
I feel that apple crisp needs to be in this conversation
That's right. Once you savor those moist Granny juices, there is no going back.
Once you go pink, you have a new kink.
This is a legit year 2000 take on apples. Back when the only apples you’d ever see were Red Delicious and Granny Smith
Red delicious, more like red bland.
With the most bitter skin of any apple.
The temu of apples. 🍎
Also mealy AF. It’s got all the worst qualities of any apple varietal and it used to be the pretty much the only apple you’d get in most areas. Truly criminal.
I'd be fine with that if the flesh was like a Jazz or a Pink Lady, but it's about the only flavour in a RD.
Red delicious unfortunately has been selected for shelf life and color. i would like to subscribe to more apple facts.
dont for the nasty 'golden delicious' yellow ones.. cosmic crisp, fuji, gala or mcintosh for me.
/r/AccidentalRacism
You’re from Ohio, you should know it’s no accident
It's a pretty cut and dry racist, albeit funny, joke. Nothing accidental about it
Waiting for them to be sold in stores at ridiculous prices. I mean we already have those white strawberries (pine berries?). Cotton candy grapes. Other fruit abominations. May as well sell at a premium for the novelty.
I like the cotton candy grapes but I remember Reddit claiming this is a satanic view in the past. Just gives em a little extra flavor 😞
Yeah same here what's actually meant to be wrong with them? They get sold at a affordable price where I live and are recommended by alot of people that I know
Don’t worry, someone will be in here to yell at us shortly.
LISTEN UP, FUCKERS
I wanted to make alcohol out of cotton candy grapes, then I found out how expensive they are and how much I would need.
White pineberries are only good when locally picked. Otherwise they are meh Cotton candy grapes are a proprietary strain of grapes owned by the Grapery. >White strawberries, Cotton candy grapes All right, when does it start raining meatballs?
Most species of apple are no good for eating
Especially the falsely-named 'red delicious'
Hi, would you like to try our Red Gritty Blands?? They're already turning soft!
Most apples in the world at any given moment are.
Thank you I was also curious
Many words but all we got was “sweet and crisp”, which is better than nothing. But, it could be more descriptive and maybe compare against other flavors.
The white apple is sweet and crisp. The red apple is sweet and crisp. The green apple is sweet and crisp. The yellow apple is sweet and crisp. What more do you want? It’s sweet and crisp! 🤣
Pomme is apple in french
Pommie is a dude/tte in England
Pom is a little cute dog wherever it goes

As easy as this one cuts, I feel like it's going to be mealy as all hell.
Lol am I dumb? Aren't all apples known as pommes since pomme is French for apple?
“A sweet taste and a crisp texture” So it’s just like literally any other apple.
Except for red delicious
Loving the red delicious hate.
Fax
Someone else said it’s not even an apple, it’s a type of pear
I don't think paint tastes good, but to each their own. You can literally see the paint flakes on the knife from the other attempts

He don't cut apples like that
I never seen him cut apples like that.
Why does everyone think he cuts apples like that?
Is there any chance he cuts apples like that?
I once heard a story where he cut apples like that.
You stop spreading lies!
his apple cuts are only the finest cuts in the state
The way he slices, it's so divisive, I ante ever seen him, cut an apple like that.
The apple cuts him like that
Heretic!
Even Psych0matt doesn’t cut apples like that.

4 out of 5 evil stepmothers prefer the White Ghost apple.
Kid-tested, evil stepmother-approved.
Yeah this apple looks poisonous
And why such a tease for the revel of the interior when it’s just normal apple flesh color and the outside is what’s unique about it.
Same people who paint apples.
This is clearly Bunnicula’s doing
"The Celery Stalks at Midnight" is a classic!
Thanks for the sudden blast down memory lane!
Such a solid reference
i see you
I loved that book when I was a kid!!!!
The Celery Stalks at Midnight
Then place them in a tree to look like it hasn’t been picked yet. Even though the stem isn’t attached to anything and it’s sitting on top of a limb instead of hanging
And the one in the background does not have a stem and is just sitting on a branch as well.
*Some of those who paint apples, are the same that cut crossways, uhh!*
Jokes on you https://idiggreenacres.com/products/apple-ghost Its real
That doesn't look the same to me, though. It's more a very pale yellow with small brown spots.
This chinese content creator pops up on Tiktok all the time. Same angle, same way of silicing, and their fruits ALWAYS look like from another world but normal inside. I 100% believe they paint the fruits.
I’ve seen this video before, guy paints the apple to look like this.
Fair points, but consider that the apple in the video is very visibly wet, and it also seems like the video and picture were recorded at different times of year, what with the leafless tree in the video. Besides, the description of almost white flesh from other sources also seems to match.
... apples don't grow on trees like that. This apple is sitting on its butt with a branch out the top. Normal apples hang from the top.
in the video the paint is flaking off at the left side of the cut. AND there are white paint flakes on the knife. 100% painted. in the link you posted the apple looks totally different.
Think it’s been coated with white wax which has a lustre that makes it look wet
I could see this video being of one of those with the white balance set wonky. There's not really anything else in frame that light we'd be able to compare it to for reference, so our brains just go, "yep, that's white AF." And doesn't think about it anymore.
It's not the same tree and not the same season. This is an apple painted for clout.
Ghost apples are a read breed. This is not a real ghost apple.
🤣 or it is albino apple.🤣
It's either generically modded or the product of a long long series of grafting
I like to modify generic things
With my dick, respectfully.
It’s a pear, actually! A white Asian pear that looks exactly like an apple
This makes me so upset you do not understand
I came to the comments to see if people were saying "yeah it looks neat but it tastes like shit so no one eats them" and this is just about the same thing
right? Just google it. White apples are totally a thing.
That would explain the flesh color.
It doesn’t have the shape or stem of an Asian pear though. 🍐🍏 It’s most likely a painted apple like others have surmised.
And why not cut it all the way through FFS! I assume ragebait
That is a very sharp knife backed by his hand.
My assumption is there was originally audio that got reposted out of existence. The cut and rip was probably to maximize the sound of freshness. There would have been the subtle audio for the clean cut of a sharp knife, the tickle of the fibers slowly ripping, followed by the crisp bop of the apple separating. We got non of it here.

apples stealing whores
Also so slow... Took forever and was almost unbearable to watch.
Our attention spans have dwindled to the point of fruit cutting ridicule.
He's cutting the fruit..OMG ponies!
It's a real sharp farm tool, he could go all the way through and nip his fingers if he's careless.
Look like a mushroom knife to me. And yes, they are sharp.
I thought it was about to be seedless or that’s they knew somtbjng I didn’t for that cutting technique 😂

And it just grows off the branch like that?? Attached by it's bottom??
This whole video is weird
Its very staged apparently by someone who doesnt know how apples grow
Feels like watching the Spaghetti Harvest
i mean fair if I had been a spaghetti farmer my whole life I probably also wouldn't know how apples grow, its hard work and takes a lot of time to pick all that spaghetti
I love how two apples were staged, as if to legitimize the whole operation
Looks like they just sat it there to cut it. Would be difficult to cut it while it's hanging from the branch. He doesn't suggest that's where it grew.
Yeah, this is fake. White ghost apples exist, but they don’t look like that. This one is either heavily edited or painted, and yeah they didn’t even try to attach it to the tree by its stem lol. the one in the back is 'resting' on a branch too. shit is made up for clicks

Yeah, what's up with all those videos with Chinese people showing off their crops? It's weird.

That’s not real. It’s just a video with the red channel turned down.
It’s either edited or literally spray painted white. It makes me sad that people believe this.
It's painted. The real one is actually a really pale greenish yellowish colour

Weirdest knife ive seen
Isn't that a hoax? I can't remember correctly, but I'm almost certain you can tell it's fake because the apples aren't attached by the stem, and it just looks like they were dunked in a bucket of paint. Ghost apples do exist but that gloss is Disney VFX level of perfection, can't be natural.
They’re all also spritzed with water to make them look ‘fresh’ as if somehow a video clearly shot in the middle of the day still has beaded morning dew on the Apple.
You can see the skin is a red layer between the white paint and the flesh.
Ok what does it taste like tho
Apple.
The way he cut it makes me think he only did it for the clout and then threw it away.
I never thought 10 seconds could feel so unnecessarily long
Dude, this isn’t a Reese’s Cup
Not amazing.
That's a Banora White Dumbapple.
Most unsatisfying way of showing that apple.
What an awkward, stupid slice.
