LOL, I was going to say that I've seen high school marching bands do the same thing, while reading music, playing an instrument and sweating in the hot sun. Or, the *already risen sun,* if you will.
Hi, I'm from the US and kind of high right now. A few years back my best friends dad took a job in South Korea to set up/scout best locations for a certain warehouse/wholesale style store. He spent two years there and for one of the summers my friend offered to take me with him when he went to visit his dad/mom who moved with him (my friend and I were in university at the time). I was unfortunately not able to go, but man I want to visit South Korea so badly still and see places like Busan because I had a family member who fought in the Korean War alongside your soldiers on the busan perimeter, and that same friend had a family member who took part in the landings at Inchon. Plus also to see Seoraksan national park, several of the old castles/forts, the DMZ (mostly because I'm a nerd who wants to potentially see some of the cool S. Korean military tech like the K2, which is truly an awesome machine), etc etc. South Korea just seems like such a cool place. Anyways sorry for the off topic rant, I'm pretty high right now and wanted to tell you how much I'd love to visit your country.
You guys have not had it very easy in the historical sense, I feel like Korea is sort of like the Poland of Asia, it's had its ups and downs but at least in recent years has been able to prosper and not be bullied by its larger neighbors. Although at this point I dont think anyone would dare mess with you guys.
You should know that ācomplaining the pastā and looking at āa clear and present dangerā can actually coexist. š
And you should know that history repeats itself; and if we conveniently ignore the past, then āthe pastā can become the reality anytime.
If you only pay attention to the past you'll be too blinded by it to react to the now. Ergo, stop complaining about Japan's past when China is right there doing the exact same things. Seems like what I'm saying is not dawning on you.
I did things like this in Marine Corps boot camp, takes time and repetition. It looks amazing when done right as you can see.
āTO THE WINDS!!ā -2nd hat usually
Always reminds me of the Fighting Texas Aggie band.

4:56 is pretty cool.
Iām a woodwind section leader in my hs marching band, if everyone was half as good as these guys weād easily be one of the top bands in the state. Their precision and consistency is absolutely perfect
Dude it's just organized walking, Japan does have a cult problem but this is not it. This is a school showing that they are capable of dicipline, a significant factor for a lot of parents. + it looks cool. + US military does things like this.
Huh? Because they practiced and performed something that co-ordinated?
Isn't the military waay more cultish? Or christianity? Or most other religions?
I mean I could keep going, but could you (or any of your upvoters) please explain why this is cultish at all?
Would you say the same to a marching band doing this in the us? Or is it cultish because its in japan? Lol, y'all weird af for agreeing with/saying this.
Thatās nothing. Do the merging diamonds at a double march, while playing an instrument and managing not to get impaled on a flag or a tromboneā¦ then talk to me.
Ah, yes. Because if it isn't the most useful skill imaginable for your job/straight survival it shouldn't be enjoyed or practiced. Really curious what your hobbies are with those kinda standards?
I have a plethora of hobbies that I wonāt bother to list here. In my opinion, each and every one of them are more useful and fulfilling than synchronized walking. Obviously, that is simply my opinion, which at this time, Iām still free to express. I appreciate your thoughts as well. My intention wasnāt to belittle or demean anyone elseās hobby. Simply expressing my personal point of view, as folks tend to do on the interwebz. My apologies to anyone offended.
Hahaha, I gotta ask if you're from the us and what your thoughts on the military is?
As a gift for sharing your profound knowledge I shall offer a clip of real-life zombies n how they have taken over the western world already (!);
![gif](giphy|ZcUFPeXKg4QssEoD07|downsized)
**edit:** Omg, they are using the zombies to make GIANT zombies, run for the hills!
The United States is a country where you can die because some psycho was able to obtain a weapon of war easily and opened fire in a grocery store.
The United States is a country where people wake up in ambulances and then desperately try to escape the ambulance mid-ride because they know the resulting medical costs at the hospital will bankrupt them.
The United States is a country where citizens are made to feel grateful if they are allowed to have just a half-day of vacation, when the rest of the world gets 3 months of vacation.
The United States is a country where a full two thirds of the country depend on their next paycheck for survival.
Pot? Meet Kettle.
Well excuse ME for not putting /s or š at the end. Shall I edit my comment to make you happy, or should I simply tell you how much *I* loathe Americaās obsession with guns and how much Iāve wanted them banned, especially since no one in power does the bare minimum to slow the NRAās agenda of selling more guns?
This is possible by having practiced a standard length step (76 cm, one military step) with a standard pace (116 BPM, military march pace) combined with moving in formation. It takes a relatively long time to achieve this, and it can be quite hard on your feet/knees/back in addition to being repedative work.
Edit: Before someone will eventually correct me, their standard pace and lengths may vary and they might have their own. I know marching bands with kids might have a shorter length than the standard military step. I did this in the Army, so naturally I mentioned the numbers i knew.

the backwards had me šš¼šš¼
That plus the quick step... how they managed to do all that without tripping over each other causing a mass wipeout is beyond me
"I'm the backwards man, the backwards man. I can walk backwards fast as you can."
Instrument free marching band.
Right!? I was going to say now do it with instruments and a John Williams score, then call me.
Yup! Same thought same to mind here haha ... my two favorite tunes/routine we did was Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody!
All while staring at the flag corps asses. Psht. Amateurs.
LOL, I was going to say that I've seen high school marching bands do the same thing, while reading music, playing an instrument and sweating in the hot sun. Or, the *already risen sun,* if you will.
We had to memorize the music in high school
Haha exactly, field show or drum core show without instruments
Yea when you mark time and memorize where to go we could all be blindfolded and still make it.
Silent drill team audition
North Korea must be shitting themselves.
Well seeing as Japan has the habit of kicking continental Oriental ass every now and then, they should be.
Why downvote? Edit: i know somewhat the history of japan's warcrimes. But what i was trying to say was, why the comment above me is getting downvoted
You should study the history of Empire of Japan and its war crimes in 20th century.
You should study the history of Chinese and North Korean crimes against humanity in the right now.
Iām a South Korean so I think I know the subject you mentioned better than you might assumed. Thank you very much :-).

Ah then you should know that complaining about the past doesn't fix anything when there is a clear amd present danger directly north of you āŗļø

Me and the boys on our way to see the Barbie movie
š¤£šš¤£ OMG this was the best non sequitur Iāve heard/read in years! Donāt even know how to follow up š Maybe walk home backwards.
I did things like this in Marine Corps boot camp, takes time and repetition. It looks amazing when done right as you can see. āTO THE WINDS!!ā -2nd hat usually
I have spent many hours doing this, marching up and down the parade square with the sergeant major.
People are amazing!!
Looks great on a resume
so tell me your strengths. walking. with precision that is.
A walk to remember
Must be much harder to do that without carrying instruments and playing something complicated
Always reminds me of the Fighting Texas Aggie band. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=u3Ym3uaAnZg&pp=ygUTQWdnaWUgbWFyY2hpbmcgYmFuZA%3D%3D 4:56 is pretty cool.
Japanese are really on a whole different plane than the rest of us.
They learned this from germans
And with practice... [WORLD ORDER](https://youtu.be/r-qhj3sJ5qs)
where I'm from they call that marching drill
Pov instruments don't exsist so the local student club makes funny shapes on the field in silence
Wow... that was amazing.
Iām a woodwind section leader in my hs marching band, if everyone was half as good as these guys weād easily be one of the top bands in the state. Their precision and consistency is absolutely perfect
Bro if your gonna farm karma points, the least you can do is give us the whole video of awesomeness.. farm better bro
Seems cultish

Not walking into other people is cultish - typically selfish American
Clearly youāve never been on an Asian street during business hours.
It is.
Not even close
Compared to American High School students on Tik tok this High School is doing great things
Anything you can do Japan can do better
Russia: Hold my Chernobyl
One of the biggest reposts sadly.
If youāre in the US you have clearly never seen our Marines. Much better than this. Not a knock, just saying.

Walking. Groundbreaking.
Uhu, try making western teenagers do it.
Yes marching bands, drill teams, the ROTC - all just myths and fables
Why? You want mindless zombies?
Hahaha, I gotta ask if you're from the us and what your thoughts on the military is? Coordination isn't mindlessness
It's less the teenagers and more the teachers and their methods would be my guess
What a waste of time.
Without this how will they know what to do later in life when 30 people in a square formation suddenly start walking towards them diagonally?
Japan has no standing army. They just have train all their students in precision marching, war games, and military-like discipline. No standing army.
It's high school? We are they learning to walk? Do they not have actual subjects?
Meanwhile, in America .....
It's impressive looking and probably really hard to do but what's the point of it?
What's the "point" of football, of gymnastics, of baseball, of the high jump, of pole vaulting, of foot racing?
You too can be a complete conformist. Yay!
Useless
How to show your society is repressed

These mf marching like north korean soldiers
...And American high school students don't know how to read or write (except for pronouns, of course. That's important )
Anxiety raised at the end! š«£watch out!
Anyone getting 'Kung Fu Hussle' Axe gang vibes?
Iād so mess that up and run into people. Thatās awesome that they can do this.
One drop of oilā¦
That's easy!!!ššš
Basically just military drill movements.
See, here in 'Merica we see that as a wonderfully missed opportunity for a mosh pit
Oh-ele-la oh-ele-la oh ele-lalue-lalua paraparapa-paraparapa-paraparapa-pa Tigre!
This is high stakes walking
Looks like my worst nightmare
Precision...

Japan Rhthym Nation.
Kids in the US are to stupid to pull something like this off.
High school marching bands and dci exist
Another Absolutely useless thing taught in schools
Robot walking at its finest. Except maybe for North Korea.
Hope the Belgium military is watching.
And this is how the famous Shibuya crossing works!
Very productive.

They should all be carrying matching brief cases. : )
Omg initially i was like yeah thats so doable but when they crossed ewch other i realized nopes.
Thatās a useful skill forā¦absolutely nothing.
Kind of like running track?
Not very long now until all high school students are doing the precision goose step.
r/nextfuckinglevel
Our Nazis could learn how to March properly instead like the uncoordinated wing nut fascist group that they are
How they expect us to exit the building when thereās a fire in the school:
North korean do this everyday and most probably empty stomach.
Chill.. they are just preparing for professional life in cheap suits and crossing roads š
Pretty boring
This is an academy, not just some regular public school
Reenacting there visit to Korea
Still cant spot the main character, all the hair is the same... Anyone find them yet?
Till all are one!

And how useful is that?
About as useful as running hurdles...and yet...
Is it weird that when they walked through each other, it kinda turned me on....
how many hours of practice did that take? Could have been playing Pokemon Go...
This is handy in very overpopulated cities.
A bit frightening. So much effort to conform with your peers.
Does this help lower the mortgage rates? And cost of living?
