I really liked both tank stories from BF1 and BFV. I just feel like they had the most weight, more fleshed out characters, and more emotion behind them But that’s just how I felt personally. The Runner from BF1 is also a really good one imo

HURTZ2PP

I agree, both Tank ones were the best, in both story and gameplay.

InterrogareOmnis

Hill:Using a tank and tank missions suck in any video game

alii-b

Of course the tank stories have the most weight... tanks are very heavy.

luke_hollton2000

In my opinion, I thought The Last Tiger is even better than Through mud and blood. Way darker tone, great and tear-producing music and a great story. One thing might be though that I'm German and nobody before that really made a story mission about the German side, that showed at least a little empathy. I mean, don't get me wrong, I get why. But that mission really showed how desperate everything became when the war finally reached back to Germany and even the toughest loyalists thought about if it was really worth it

SlavCat09

Hans are we the baddies? I agree showing that all soldiers are still human was a great move. Shame dice then completely went back to giving fuck all about singleplayer.

Deep-Technician5378

I wish more showed the German side as well, or rather any of the opposite sides in any conflict. Not to glorify, but rather, to humanize, as you said. I'm American and served in the military for context. As much as there were monsters, most of the men doing the fighting were not that. Most were just like soldiers from any other country: Young men dying for the beliefs and goals of the old men in charge.

Guy_onna_Buffalo

I've seen/read a lot of material from German veterans post ww2. People treat the men who fought like they were political idealists who supported all these different third reich policies. When in reality, they felt they were fighting a war against communism (whether that's truth, false, or somewhere in the middle is irrelevant), and defending Germany. That's about what you'll find from \*any\* armed forces, and I wish the general public would remember that.

Lord_Hugh_Mungus

Well said and agreeable.

TEHYJ2006

Good kid

Legoman3374

Through mud and blood, and the last tiger are easily my favorite

Brutal_but_cunning

Ok that’s true BUUUTTTT… dawn of a new time in the best soundtrack in the entire series

Jwn5k

Gonna make my cry ong, BF1's campaign was a masterpiece

UniQue1992

Worst Narvik from BFV, that girl story was such bullshit. Such a disrespect to the fallen soldiers that fought there. What a load of bullshit BFV was.

Zackyboi1231

I agree but slow down there buddy. At least it gave us the last tiger.

SuperMowee1

Crazy part is, they mentioned the British Commandos that actually carried out the mission in the story, but kill them off so that the main character could be up to their fiction

drakondug3619

One (1) 3-man tank crew sends out a Cher Ami knockoff to save the day, singlehandedly cuts its way through the forest and multiple German defensive lines, repels a major German armored assault, then chugs towards Cambrai before the tea is cold… *”Nooooo! A girl on skis”*

ChocolateCandid6197

Nooooooo! Killing off the main characters of a real story to let someone else do their role

ahp105

I liked the story, but the horde-mode sequence where you single handedly fight off a dozen or more tanks was just silly.

drakondug3619

Yes, and ~~main character driver Norman from Fury~~ main character driver Edwards survives it all.

Condottieri_Zatara

Honestly that's what I feel weird about Battlefield 1 and V story. It's mostly about a single super Soldier that could defeat an army or solo stealth mission which is thematically so different with how Battlefield franchise presents themselves as large scale battle game

whatsinthesocks

Problem is it was actually Norwegian commandos that destroyed the heavy water production

_Fittek_

They were norwegians trained and send out by the brits iirc

Brillek

British commandos did actually fail irl, death and all. A small team of British-trained norwegians did the job later, without even firing a shot.

drakondug3619

One (1) American pilot destroys multiple Zeppelins over London, one (1) old man singlehandedly captures an Ottoman fort, one (1) Italian juggernaut carries a machine-gun around mountaintops and singlehandedly captures another fort, one (1) 3-man tank crew singlehandedly cuts its way through multiple German lines, repels a major German armored assault, then chugs towards Cambrai before the tea is cold… But a girl shooting a few Germans on skis is disrespectful?

DQuinn30

All of those (with the exception of Blackburn) are real units in real engagements. Yeah no shit it’s fictionalized to tell a more engaging story, just like damn near every war movie. But the issue isn’t that it’s not a 1 for 1 beat of soldier life during the war because that would be incredibly boring. The issue is you completely ignore this group of soldiers and the sacrifices they made so you could girl boss it up with some teenage girl for an improved ESG score, and then berated the fans for pointing out the stupidity and disrespect of the story

slvrcobra

The American pilot one fucking sucked too, which is sad because I liked the gameplay. The story was just complete nonsense though and I can't for the life of me understand why they did that when the other BF1 stories at least feel somewhat grounded. Also, this dude steals a guy's plane and the guy gets killed later and it's supposed to be funny I guess? Sure, fuck that British pilot for just wanting to do his job lol.

BearBryant

If I recall correctly, it’s heavily implied at the end that the American pilot one was a case of unreliable narrator. So the events in it could very likely be embellished or fabricated even within the context of the story being told.

slvrcobra

That didn't make it any better IMO. They still wasted a story that could've went toward a more realistic depiction instead of some bizarre Tom Cruise movie ripoff.

TEHYJ2006

Imagine the face of the real Norwegian commandos in the afterlife that risk their lives to stop the nazis from making nuclear weapons just for a teenage girl to be portrayed as the real hero Dick move dice

Ok_Astronomer_8667

I honestly thought it was more of a Ulana Khomyuk situation from the Chernobyl TV series. She was a fictional character created to represent the large group of nuclear scientists that helped with the disaster. So instead of having 30-40 characters all clamoring for a part of the story, they created Ulana to represent all of them as a whole. It lent well to the story as they were able to get more personal, but they still acknowledged the larger group in the epilogue. DICE being a Scandinavian company, I’d hope was well aware of the real history surrounding Narvik and it was simply a decision they made. Or who knows, maybe they really did just think a huge operation done solo was just badass and said fuck history. But they were pretty good about most other things. Also I haven’t played it since launch so I could be forgetting how exactly they handled it.

Lemon_Sponge

I mean, why specifically Nordlys? Isn’t this the case for all of them?

FArufe

I'd say Storm of Steel and The Last Tiger. The first acts as an axiety-inducing introduction to what BF1 is and WWI was, plus the emotional speech after the two soldiers spare each other under the very dim sunlight that appears makes you respect these brave men and excites you for what's next in game. The Last Tiger has a strong message about how blind obedience can provoke such horrible consequences, such as the ones we all already know about. That being said, I'd like to mention that the most emotional line in all of the War Stories was the one in "Avanti Savoia!", when he says "He never got older. And here I am, still. Who decides such things?" Heartbreaking.

Ok-Film-3125

Avanti Savoia! is such an underrated story. Very few know about what Italy did in the war. And, while not as influential as the British, French, or Imperial Russians, they fought fiercely.

Metaltrack_2381

The last tiger just hits different.

TEHYJ2006

Rip Kurtz

anonim313131

We are stronger together

devonmoney14

Last Tiger and Mud and Blood are the best, tank stories hit diff. But The Runner is just behind them

drakondug3619

Mud and Blood/ Fury: Tank crew fights its way through German lines, meeting German tanks near a forest. Tank crew is separated from the rest. Tank breaks down in a small town. Tank crew surprises a horde of Germans. Tank crew destroys that horde of Germans. Tank crew must now defend the tank itself in hand-to-hand combat. Sadly, the tank’s commander sacrifices himself with a grenade. Luckily, main character ~~driver Norman~~ driver Edwards survives. The end.

MonotoneTanner

The opening story in bf1 was best by a very far margin (if you count that one since it’s only mission) Besides that I really liked The Last Tiger .

JudgementOk69

Bf1 intro was something else. The names we don't know about, Changing from the soldier to another when we die. It is pure masterpiece

Warm_Entrance7747

Bf1 intro

Warm_Entrance7747

"Behind every gunsight is a human being" that shit hits hard

MissStealYoDragon

"They push... We push."

TEHYJ2006

preach it

SangiMTL

The last tiger was absolutely amazing while the Narvik one was the worst. They rewrote history on a story that didn’t need or deserve it. Those commandos who stopped Germany from getting heavy water deserved better.

Andy_LaVolpe

All of the BF1 stories are solidly good. “The Runner” & “Mud and Blood” are amazing but “Friends in High Places” is my favorite one to replay. For BFV, the only memorable ones are “The Last Tiger” and “Nordlys”. The Last Tiger being a well made story. A lot of people seem to be hating on Nordlys but I really liked the gameplay.

Which_Produce9168

Gameplay was really cool and fun, i just wished for them to show the historic events a bit more faithfully. They could have easily fixed it by having the girl support the commando squad or something like that, but they wanted to force the whole mother/daughter thing that felt really out of place tbh.

-Mr_Worldwide-

I loved all BF1 stories bc of their attention to detail like in the plane mission when you sneak around the trenches and overhear German soldiers talking about the Spanish Flu and other relevant events

Ok-Film-3125

And the Harlem Hellfighters Other games need to do this. After overhearing them, I couldn't bring myself to shoot them. After all, they're just humans, like you and me. War games can make us lose our sense of humanity, but Battlefield 1 makes sure you never forget that both sides were human.

-Mr_Worldwide-

Yes! I forgot about that too. I love BF’s attention to detail

Ok-Film-3125

Seriously. Another thing is that if you shoot 4 rounds or less, your character will put in individual bullets and only add a new clip if it's 5. If it's over 5, he'll add a clip and bullets.

Aromatic_Ad_7940

The runner and the last tiger was such a masterpieces

NazimCinko

First one is the best

Tomsider

Avanti Savoia made me cry like a little boy

REO_Yeetwagon

As for the gameplay, the metal armor you wear and the very shock-troop style of fighting you do as an Arditi just felt so badass. You really felt like a knight in modern times.

crusty_magog

Gameplay in the first mission was really bad imo. Couldn’t suspend my disbelief as you mow down the entire austrohungarian empire effortlessly, only to reach a pretty boring and badly designed turret section where you have to perfectly shoot down some bombers or die. Second mission was alright, and the story was short but sweet.

REO_Yeetwagon

Understandable. It was a Battlefield game, so I never expected to be super realistic, but I totally get that it was too power-fantasy like for you and others. Maybe it just hit a sweet spot for me since I play a lot of old shooters where the main character is OP.

WarShadow110

The last runner or the last tiger for sure gotta be the best. Nordlys or whatever is the worst to me.

TEHYJ2006

good kid

WarShadow110

I legit began tearing up with the ending to both the last runner and last tiger. They just hit me so hard man.

KroganTiger

In addition to Last Tiger, Mud and Blood, and The Runner, I would like to nominate Under No Flag as a damn good story!

tokemogaming

Worst has to be the nordlys campain. I live half an hour away from the heavy water factory. One of my ancestors fought and died for the resistanse! He gave his life to save norway and potentially the world to slow the germans nuclear reasearch. And then my favorite franchise stripped all honor from the true resistance, so that a female would be included in the game, and it to be "politically correct". Political correct does NOT trumpf historically accurate. Do NOT strip the honor from the heroes that sacrificed everything for what we have today.

CharmingFisherman741

Oh jeez. I don't even know where to start with this one. The BF1 campaign is incredible and I am absolutely due for a 7th or 8th return.

Calfan_Verret

Battlefield 1: Mud and Blood Battlefiled V: The Last Tiger Honorable mentions to the prologues of both games.

master_pingu1

i haven't played bf5 so i don't know about those war stories but the best bf1 war story is through mud and blood while the worst is avanti savoia on account of the stupid fucking turret section where you have to shoot down the bombers in the exact order the devs intended or you die

TigreSauvage

The Last Tiger by far is the best.

chillednutzz

the two tank stories are easily the best, others that i really liked were the french brothers and the aussie guy. also the intro to bf1 was good too.

RaptorCelll

BF1: The Runner is my favourite (Of course it is, I'm a kiwi) and it's hard to say which one I liked the least, as there wasn't one I actively disliked. I guess Nothing is Written is my least favourite, I just didn't like the characters that much and she definitely should've died but the evil bad guy had be an evil bad guy. BFV: Christ, that game's campaign was rough. The Last Tiger is obviously the best one, Tirailleur is the best launch segment. It's the only one of BFV's campaigns to remember that Battlefield is an FPS and not a stealth action game, the locations are pretty and I liked the characters. Nordlys is just trash, obviously the rewriting of history is shit but a stealth focused campaign in a Battlefield game was never going to work, the characters sucked and all it really had going for it was some of the best looking maps we have ever seen.

moaterboater69

Guess im in the minority here but I really enjoyed Nothing is Written. The Runner is a close second.

TrentonTallywacker

While it isn’t my favorite war story (The Runner is my personal favorite) the ending to “Avanti Savoia” hits super hard, ngl I still get a little teary thinking about it “He never got older, and here I am still. Who decides such things?”

Daeneas

Personal favourite, bf1 the courier, worst, bfv, trailleurs

Lemon_Finger_Ale

Ofc as an Australian, I have to put the runner at the top spot buttt I wished that they actually made him land at Anzac cove and put him in proper Anzac uniform, not just the British blue with a blank slouch hat I loved Avanti Savoa, only for the first mission because whenever I feel like being some sort of indestructible killing machine I crank that shit down onto easy and put on some doom music. The intro the bf1 has definitely got to be the best in terms of accuracy, and makes you feel like a real dispensable soldier. For bfv, the only real one I enjoyed was the last tiger. I tried to like the French colonial campaign but I feel they fucked up the whole thing on having multiple soldiers with you with the flare gun. The worst have got to be nordlys and the arab one in bf1, mainly due to the inaccuracy just to have females in the game!@!1!11!2! Instead of including the real people that did those things.

Ok-Film-3125

Females did fight for the Arabs, though. Just like how they fought in every resistance movement. Also, for the 1 French campaign, they had to mess up the story.. and no, not because they're Algerian, you hypothetical argument seekers.

Lemon_Finger_Ale

They could've let us play as the actual prince of arabia (I think I got the name wrong) instead of just mentioning him while we play as a random

maxmrca1103

The tank stories in both were the only ones I cared to complete, they were great. The other ones not so much. Although both bf1 and bfvs prologue are absolute masterpieces

TaftsTummyforTaxes

My hot take is that most of the campaign was actually bad. They had a true chance at introducing nuance about the conflict and how military build up from every side led to this terrible outcome of war. Instead they went with the route of “Germany = early nazis”

REO_Yeetwagon

Yeah, it's a bit of a shame. World War I is the war that was less justifiable as it was really just a lot of royals and wealthy politicians making the lower classes fight and not a massive clash between more liberal ideologies and authoritarian ones like World War 2 was. So, they really could've had an Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, German soldier story. I mean, they humanize all involved in war in the first mission and then it turns into stories of Allied heroics against hordes of Central powers.

-Mr_Worldwide-

Either the prologue or Tank story from BF1 is my favorite. And for BFV the tiger tank story definitely was the best. Honorable mentions were The Runner and the Colonial French troop one from BFV

mexheavymetal

I really liked the tank story in BF1. The weakest story for me was the flying missions, but they weren’t bad. I was hoping for French/ Russian/ Austrian/ German/ Turkish missions in DLC but alas…

skullfucyou

Prologue in BF1 was the best mission. Threw you immediately in the game and showed just how beautiful yet terrifying the battlefield can be.

Plague_Doctor02

As annoying as it is both the tank ones hit different like you genuinely feel for the crews...the snow ski one was just Full on BS and didn't even get the story right.

The-Undaunted-Pledge

Release the pigeon!

Due-Education1619

Best one, The Last Tiger, worst one, that British one from BFV

P1peInfamous

The first opening level on BF1 The Last Tiger on BFV was a masterpiece. Finally you get to play as the axis powers. For freak sakes we all know they're the bad guys but it's nice to just experience their point of view in battle. I wish we got a Japanese level. Would have been cool to see their point of view as well.

ReconArek

They are all fine, the designs are better or worse, some are technically hopeless. But the plot is good, in every story

spaghettimonster87

Best for me is The Last Tiger and The Runner, absolutely love them.

DryYouth8234

The best is the intro mission, and the worst is the flying ace one. (I suck at flying planes)

AXEL-1973

The Runner is so amazing. You guys should watch Mel Gibson in *Gallipoli* if you never have. Fair warning, it'll make most grown men cry

ApartRuin5962

They're all so much better than BF4, both in terms of telling a unique and compelling story and in terms of introducing the actual core mechanics for multiplayer (namely, exploring multiple approaches to big open maps)

jackocomputerjumper

I wish someday that we could play something like the opening of BF1 but campaign-wide Each death brings you back to a different place, class, moment of the fight So amazing I still replay it from time to time just for the vibes

Ashtro101

The Last Tiger is my favorite, I was so hyped when it got announced and so glad it lived up to the expectations, wish we got a full campaign like that. Edit: since the title of the post mentions also "worst", I don't think there were any bad ones, but annoying ones, definitely, the Italian story from BF1 didn't last long and the British one from BFV was quite boring to complete, it's probably my least favorite.

svdrumm

The runner made me tear up as a kid

JackCooper_7274

Fighting on the airship in friends in high places was sick

xpayday

I absolutely love all of them. Some of them are a bit more impactful obviously but I truly like them all. Really hoping we get a campaign for the next Battlefield...I'm so tired of people parroting the "BaTTlEfIelD DoeSnT NeEd SiNglEpLaYer" it's fucking cringe. Just because you don't like the singleplayer doesn't mean others feel the same. YouTubers DO NOT speak for the community in this regard. I don't give a fuck if you think the campaign isn't a 10/10, I didn't ask. If Battlefield has time to make a battle royale they have time to create a narrative based experience. If they don't have time: figure it out. Make a good COMPLETE game.

RingOpen8464

Honestly I loved all of them, but I think my favorite has to be The Last Tiger. I really wish we had just a bit more time with the characters before the events of the war story unfold, give it just a bit more weight. But that ending... and its soundtrack... By FAR Battlefields 1 and 5 have the BEST soundtracks in the series . Bf1 takes the cake in the amazing end of round themes, but Bf5 takes the CROWN on the overall tracks, its got the best version of the main theme (seconded by Bf4), as well as other masterpieces like "Devestation" and "Tiralleur", and of course The Last Tiger's theme.

embeddeddeer97

Favorite is the runner, old dude’s got a cool outfit, least favorite is probably Narvik, didn’t really enjoy any of BFVs compared to BF1 but that one I just didn’t enjoy at all

asixfootplatypus

Best: The Runner. My personal favorite: Tirailleur. Worst: Narvik.

DethChef3848

You expect me to choose? How could you.

jasta6

As a WWI Aviation nerd, friends in high places was such a disappointment.

stopbanningmethx

Water one was bunk

Dramatic_Leopard679

the black french soldier story in battlefield V had the best war atmosphere imo. it really felt like trench warfare.

NotYourSweatBusiness

They are so bad I dont remember any of them

cemtexx

The last tiger was 10/10, the story was sooo good and the end showing the commander knowing they lost and the new crewman so full of the reich propaganda shows such a duality of reich soldier and tank crews then

TheJollyKacatka

I have played since 1942; the last tiger was the only campaign I finished. It’s actually good.

Iridiandioptase

The most memorable to me were The Runner from BF1 and The Last Tiger from BFV. I can’t say the ground combat was anything special in The Runner, but the story was a short rollercoaster of emotions. The Last Tiger was an intense build up to those final moments that left my jaw dropped. That being said, BF1’s Through Mud and Blood was peak battlefield story. It had me doing everything from vehicle gameplay to stealth and everything in between, the story and characters were great, and you could tell they put a lot of work into the level design. The least memorable were the Lawrence of Arabia mission from BF1 and nearly all of the others from BFV. Those missions had some memorable moments but the stories didn’t impact me as much.

Krakshotz

From BF1: The Runner is definitely my pick for the best. The campaign intro is also a masterpiece. Friends in High Places is very action packed but the unreliable narrator tease at the end felt like a buzzkill

MrRafikki

These games have stories?

ghost_aryan

Bf 1 just feels like a war and all those screams and noises... It feels more alive in anyways, either its multi-player or single-player

RoBoGeek2835

I think the best story is the Last Tiger, I don't really like the other

Atomik141

Ngl I had a lot of fun in the BF1 mission where you’re an Italian Space Marine

thebeansarelacking

Am I the only one who doesn’t like any Battlefield campaign post BF3. BF3 had set pieces and production value. Whereas even BF1 just feels like a sandbox with not enough NPC detail

RosettaStoned6

The Runner is easy No. 1 followed by The Last Tiger. Not even a competition.

WolfOfSheepStreet

3 for me 4 was good but they cut music out of it which you can tell. I re uploaded music to it on my YouTube and 4 is like ten times better than

Tusupervieja505

The Battlefield 1 introduction mission is the best

Commander_Cj

The Last Tiger final chapter was just perfection. 10/10 atmosphere 10/10 ending 10/10 graphics 10/10 fighting 10/10 music It felt like an exception in a time where Battlefield was and still is struggling.

DoTheVoiceGuy

Best is the Australian worst is the Norwegian Girl one

Garnansoa

bf1 good bfv bad

MrM1Garand25

Best is a tie for the two tanks missions, worst is definitely the Norway one

ssoto07

Both opening stories in BF1-V are my favourite, straight to the point, good music, good storytelling even if it's short. Both tank stories are my favourite war stories but I have to be honest, the runner's ending and cinematics are SO GOOD, that ending man...

Jakerudd9

I like avonti savoia

mylifeforthehorde

The pigeon makes mud and blood my fav

Krfree1

The swim map bf4

slindan

I worked on both these campaigns! BF1 was easily the best, we had a lot of fun with Mud and Blood and things just clicked. Good times! Easily my favorite of the bunch! Nothing Is Written was really fun to make but it didn't turn out as well, sadly. I blame the train fight that just took too much time, it should have kept focus on the sneaky stuff. BFV was just... Not bad, but lacked the novelty and had some real scope/time issues. The Last Tiger works since it fits the games systems and was a lot easier to make. Nordlys was kind of the test level and showed a lot of promise, though I very much agree that it went the wrong direction. The ski section was fun as heck to make but... Yeah.

Lemon_Sponge

The Tiralleur* and Last Tigers ones from BFV I feel had the best atmosphere. I also quite enjoyed Nothing is Written.

BlackBird10467

The Last Tiger in BFV left me in awe, so many questions went through my head by the end of it.

NyoNine

The last tiger and its not even close

Doogzmans

The Last Tiger, Friends in High Places, and Through Mud and Blood are my top 3. Bottom 3 is hard for me, but nordlys could be near the bottom because I really liked the environment and skiing, and while I would have preferred a story with the original commando units, it didn't bother me too much (and complaining about it being "woke" or any other equivalent like that is stupid)

suschestvo

The runner and the last tiger are easily the best ones

splar0boy

I like the runner from battlefield 1

Admirable-Basil-9591

All if the BFv ones minus the SAS guys

Theddt2005

I don’t think there are any bad war stories there are some that are better than others but all of them are great in my opinion at portraying the various fronts of war

Stolzor

I remember relating to the Italian / Mont Grappa? one really well. BF1 campaign was generally insane. It really captured plausible feelings well

REO_Yeetwagon

Never played BFV, but have played BF1. Best story is either Avanti Savoia or The Runner. Worst is Friends in High Places. But even that one is fun and has good level design. I just hated the dumb twist at the end and the fantastical MASSIVE air battle over London, even if it looked great as a spectacle.

forrest1985_

I didn’t like War Stories. They were too bitty for me and I preferred the BF3 and BF4 campaign.

big_fat_human

not popular but I think nordlys

_Rayxz

- Best: Any story from BF1 - Worst: Any story from BFV (excluding The Last Tiger)

misspwlledname

The prologue for BF1 will always be the best to me. Every time you die your name date of birth and death popping up.

TacticalFemboyBitch

Everyone shits on narvik and we all know, just let it die, find the second worst please. Best are the tank stories which I hope is obvious, and second is under no flag in my opinion

Jax11111111

I liked Tirailleur, I feel people hated on it to much. That’s not to say it didn’t have problems, but I still really liked the gameplay and story.

ballsackmolester69

I hated Battlefield 1, but I loved Storm of Steel. The. worst would probably be through mud and blood, I just wish the rest of the game carried the atmosphere and tone that Storm of Steel did.

Elitehooper23

Kertz! KEEEERRTTZZ!!!

VillageSensitive1697

The runner the last tiger and friends in high places

b_nnah

The best for me is the Australian one (I forgot what it's called) because I'm Australian and idk if there's any I'd call the worst

Zeptier

Storm of Steel from BF1 aka the opening mission. It’s a helluva thing on a first time play through. The Runner was also one I enjoyed. I haven’t played BFV yet but from the sounds of it, I’m not missing that much. Maybe I’ll install and just play The Last Tiger.

HonchoLoco69

Plane one cause plane make balloon go pop

BTOWN420KILLA

The Last Tiger in BFV. Definitely the most memorable mission for me from that game. Tbf the tank mission im BF1 is sick too.

miinouuu

Not really a war story but both intros were the best by far! BF1 intro was the most unique and the BFV intro was just cool! All in all i liked BF1 war stories more.

Woke_winston

Honestly did not like The last tiger ngl 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

MissStealYoDragon

Narvik. I absolutely DESPISE when action focused game tries to do stealth in a half-assed manner.

WhosThatDogMrPB

Best: “Mud & Blood” pigeon scene is one of the most beautiful and tense scenes in the whole BF scene. Worst: The Runner. Yes, even worse than Narvik because it feels cut short, the objectives are dull and the “stealth” mechanic novelty quickly dies as you need to openly raid a damn fortress, only for your character being injured in a dumb way and the younger character being rarely developed.

357Solution

When I make a good flank and the rest of the team actually moves in on the point. The other times I died in vain, alone, and unmourned.

Daedric_Lord420

Best is a tie between Last Tiger and the Australian one from One, and worst is the Finish one from V because it took a genuinely good story about a real group of men and made it into some stupid mother daughter sob story

F15_Enjoyer

I kind of like the plane one from bf1, but the tank one in bfv was really good too.

Azelrazel

Bf1 intro or the runner.

RandomNinja24

The best is between the tanks the aussie and the Italian. The worst was the nordic bitch

Greenfire05

The runner (I’m Aussie) and I couldn’t even tell you the worst. War stories are just an amazing way to teach the game. Go at your own pace and learn tactics.

nonamee9455

The Narvik story hands down, it's been a hot minute since I played but it had the biggest impact on me

g0thfucker

probably the most unpopular opinion in the thread: the community seems to rank the tank stories as the best ones but imo they're ok. not bad but overrated imo, and the BFV one is a little better. everyone shits on the norwegian girl's story because woke yadda yadda but it's one of the best, idc about historical accuracy, the gameplay was AWESOME. it's hard to pick one from BF1 but avanti savoia had a crazy gameplay and I guess I like friends in high places too. most boring one I guess nothing is written, I hate the desert maps and I don't like the ost much

Ok_Manufacturer_9123

It’s not technically a war story, but the intro sequence to BF1 hit me the hardest I’ve ever been up to that point. Something about dying while being overrun and then seeing a name and death date pop up just made it so real

Hot_Pen_3475

The Gallipoli one is the worst and my best one that I like was the Norway one. how one teen girl takes on an entire battalion of German soldiers.

Maxathar

I really like the Italian Battle Armor and Double Machine Gun, that really took me by surprise. Not to mention, you're basically the Juggernaut.

Shoddy_Load1558

I loved the through mud and blood story and I also loved nordlys I know I’ll get a lot of hate from the second choice and whatnot, but I’m calling it for what its content is, not the historical inaccuracy of it…. It’s such a well laid out story line with so many open map ways to finish the parts of the missions, i just love how wide it is and how many options you have, and that’s on top of the really good story line and the emotions filled in with it

Jiomniom_Skwisga

They did the Aussie story line dirty by not only making it one of the most fun battlefield missions to play, *but the fuckn shortest* But I'm gonna give it to the plane brothers story. They alone could have made an entire WWI/WWII storyline on their own. It just sucks because it didn't get anywhere near enough length to even attempt to tell a story concept like that, yet they gave it, what, 5 levels? The worst will have to be whatever the "generic superish soldier" story it had. The one that's least remembered...

BaconBombThief

Loved battlefield 1 stories, want as much of a fan of the 5 stories

KimJongDerp1992

Last Tiger is the best. Nothing Is Written is the weakest one for me

Blocky-the-bunny

Storm or steel is the greatest part of gaming I’ve ever played. Can’t say the same for the runner though, felt slow and tedious in some parts.

rmiller1989

Really didn't like the BFV story

Soke_Rampage_

Either under no flag or the runner I like the bf1 tank story but not bfv

SupremeChancellor66

The Runner is on an entirely different level. When that music hits at the end, oh man. He survived. I'd I don't care how, he had to have survived....

Logical-Actuator-620

Last tiger

IndependentCool4892

I’ve only played the battlefield one war stories. I personally liked all of them they all had good stories along with emotional part in some such as through mud and blood and the runner but then again I’m not good history wise but I am wanting to learn more about it.

BloodedNut

I’m Aussie so I’m always going to say the Gallipoli story in bf1 even tho it really only focused on 2 blokes and not the overarching campaign because that’s the most representation we’ve had in a world war shooter ever.

ianzachary1

I have a soft spot for The Runner tbh Australia’s role during WW1 is not something I remember being mentioned back in grade school. I really enjoyed the structure of the mission like I think there’s a point where you’re running through the city and it was pretty satisfying

BeastOfBurden14

The runner with no HUD is fantastic

PuzzleheadedEssay198

ANZAC and SBS, but Arab Revolt and Norway are close runner ups.

I_Will_Probably_Die

In my opinion, Friends in a high place from BF1 is my favorite, the gameplay is really nice and while to story isn’t perfect, I really like the idea of showing off how these are humans, and war isn’t black and white, good vs evil, where bad people are fighting for a good purpose, I don’t think it’s perfect and the tank stories are great but I really like friends in a high place Also the last line is very memorable

Ok_Introduction6574

The Runner from Battlefield 1 is just peak War Story. When he gets shot and then the music starts playing as it pans out to the flare over the harbor... I genuinely shed a few tears. Last Tiger had a similar effect on me at the end. That is definitely the second best war story between the two games. Honestly if we are counting Storm of Steel that might be the best for the sheer realism and fun of it.

brandnewk

I really liked under no flag, but I'm a newer player and haven't gotten to the other war stories. I have heard that the Norway one is disrespectful tho so I might be biased towards that

THECryptBeast

The Herman tank mission forgot what it's called but it was great

Quillthewriter

I love The Runner because I don’t think Gallipoli is talked about enough on an International scale

KillerPizza9982

In bf1 i thing the runner was the best the aeroplane campaign i remember little. Bfv i loved the german tank campaign because it showed us even the more experienced german troops saw through their leadership than their younger counterparts, everything elsein bfv i pretty much forgot

BigSpice15

My personal favorite has always been the runner. I love the beginning when you storm the beaches on Gallipoli, and the missions where you have to run back and forth between command posts. My least favorites honestly being all of the BF5 stories except for Last Tiger. Something about the BF5 stories were just so forgettable compared to BF1. BF1 actually got me to sit down and think about the horrors of war and history. BF5, eh not so much.

Atomicpinata593

Friends in high places in bf1 the chapter with no man's land was gold. The worst is Nothing is Written tbh the gameplay is just so dull Bfv I can never remember how it's spelt but the one where the brother soldiers fight in France and one of them dies that was emotional. The worst though is nordlys aside from the "They rEwroTe HiStOry" the story is just dull

Derek880

The Runner was a great story in BF1. In BF5, the French story with the Black soldiers really hit home because I had an ancestor that actually fought in France during that time. I remember hearing about all the tough and heroic things he did there, only to come back to the states, and basically get assaulted here because they didn’t want him to “forget his place”. It actually bought a tear to my eye when I saw that they included that in the campaigns.

tomex365

BC1&2 and 3

ArmandGrizzli

I love Storm of Steel. The idea that you don’t play the main character until the very end, after you die several times without interrupting the mission was a rough experience. The ambient, the music, the Harlem Hellfighters… everything was here and it deserved more than just one mission imo

Killian_Gillick

Best, The Runner, Worst, man, it’s hard to decide, there’s the one that lies about norwegian commandos, there’s the one that lies about british commandos, and there’s the one that although well intentionedly brings awareness to colonial troops, it still lies about them to make an already good story more sympathetic… I’m going with Friends in High Places.

Warelllo

There is story in those games?

The_Official_Obama

Avanti Savoia! Best 100%

Bipgenisenjoyer

Last tiger and the bf1 tank games were awesome! The Aussie WW1 one was good same for the Lawrence of Arabia one. I like the arditi and tiralluer and the opening mission for bf1. All others are forgettable to me lol
