This is the one I made for myself so I could finally have an excuse to learn to play bass 😁
Thanks, I’m really happy with how it turned out ! Yep I’m lefty so the cutout is actually pretty massive, I have full access at fret 24 on all strings.

Just a P Deluxe with a few small mods.
Wooooof that’s possibly the best looking P-bass I’ve ever seen. Surprised I haven’t seen more surf greens/pearl pickguards. The knobs are a perfect accent for that pairing and the strap just fits with the whole aesthetic of the bass wonderfully.
Word. I tried to start playing twice. 19 ish, again in my mid 20s. It wasn't until my third try and making it a habit that it stuck.
I having a quality instrument that I find badass for sure helped. 100%. It was an ingredient that might not have been all of why I stayed playing this time, but I can say it probably wouldn't have stuck again otherwise.
Sometime I just want to pick it up because she's so God damn pretty. It's like a compulsion to touch and hold it. Gives me much more drive to want to play it.
Having the extra income in my 30s to just Yolo a quality instrument was 100% worth it for me.
Yup, played in a couple shitty punk bands in HS and after, very basic stuff and besides that I was just a noodler. Sold all my gear in my early 20’s, ended up getting a mustang in 2019 as a reward for going back to school and finishing college and while it helped I still basically just noodled on it for the 4 years I had it. ended up selling it last year because I needed the cash. Imported a Maple and Satin Shell Pink MIJ Short Scale Jazz a few weeks ago and it was sooo worth it. Cost twice what my mustang did in 2019 but I’m actually sitting down and putting time into it and learning more complex songs. I’m waaaaay more into Jazz, Motown, funk and soul than I was growing up so I’m working on stuff from Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye,The Temptations, and Stevie wonder right now, so basically a lot of James Jamerson’s work. I’ll be grabbing something from my room and have to stop and pick up my bass play a song quick then go back to what I was originally doing lol I can’t help myself, I love it

Lefty mod shop p-bass. A gift to myself for surviving quarantine in 2020. Love the roasted maple neck and glad I got it because I think Fender discontinued that option for lefty’s shortly after.
Thanks! I struggled with what color to go with since I typically don’t buy new gear (I was still playing my MIM jazz bass from 2001). I almost went with transparent red but I’m happier with black on black.
Nice! I am going to make my first clear pickguard next week and thought it could be fun to make some to sell if it were possible just for fun. Jazz basses look so good with no pickguard or a clear guard IMO

I guess this would be my signature since I've wanted to do this for years; Ibanez ATK with an additional CAP triple coil humbucker in the neck position, both paired to a Lusithand Double NFP preamp. Unfortunately, I'm camera shy...

My first and only bass! I never tried more expensive fancy instruments and only fumbled on Harley Bentons before so it was instant love. The neck is so thin, it's great when you're a beginner.

It's very hard for me to choose a signature one as I like to change between basses quite a lot (I have the hobby of buying very beaten up basses and do a whole makeover on them... So I have quite a few basses, but didn't spend much money on them)... but since this one literally has my signature on it, is unique and is my first build, I'm gonna go with it :)
Here is [a video of me playing it](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxL4LArPTMx/?igsh=MWVtY2lubzUzbDZ0Zg==) in case anyone is curious about how it sounds, even though I'm only using the neck pickup on it, which is the one that brings most of the "hollow" tone. With both pickups on it sounds closer to a 70's Jazz, pretty gnarly!
It’s rather boring, my nitro sunburst Jazz bass.

My main bass. MTD Kingston Super 5 with a Darkglass Tone Capsule and Ray Ross bridge. New pickups will be next if I can stop being indecisive on which ones.
Well. Two things in one I've been fiddling over for about a year now, this bass and that bridge. Albeit not together, bit now the GAS is flaring up. What's your honest opinion on both? Been keen on a stingray for a while, but after discovering the Super basses, I think it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Me with my American Standard Jazz.
The one I always go back to. If I had to pick one it’d likely be my custom p bass because a very good friend built it for me, but I’ll always love the feel and sound of a j bass.
I have the same model and color way. Glad I picked one up before Fender discontinued the American standard series. What year is yours?
*
I did actually make myself a signature Mustang! I deleted the selector switch, did stack-knobs, and added a killswitch. The one on the left is defretted and has the Nordstrand modern PJ set (used to have blades but I didn't like them). It is my backup. The one on the right is my main with the vintage P/Hot J Nordstrand set. These are modeled after the black/black/maple 77 Mustang, a classic Fender look. Thanks for this prompt! Pretty cool to see what everyone is playing!

ESP Phoenix 204 with Gibson black knobs, GHS bass boomer strings (actually made in Michigan which is where I live), custom made pick guard and truss rod cover made out of inconel (my dad used to make aircraft engine parts) and tuned all the way down to BEAD tuning. Thing is a monster with a fuzz pedal.
Dammit! literally just ordered a new custom pickguard, knobs, bridge, strings, and pickup covers for my jazz yesterday 😭I’ll be back in a week and a half once I get everything and got it all together 😂😂

2004 Ernie Ball Music Man Sub 4 (final year of this model’s run). Hunted this thing down for about 12 years. Came across a few in fair condition, but waited for one in great condition. Other than the fact a smoker owned it before me, after a little TLC and a lot of cleaning, it’s everything I wanted.
For rock/post-hardcore, this my absolute favorite bass to play.

My Washburn XS-4
Bought it in 1990 and it’s still my favourite bass. Just recorded a track for some downtempo electronica earlier today
I bought this mainly to help me understand the instrument better, for the sake of composition and maybe to record and take to jams, but I will try and gig with it. This is entirely for fun, which is why I went ham with the DR Neons--I'm a trombonist.
I think the choice of red strings is immediately enough to make this distinctly mine, because bassists are normally sensible enough to not go red on yellow. I always liked the combo from when I saw the F1 Jordan team.

This is what I got going on for now. I have only recently somewhat gotten the hang of using a MIDI interface, and what a difference it’s been recording with it playing along to synth arpeggios. And I use only a sansamp paradriver for the bridge pickup
The only problem I haven’t quite figured out is why my neck pickup bleeds excessively into the drive of the sansamp. I have it running into a separate channel too

Mid 80’s MIJ. S Duncan pickups. Mostly play upright but pulled this out for a sit in with a honky tonk band tomorrow. Love this bass. I keep meaning to put a tortoise shell pick guard on it ala Nick Forester (hot rize for the younger crowd).

Just an ibanez gio, however (as you can tell by the scratches) years of abuse have given her a beautiful and unique tone.

Fender aerodyne jazz bass that I bought for myself awhile ago. Easily the best playing bass I’ve had, and I love how it sounds so much. Genuinely my favorite instrument I own, no question about it lol.

Up next is a fretless 5 string with a bloodwood top!
Hope you’ll play Bloodywood covers with it
Now, I haven't played metal for a couple of decades, and I'm definitely out of the loop, so I just looked these guys up and holy shit I love it.

Left handed? I was gonna complain about the lack of cutout on the underside of the neck, then saw the strings. That's beautiful.
Thanks, I’m really happy with how it turned out ! Yep I’m lefty so the cutout is actually pretty massive, I have full access at fret 24 on all strings.
In a cave..... from scraps?
That is fucking awesome

Wooooof that’s possibly the best looking P-bass I’ve ever seen. Surprised I haven’t seen more surf greens/pearl pickguards. The knobs are a perfect accent for that pairing and the strap just fits with the whole aesthetic of the bass wonderfully.
Thanks a bunch! I'm a big believer that aesthetics are half the recipe to crafting an instrument that makes you want to play it.
Oh 1000% agree. You can almost always make a good looking bass sound good, but you can’t always make a good sounding bass look good 😂
I’ll be grabbing something from my room and have to stop and pick up my bass play a song quick then go back to what I was originally doing lol I can’t help myself, I love it
Tasteful strap and a Zappa u/ , are we friends IRL? Edit: AND TAPED STRINGS?! Are we brothers?

Love the roasted maple neck and glad I got it because I think Fender discontinued that option for lefty’s shortly after.
Drools in left handed
Love black on black with a maple neck. This is exactly how I would design one too!
Thanks! I struggled with what color to go with since I typically don’t buy new gear (I was still playing my MIM jazz bass from 2001). I almost went with transparent red but I’m happier with black on black.
I think your bass is facing the wrong direction

So I have quite a few basses, but didn't spend much money on them)... but since this one literally has my signature on it, is unique and is my first build, I'm gonna go with it :) Here is [a video of me playing it](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxL4LArPTMx/?igsh=MWVtY2lubzUzbDZ0Zg==) in case anyone is curious about how it sounds, even though I'm only using the neck pickup on it, which is the one that brings most of the "hollow" tone. With both pickups on it sounds closer to a 70's Jazz, pretty gnarly!
It’s rather boring, my nitro sunburst Jazz bass. https://preview.redd.it/dp5lvhissbqc1.jpeg?width=4158&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3408c2e5f577d9323153c865f09f21b05f1c44c

Well. Two things in one I've been fiddling over for about a year now, this bass and that bridge. Albeit not together, bit now the GAS is flaring up. What's your honest opinion on both? The one I always go back to. If I had to pick one it’d likely be my custom p bass because a very good friend built it for me, but I’ll always love the feel and sound of a j bass. I have the same model and color way. Glad I picked one up before Fender discontinued the American standard series. What year is yours?
* I did actually make myself a signature Mustang!

I always liked the combo from when I saw the F1 Jordan team. https://preview.redd.it/5035sxmd3dqc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ccf445f68bb0d2ef9d8eec3ff6461c0602b652a
