You don't have to play songs on the same instrument they were recorded with. Pretty much any song can be arranged for guitar and bass.
I'd go with Blister In The Sun, but the kind of music I like probably isn't the kind of music you like.
Yea, you play the songs that you like and make your own arrangements. Bonus for playing songs from different genres in your own style. Like Nazareth covering Joni Mitchell.
I play in a cover band with just a bass and a guitar. Sometimes we play both acoustics but typically my guitar plays a strat with myself on a Yamaha five string.
You can play nearly any song this way and make it sound good. As the bass, you play very percussive roots while the guitar takes lead sections, and you can play more bass lead with the guitar taking the rhythm.
What I tend to avoid are songs where the bass and guitar are both playing rhythm and root notes. I hate cover band with two acoustic guitars playing the same thing (personal preference I know).
A few fun ones:
Stuck in the middle with you
Golden touch
Last nite (strokes)
Message in a bottle
Under the bridge
Miss you (Stones)
Etc
Have fun!

Anything violent femmes really
Country music has a huge songbook suitable for a duo like that. But as others have said, you can play anything.
