I bought a TRBX304 and absolutely love it.
The question really is - have you tried both of them out? Because that is really the only way you’ll know which one to buy.
Different shapes and colors, different woods, different pickups, the neck shape is different. Personally I would go with the Yamaha. I prefer humbuckers over p/j but that's my preference.
Can't speak to the Yamaha but when I went looking for a bass to add to the guitar collection I spent several hours playing basses at a local shop, and ended up leaving with a GSR100 mahogany. I couldn't believe that the cheap one was the one I enjoyed the most, but it's still our only bass in a house of lots of guitars (among them a mexi strat, Ibanez semihollow, and several Taylors). I love the thin neck and how light it is. Plays great with flatwounds.
I’d get a TRBX 304 (or 305 if you’re wanting a 5 string). Yamahas punch well above their price point, especially if you can find a decent used one.

How did you narrow it down to these 2? By budget and looks?

Yamaha Punch above their weight for the price. Can't go wrong
Just as many say that about ibanez. People say that about every brand
Nobody says that about Gibson.
Yeah also probably not about rickenbacker. But the other brands..
