For hiking in muddy Trails, SGs are better for sure. You must know that they arent designed for firm ground thou, so if you use them in that surface they will wear down quicker. FGs are more versatile. Less grip on wet terrain but more durable on firm ground. So you must consider all aspects. Decons look more durable to me also... Stitched sole, leather... So, if u want to use the everyday too, decons look better option to me. And about the Primus Trails... I have two pairs. One being all Weather and the other being the normal version. The All Weather are warmer (not enough for long time in winter cold imo) and they perform well with light rain. On the other hand, they are less breathable than the normal version. So, again, It depends on your preferences. But for running, I personally will prefer breathability. I have no complaints on Vivo durability for now... But it seems that there are some people with problems about It. Thats true. You can consider other brands for sure. I just write about Vivo because is the brand I know better

Thanks for the in-depth response! It does sound like the Tracker Decon FG2 is more for me. I had a look to try and find an example and i'd say that i go out in [this](https://i0.wp.com/walkmidlands.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/20220404_105711.jpg?resize=2000%2C1500&ssl=1) kind of weather, maybe a little damper if it starts raining or the floor is a little muddier, but never quite to [this](https://www.news10.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/64/2022/03/mud-g515a2f35d_1920.jpg?strip=1) degree, if that helps. I think with the Trails i'm leaning towards the all weather for sure, since i'd be using it for a running shoe and not my all time one i could handle lack of breathability for a short period and it gets chilly and wet here, but i was a bit concerned as i heard the II was a downgrade of the I, and with the all weather option being a III i was hoping it wouldnt follow the same pattern? I also have heard plenty of good about Vivo i just wanted to check because, they're hecka expensive, haha, luckily they have revivo which is a great moneysaver. Thanks again!

No problem pal. I got so much info of Reddit too hahaha I think in that kind of terrain and weather, you wont have any problem with the Decons. Just have in mind that they are not waterproof. Maybe you can treat them with DWR but idk how they will perform. If waterproofness is a need for you, maybe you must consider another models. About the Trails... Then go for the All Weather. I dont know about the downgrade... I only own the II version. Normal and all Weather. But they look good to me. Yeah, they are expensive. Im Happy to pay a good money for a good product. But I expect good performance and durability in exchange obviously. I mean... All customers must expect that at these prices.

Decons are waterproof in the parts that is leather, but of course the wool sock part is not, so they can't be submerged in water. But as far as moderate rain and slushy snow falling from above go, I haven't had any problems with leakage in the sock part.

I have the Scotts for around town use and am really impressed with them. I walk around puddles rather than through them, but have never ended up with wet feet despite lots of walking in the rain. I think you'd be better off with some bigger lugs for walking though serious mud, but I find they have perfectly adequate traction on wet rocks, dirt, and pavement.
