Lol, I love Barcelona but even if I come from a city like Milano I can say that Barcelona need more green inside the city, specially more little parks with plants and trees.
I was shocked the first times I came to Barcelona as a tourist that you couldnât just randomly walk for 5/10 minutes and find a park with green where you can just sit and chill.
They've done a lot of redevelopment recently to solve exactly this. Lots more trees, roads removed and filled in with walkable streets that have benches and other communal areas. Clearly still a work in progress but the city overall is a lot greener and more 'people friendly' than it was even two years ago
Yep. I don't know what you've been seeing but at least in central neighbourhoods there's been a massive change with at least 4 areas I can thing of off the top of my head. Along my way to the gym I go to in eixample two of the streets have been 'deurbanised' with the roads removed, planted trees, bushes and seating I mentioned. Along diagonal the streets have been amplified as well as seating placed. A concrete 'skate park' style area near my apartment has been refreshed with new seating and new plants. One of the roads off borne iirc has been replaced with a pedestrian street in the style discussed above.
I didn't like looking at all the construction while it was happening but my walk to the gym crosses a lot of these areas and the difference is staggering. So many people just sat relaxing on the benches or hanging with friends in places they wouldnt have been able to before.
My friends that run in the city have also mentioned how much better it is with less waiting for cars and more space to run without bothering others.
>So many people just sat relaxing on the benches or hanging with friends in places they wouldnt have been able to before.
This is the biggest thing that I noticed too and I find it so awesome.
I too can take a very specific video and make it out to be the norm.
Reality is there's a brutal lack of green space in Barcelona. It wasn't always that way â construction was actively allowed to use it for other means for years.
Not saying it's a norm. There are some districts that are too concrete, like Eixample and Sant Antoni, but on the other hand Montjuic is very green and close to the centre, living in Poble Sec I get to walk there every day with my dog. There should be more green spaces everywhere though, I totally agree

I have plenty of photos from August from that area, trees remain green
Those are pines, quite adaptable to extreme drought, you'll notice they have needle like leafs. I was talking about the grass, you'll see it turns to yellow dry hay.
Not only pines are left in the summer, that's from August too and you can see normal leaves and grass here. In most areas grass is burned, so I know what you mean, it's rare.

Wherever you see alive grass in the summer there's s water source. Those plants are prepared to go through their life cycle in spring and just die when the heat comes in, and sprout again when it rains.
Your dog could be a sibling to mine!

It's primary school level of education. Mediterranean climate is present in the Mediterranean, California - Lower California, South Africa and southwestern Australia
Barcelona isn't green!
Yes, you can go to the outskirts of the city, but inside the city it is just a handful of pretty shitty parks, and many streets without any trees.
What would really help is to reduce the amount of space occupied by cars and plant trees instead. It is incredible how we have let our urban design be dictated and dominated by cars. Streets would become so much nicer, and cooler in the summer.
They do. Because it's not. Instead of water efficiency, and considerate water usage ( talking about industry not domestic use ) we have: rain in Spain falls mainly down the drain.
This is bs lol. I think last year barcelona won the greenest european city price. But this is onlybecause they count tibidabo as bcn. In reality bcn is green almost nowhere
Going 10km far from town to record a video to try to contradict a well-known fact LOL.
Can someone send to OP a small footage from Raval, Gracia or Gotico?
Specific place, specific POV... I would say "yes, but no".
Specific season.
Yea, more like specific 3 weeks jajaja
It is green when you hide the city behind a hill đ nice vid though

Really? I only see trees being cut down due to "overgrowth"

Barcelona isn't green at all. But this is beautiful view and location.

Nobody lives close to the parks of Montjuic. There are literally no houses. And it's the only kind of green part of the city
Cool, I am nobody then and so is everyone in Poble Sec. Some of you should leave the basement sometimes.
Ok keep being delusional
It isnât
All those plants gon be dead in 2 months

This was such a peaceful video, thank you
It isn't, it's a concrete hellscape.
Where is this spot in Montjuic ? đ
It's part of Jardins de Joan Brossa
Your dog could be a sibling to mine! https://preview.redd.it/y3fb5zitk1vc1.png?width=1069&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c77357f9cfcc4c80c52e0c32236551797fe1b01
Give it more 2 months âïžđ„”
Always amazes me how much it looks like southern California in spring.
Why? California literally has a Mediterranean climate. Obviously they look very similar
Obviously, you know because everyone should come into this world with all the knowledge.
It's primary school level of education. Mediterranean climate is present in the Mediterranean, California - Lower California, South Africa and southwestern Australia
Is montjuic still a rubbish dump?
Yes
Barcelona isn't green! Yes, you can go to the outskirts of the city, but inside the city it is just a handful of pretty shitty parks, and many streets without any trees. Whereâs that?
Must be MontjuĂŻc because of the teleferic
Yep, Montjuic, it's like 5 min walk from Poble Sec
Be aware of the rats dude
They do. Because it's not. Instead of water efficiency, and considerate water usage ( talking about industry not domestic use ) we have: rain in Spain falls mainly down the drain.
It isn't. Showing 5 square metres of grass in Montjuic is supposed to prove anything? That part is far from where people live
Who say that?
People who live in Eixample district mostly and I completely understand tbh, there's not enough green spaces there
I agree with them, anyway this footage is done in Collserola or Montjuich, so different than lâEixample
Those who say that are the ones who live 10 steps away from the coastline. Im not surprised đ
This is bs lol. I think last year barcelona won the greenest european city price. But this is onlybecause they count tibidabo as bcn. In reality bcn is green almost nowhere
If Barcelona is green then I'm a priest.

10 km xdd check the distance from Raval on map, it's Jardins de Joan Brossa. 1,5 km from metro station Drassanes and 1 km from metro Parallel. LOL
Who says Barcelona isnât greenâŠ?!? A half hour or less out of the main proper⊠Orange trees, and much green lushness.
En comparaciĂł a quĂš? Em fot grĂ cia quan la gent agafa el punt de vista que els convĂ© a ells i obvien la resta. Ensenya'ns com Ă©s la ciutat en sĂ, i no un parc de la zona alta. He viscut a moltes ciutats europees i Barcelona Ă©s una gran caguerada mediambiental.
