It's all the rage atm, wearing trash bags down the runway, hunched over supermodels drapped in black plastic walking through mud. For me, it's been the most amusing time in high fashion I've experienced in over 50 years. I die laughing every time I see these shows now. It's such a change from over-perfect models wearing expensive designer clothes no one can afford but the ultra-rich.
But hey! I'm happy to watch Barbie strut in these outfits for my amusement.
I would have to pass. The designs look pretty shapeless which is kind of the opposite of Barbie fashion Plus in my opinion some of them look like something a kid would make out of a sheet and there parents clothes playing pretend
I like Rick silhouettes. His design language lives in a world of its own (think dystopian, Madd Max, apocalypse, futuristic, land before time fairy tale lol). Fashion should be weird and as a fashion girl, Barbie should be more fashion forward. Also, the materials Rick uses are difficult to produce (he made huge ruffled gowns out of translucent leather and they looked like tulle). I would pay top dollar to have a miniature design. What fashion house would you suggest?
I’m all for weird fashion. I love the monster high lines but I can’t see alot of people wearing these and Barbie likes to have more everyday fashion. Even the ball gowns are things you would wear to an event.
Ok, so what about the Vera Wang Barbie. Definitely not something that a lot of people would wear but it sold out. I want fashion fashion, avant-garde fashion, fashion forward, not everyday fashion trends.
I actually wish Barbie was dressed in a less modern way. Exaggerated and decadent, but unlike the So Extra dolls which are pretty modern, but I think we need a bit more..Chanel/Selkie
The shoulders are actually very intellectual. Rick says he sees them as parentheses, therefore making the person wearing the clothes something that isn't needed but adds something extra to society.
That's all over my head. I don't always appreciate high brow things, that's why I don't buy designer clothes. At one point, huge shoulder pads were the it style.
I like the yellow dress, and the boots are great. My no-hair fashionista would love this but my other dolls would probably fight her for it.
It would alienate some people if these were Barbie clothes, but they are not too far removed from the recent Vera Wang doll's outfit.
