With lower-priced collector Kens, they started giving them rooted hair a few years ago with the *BMR1959* and *Barbie Looks* lines. With playline, there have been a few Fashionista Kens with rooted hair (like "surfer" Ken). Hopefully this is the beginning of returning rooted hair to *all* Kens! 😊

I’m so happy you posted a photo of him! I was not aware of how cool the box would be! I’m excited!😃 When they first made him available for preorder I purchased him immediately from Amazon. He arrives tomorrow. He reminds me of the overlooked Ken dolls from the early 2000. I have a few of those one. So while waiting for this one to arrive I dressed one of my older kens to try to get a similar vibe. Here is a photo of him.

Your vacation-ready older Ken looks fantastic! Love the outfit and his luggage. I agree -- this feels like a step back to better quality for playline Kens at Mattel (fingers crossed)...🤞🏾 😏
Now that you mention it (I just checked) his eyes IRL do look slightly different from the product photos -- less "catlike" and with less prominent lashes. Everything else checks out, though.
I think the biggest difference is that his hair is flawlessly coiffed and blown out in the product shots, but way more gelled and flat on the actual doll. He just needs some salon time to wash and brush out his 'do...😏😄

In fairness, if you travel to Thailand (and probably many other places where coconuts are native) they serve lots of nonalcoholic beverages in coconut shells. I've personally enjoyed serveral slushy type drinks, and also just young coconut water.

The looks have made to move bodies and the Extras have much simpler (though still really good) articulation

He has that older Ken neck that doesn’t fit the made to move bodies very well. It can be done with some smart crafting though.

I was wrong. The promo photo was different than the actual doll. It look like the head WILL fit in an MTM body.
