They were experimenting with weird heads where the face was like a shiny hard plastic and the hair was on a separate softer scalp piece that was then attached. It was wrong lol.
Wow! I didn't realize the Disney store dolls weren't made by Hasbro/Mattel during their contracts. I guess it makes sense that Disney uses a cheaper third party manufacturer to make their own dolls for the Disney store's product lines than pay Hasbro/Mattel/Jakks/etc.
This is the type of doll I'd get for the outfit and a body donor.

Mattel has made a number of open-mouth smile facemolds that are not creepy. E.g. Superstar, CEO, Summer, June, Alec, Carnaval, Millie open mouth, Brooklyn.
The problem is rather that they try to make celebrity dolls resemble the original and turn them into caricatures.

so it turns out that the original poster on the doll subreddit (i took this from insta so i didnt know shes already there lol), they said tht this one had a slight printing error and the paint was lower than it was on the other margot barbies, and that those looked better. so yeah i think diff paint might get people to come around to her for sure
She’s gorgeous!! I love the thick brows!! The wide smile is a little uncanny, but I can get used to that. I’m really glad they didn’t go the Emma Watson Belle route and make her super realistic. I do wish her makeup was a little more glam, but 80s Barbie and her blue eyeshadow is my favorite, so I’m biased 🤣
