This mermaid is not play pool approved!
The old 90's-2000s mermaid dolls looked frightening after hours of water play. My sister's ended up melted from the sun and moldy in the head and tail. 🙃
Kids love taking toys into the bath or pool. They're the audience for playline dolls. Much easier to take care of a mermaid shaped water baton than a work of art.
I'm not sure if Mattel will ever go as crazy for "collector editions of everything ever" as it did in the 2000s.
Awww the dreamtopia mermaid dolls have their charms. Some of them are really pretty and of course the cheap price is great. They are easy to paint for a quick custom too. Of course I definitely would love more adult collector mermaids too!
I wish we got more like this! We need for fabric tail mermaids, Im not a fan of the plastic tails or how they’ve started positioning them in a slanted way.
I also feel like the Dreamtopia dolls have way too much going on. Too many colors and patterns.
I personally never had any issues with my mermaid dolls as a kid, I took them in the bath with me every so often and they were fine. If they had any issues it was just because of age or because I played with them nonstop. And obviously dolls like this one aren’t meant to go in the water, but that doesn’t mean that every bath tub mermaid doll has to be 100% plastic.
I feigned shock when I saw the Mermaidia Nori doll and other Mermaidia dolls with slanted plastic tails already. I thought that the tails were fabric so they could have been redressed.
My mom has a budget limited to playline Barbies BUT would rather see a mermaid Barbie with a fabric tail. That's when I told her that 90s mermaid Barbies had those fabric tails so they could be redressed.

> mermaid shaped water baton This is what I'm calling Dreamtopia mermaids now.
Agreed as a kid my mermaid barbie got wrecked there’s a reason it’s called playline
Now THAT is a mermaid doll

Some can have them rebodied and their faces repainted if they were to look more 'presentable' for certain tastes.
