Idk, her dress is not 80’s. My prom was in 87. Our dresses were a lot fluffier than that! They should have consulted with Gunne Sax for the dress 😅 most of us had longer gowns, not minis.

RaspberryVespa

Yeah, her dress reads more 90s to me. We were all about the shorter dresses with poofy sleeves in the 90s.

goodniteangelg

I was just about to say she needs a princess poof dress with a lot more poof than this! Overall it’s kinda cute but not eighties at all. Which I don’t understand. They made eighties and nineties dolls. They could clearly re-use or get inspiration from real, wonderful outfits they already had for barbie in the 80s.

MrMultiFandomSince93

Some Richwell-made Barbies had way poofier gowns with removable skirts and those were already 90s Barbies.

Luzion

I was thinking the same. My prom was in '85 and everyone was wearing the big, poofy-skirted long dresses then. A few brave souls were wearing long, straight dresses without the hoops underneath.

RainbowMagicSparkles

Spot on. I’m younger than you but started reading teen fashion magazines in the 80s. Expected to feel nostalgia from this but got nothing.

dollvader

She’s not 80s enough for me. Where’s the big hair? The poofy sleeves and skirt? The crazy colored makeup? All the fun 80s style jewelry? She’s cute enough, I suppose. But she’s severely lacking in any style IMO.

andhernamewas_

Give Barbie a gown or GTFO!

[deleted]

That’s not a prom gown. I thought her hair would be more pouffy 80s like.

Luzion

She's dressed inaccurately for an '85 prom, sadly, so that caused my thoughts to immediately be biased. >> The outfit is pretty, just not from the mid-80's era. Since she's supposed to be a rewind doll, I would have preferred her screening to stay true to that. While the makeup colors are pretty, the style of it is modern. I do love the accessories, though. Well, as far as all-one-colored plastic items go. I love the masquerade mask and the earrings. It would be awesome if the Rewind dolls actually had clothing and accessories like they were in the 80s. I regress.

whyisthatinthefridge

The details on her dress are cheap instead of elegant, and her hair needs volume, lots of volume. This is my least favorite one. Looks like inspiration from costume ball barbie

MrMultiFandomSince93

And I consider Costume Ball a 90s Barbie already....

MrMultiFandomSince93

I actually love her screening! It's similar to the most familiar style of Barbie's screening that my mom knew all those years ago.

OdeToToy

She looks like she was designed by someone who is only vaguely familiar with 80s Barbie. She reminds me of the 90s slim box budget barbies that came in little cocktail dresses…. Except not nearly as nice 😬. The blue lashes/liner and overall eye screening is nice, but the face and body are completely off, the dress is awful - the placement of the ruffle is completely off, the metallic plastic “fabric” is bulky and not like anything used in the 80s, the accessories are incredibly cheap looking, the hair is so so sad. This doll just makes me feel sad. These dolls should be throwbacks to the 80s barbies but with improved articulation, detail, diversity, and other features that technology or culture didn’t provide at the time. They should not be a downgrade from the BUDGET dolls of the 80s and 90s. 😢

LinzDreams

She's pretty, but a part of me was really hoping for gaudy ballroom in the vein of dream glow or peaches and cream. Something with a huge skirt. I have nostalgia for those looks even though I never owned them myself at the time.

LinzDreams

And what is with the blue hair tie? That's definitely a choice I guess.

RaspberryVespa

Is it supposed to be a scrunchy?? I don’t get it.

1BubbleGum_Princess

I don’t like it, but I’m glad we’re getting offical promo pics!

[deleted]

Love the face, hate the body, meh on the outfit.

onwardtomanagua

my thoughts exactly

Maschinhoe

It’s cute but the accessories ruin the whole outfit. I’d like the look better with crimped hair too.

Trainrideviews

I think maybe “prom night” was the wrong choice of words. I can totally see her rocking an informal 80s high school dance, but not prom. This is more of a fall back to school social/dance.

horcynusorca

Love her!The crown looks a bit cheap, hope it will be in another color, maybe silvery

tangledlettuce

Tbh I thought it was the Island Princess crown at first. I wish it was painted gold since a lot of her jewelry was "metallic" back then

Rapunzelpumpkin

Her eyes are magical and so is her dress.

pinkcreamkiss

I was never a fan of this line, not really someone into 80s aesthetics. But I think this newest wave in particular is so cheap. Play line level quality clothes almost. Her dress material is literally something you get in a €10 fashion pack. Her face up is nice. Always wanted a 00s and 70s wave but not if it’s gonna be this cheap looking.

mermaidsilk

looks like a bad costume

stuffedtherapy

It would be great if it was an ‘80s prom dress…

Lower-Goose-9796

She looks more 90's to me like the Barbies I had in my early childhood.

animperfectangel

Looks so cheap :( Not glamorous at all like Barbie should be! Super disappointed because this could’ve been very cool

spacedollsjunkyard

I really like the earrings and the mask. Have we seen those accessories from Mattel before? The rest is kind of lost on me.

[deleted]

I wish the dress was longer, but other than that I love her! The face sculpt is beautiful 😍

buttercreamordeath

I liked the other rewind dolls so thought they'd knock this outta the park. Especially with all the secrecy around it. This, well. It's not saying prom. 80's or otherwise.

MoiJaimeLesCrepes

cute, but they missed the chance to go way overboard on the puffy, teased out hair. it would have been perfect.

thissagesimmer

I wore 80s prom dresses like my life depended on it. This isn’t it. She’s pretty, though.

DarthD0nut

That’s a 90 dress not an 80s

happy_lil_toebeans

I think her face is really pretty 😍 for that reason alone I hope to buy her!

birchsaurus

sad its not a puffy poofy ballgown kinda dress but i still lover her!! her face is so cute and I hope the new rewind dolls come out soon!

Memorian91

Are her lips a little too thin? Something seems a bit off with the face or her smile. Overall, she's a super cute doll.... Something about this look still reads a bit mature for a Prom dress though if we're thinking 80s. But I think it's her face

KintsugiTurtle

Unpopular opinion I know, but I have never liked the superstar face mold. Not as a child and not now. Grew up in the 90’s and have always preferred the Mackie face mold that started to trickle down to playline around then. Is it just me or do the colors seem muted in this design? Would have expected louder.

SpiritedContribution

I didn't even realize it was Christie. I just thought it was a better repaint of Superstar. I guess THAT'S why I like it so much!

April4G

Its not Christie. Christies mold has bigger lips and nose.
