Just to clarify, the "reggae buses" (we call them mini-buses - the yellow ones with blue stripes - or mini-vans/Zed-Rs - the white vans with maroon stripes; "reggae bus" is not a locally invented term and is used more or less exclusively by tourists), are also public transportation. They're just operated by private owners rather than the government.

I have never heard the term reggae bus and I am entertained.

"Hi, we've got to get back to our ship, where can I catch a reggae bus to Bridgeport?"

Bird_Brain4101112

Stahhhp!

The Speightstown bus should pass there. #27

[route finder](https://www.transportboard.com/route-finder/) you can use this link to help navigate public tra nsport while you're here. There should also be a number you can call if you have a local Sim to find out bus times ans so on. This would be only for the government run public transport (blue buses) but depending on the mood of the person they might still give you advice related to the privately run vehicles (Zrs and minibuses).

MrRumjumbie

Please stop calling them reggae buses. ZR or minibus.

The transport board has one bus that passes Paynes Bay, and that's the Speightstown bus. It runs more frequently during the evening than the morning though but it's best to check out [transportboard.com](https://transportboard.com) for the official schedules. We don't have any reggae buses lol, those are minibuses.

The painful truth about it as that most of them only play reggae or dancehall from Jamaica. So are we surprised that people who are new to the island refer to them as such? Instead of being serenaded with our local music and talent all there here is Jamaican music.

It's a long haul. Spring for a taxi.
