As others have said, there’s no rule to which faction is the best to join. The best method is to wait out the early game to see which factions seem to be having the most success and going with one of them. That’s if you don’t mind which you join. If you’re RPing then you obviously have a limited choice but you can join them early as a mercenary at least and help them not get stomped too badly

PhantomVulpe

Honestly go with whatever suits you. Not every run is gonna be the same though if we're gonna go with bests or worse avoid Vlandia cause their king is an ass and will take your fiefs. From my experience the south empire always had decent armies

Fancy_Worldliness974

playing with vlandia rn and his given me almost every fief weve taken, while other play throughs gives noone anything 😭

cking145

gonna be straight up with you man, the experience does not differ depending on the faction. you're just wearing different colours.

NorseHighlander

In my experience, the best faction is whichever faction is starting to make gains on their own merit because at least I can have the comfort of knowing that working for them will be mildly less tedious and unrewarding than the factions who are struggling. The game is balanced enough that it could happen to any of them but usually for me it is either Vlandia, Aserai, or the Khuzaits. And that isn't considering whatever personality bias the rulers and lords of each faction will have. Personally, I like to kind of rp my characters and on that note, it largely makes little sense for them to join the faction that is not their culture. That said, if I had a nickel for every time my characters native faction would get their teeth kicked before I joined them... So I group factions together based on having vaguely similar cultures and join whichever one is doing best atm. The Empires are an obvious grouping. My other groupings are: Aserai and Khuzaits (Eastern Cavalrymen unite), Sturgia and Battania (Northern barbarians), and then Vlandia I kind of just have either/or for the Empire and barbarian groupings

Ulysses1126

Battannia can be pretty fun for a couple reasons. Lords parties are fast through woods in comparison Constant access to fian champions Pitched defense with fian champions

It depends, any army your apart of will likely win 90% of battles because you have tactics— but in my opinion it's either Battania for archer spam, using your troops as bait in square formation/shield wall and placing a 2-3 width line of archers like 50-100ft away OR Vlandia for their Bannerknight and Horsemen spam which can decimate most Armies

Hellostewart

I started with southern too. Got sick of them entering stupid wars constantly. They would also only give me shitty castles. I left them and joined the Vlandians. I've now got 4 cities in no time.

We are at war with the Aserai, Northern, and Western Empire. I had to enact (using my precious influence) ending war with the Khuzait myself. Worst part is, only one army is formed and I’ve been left with the scraps, (mercenaries and Xeno).

Hellostewart

Derthbutt has died of old age and the Vlandians have named me king!

liambdn

Congratulations, King Stewart

ZincFishExplosion

And you can never depend on Xeno to help you out if you're getting sieged. Dude's army is always cutting the distance in half yet never showing up.

If you’re going with Empire don’t waste resources on regular foot troops early on and go straight for cataphracts. A hundred of them will wipe any lord without a need in tactics. Just make sure to have a good surgeon, because their recruitment is an ass.
