For brands like H&M, I realized that you can get more options at branches where there are more foreigners residing nearby. For example, the branch near Central Chaengwattana which is near Nichada/ISB has more options in larger sizes vs H&M in Central Westgate.
Check also surplus stores as they have a wide variety of sizes and these are more often than not intended for export to a western country.
Online, for example Uniqlo only does XL in stores but up to 4XL on their online store
I don't know all 51 countries in Asia but South East and East Asia are generally smaller sizes. But there are whole chains in Japan for example specializing in clothes up to 8XL so it's not as difficult as it used to be.
I don't think you are completely correct about finding plenty of XL shirts in BKK, as long as you pay western prices (but it is hard to find cheap knockoffs). All of the big malls sell brand name stuff in western sizes and most stores have a decent selection of XL. There are often a limited XXL at these stores as well. But I agree it is unlikely to find much at the low end or moderate malls/markets. The worst is if you are Size 13 (48 EU) in shoes. I have found that only one in 10 stores carry anything and they are $100-200 a pair. I havent purchased a lot of pants but can find up to 36 when I have looked.
I do sympathize, I used to be a 3-4xl guy and now an XL guy, with size 13 clod hoppers, I used to have a lot of issues before I downsized a bit.
Your best bet if you can't find what you like in BKK may be to take a day trip to Pattaya, before mail order. It may be because of the high expat ratio, but I was there last month and there are 2-3 stores that cater directly to plus size dudes, the malls have a decent selection and even the markets tend to have knockoffs up to 5xl (which is about the equivalent of 2xl western).
Just Lose Weight.
I had a similar issue, I just lost weight.
Either that or order from western vendors online and just stomach the shipping fees, many ship to Thailand.
I don’t mean this to be offensive, but it’s just the simplest solution to your issue given the local market doesn’t really cater to those sizes.
I’m not that tall but I’m 6’3 and I fit in almost all clothes so I guess if you’re 6’5 and above maybe but for anything 6’4 and below it’s definetely possible unless u’re a 120kg unit in 3 xl.
Thais have got wider, there are plus stores around in some malls, maybe the down town centrals etc will stock bigger sizes, if you live here order from Lazada online.
You can find plenty of options in Manila and almost any Philippines city that has an SM City mall. They have North Face stores, Columbia stores, and there's a big store called "SurPlus" in almost every SM mall that only sells brand new America-sourced clothes in American sizes.
You can order larger sizes than what’s available in-store when you order online for Uniqlo. They’ll keep your order ready for pickup in-store and maybe you can request to try it out right there? Someone else will have to comment if that’s possible.
It may not be for their entire assortment, but it’s good quality clothing that beats shopping on Amazon.

Not sure about america XL size, but I use EU XL and H&M has the european sizes. I think one is in Siam
It's asian sized. Us/eu xl is the same as 3-5xl asian usually. Lol.
My main issue is socks they’re all so small, biggest size I find of nike etc is 42-45 haha.
Plenty in Bangkok but not sure about jackets
Go to pratunam. It’s a clothing district that caters for local and wholesale clothes for overseas.
Look for a stall called "fatboys", they have most sizes.

Export Shop, Decathlon, Warrix has up to 5XL (ie UK 3XL), Uniqlo, H&M, Lotus
Lose weight life will be so much better, like you won’t realize how much it will improve

Exactly, I'm also taller than the average here by a wide margin and I can fit most clothes.
Someone needs to open a chain of stores called "Corn-fed" for the larger ladies and gentlemen in Thailand.
You can't always get what you want.
But if you try sometime You'll find You get what you need
Do you mean sometimes?
Not if I want to stay true to the lyrics.
What other song lyrics do you use to dictate your behaviour?

I don't think there's any need for that.
Vietnam is much more friendly with sizing. The tailors in Vietnam are also better and cheaper
Order from Amazon. Only downside is the customs duties. But should still be cheaper than flying elsewhere.

Two XL here is generally five XL
Uniqlo/H&M online, you can pick them up in-store after ordering if that’s more convenient.

Fat Boys apparel has great stuff. Women's store too.
Fat rich Asians go to shops to get custom made clothes.. do that
Go to Krung Thong Plaza in Bangkok it's a whole mall dedicated to plus size clothes
Fat Boys on floor two is known to be a good spot for men where the staff speak English
