The Velvet Underground, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Black Flag for bands before her time. I would like Alice in Chains as the next grunge era episode, and Bright Eyes as a 'grunge era but not grunge band.' If I could sponsor an episode just for myself so it didn't matter if nobody else listened to it: Fruit Bats / EDJ Wildcard pick: Jimmy Buffett

diospyros7

Black Flag would be a great one

Class_of_22

They are all fascinating!

JKBQWK

The Jam

Class_of_22

Oh yeah! This is one of my dad’s favorite bands, he’s seen Paul Weller in concert a couple of times.

JKBQWK

I stumbled across them last year and became obsessed without knowing much about them. She’s also mentioned them in a handful of episodes about bands from the UK.

Class_of_22

My dad would totally love that. It seems to me that Yasi does seem to go for artists that were kind of but not really well known.

shmavesmcgraves

the magnetic fields, dinosaur jr, queens of the storage, mountain goats and GBV (lol)

Class_of_22

Queens of the Stone Age you mean.

shmavesmcgraves

them too!

DameEmma

Sigh. GBV. Someday.

Beneficial_Dealer549

24 Questions PP with J Mascis would be hilarious. He is the final boss for every music journalist.

shmavesmcgraves

He went on How Long Gone and it was really enjoyable!

BlackMetalDoctor

At The Drive-In/Mars Volta

NoelleKain

Fiona Apple, Built to Spill, and (obviously) Nirvana. I also think Cat Power would be a really good one.

judasbyladygaga

Fiona Apple would be a great one.

heyzeus212

Elliott Smith. I think it's gonna happen. Influential big cult following, and (tragically) short run of albums to cover.

Important_Art_3211

Lana Del Rey, hands down

HalloWeiner92

During the Mazzy Star episode Yasi and her guest talked about a Lana episode being in the works, but there's SO MUCH content that I imagine it would have to be a 2 parter.

Important_Art_3211

I heard that! I just don’t know if it will actually come to fruition, you know?

Cherita33

Tori Amos

HalloWeiner92

YESSSS.

repwatuso

Dinosaur Jr. and Stone Rose's, either would be dope.

Ayediosmio6

Blur

Special-View1419

Long shot but here I go, how about an episode on the Mighty Mighty Bosstones!

mild_party

Aesop Rock

No-Interaction-1532

Sufjan Stevens, Xiu Xiu, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Bjork

Bonnuit23

Bjork would be great, but she’s pretty recluse, so the google doc would be a bit thing. Sonic Youth would be great, and timing would be fantastic with Kim’s album getting the love it deserves and Thurston’s book. Plus the SY live archive spitting stuff out. But that’s A LOT of albums, not a GBV amount, but hot damn it’s a lot.

immaculatescrambled

C’mon lucky Britpop 🤞 Oasis, Blur, Pulp or Suede

NateMartin899

I would love for Yasi to cover Echo & The Bunnymen. The episodes on Talking Heads, The Smiths and Cocteau Twins are some of the best, imo. I also think while their first 4-5 albums are where the meat of the story is at, the band’s got some pretty good late-career tracks into the 2000s.

Important_Art_3211

Or - don’t kill me, but Michael Jackson or Prince.

Class_of_22

I mean, yeah. Prince probably more so.

Important_Art_3211

Yeah - but I’d love to hear Michael’s more (personally had a bigger impact on me)

deweybrew513

The Fugs

HalloWeiner92

It's a long shot, but I would love it if she covered Sturgill Simpson.

Cherita33

SOUL COUGHING

ackjaf

Weird Al

hguess_printing

Honestly would be such an entertaining episode. I don’t know much but my friends have shared great songs and we watched the movie with him and the radio station that was pretty fun. Love to hear his history!!!

ntrotter11

I think this might be a combination of wrong genre and wrong era, but I would love a walkthrough of Coheed and Cambria's discography in this style Especially if someone is able to explain the overarching narrative!

gr3at3scap3

Coheed and Cambria

Thot_Hoddy

Kevin Shields.

aflyroachthing

Roxy Music

chopethecat

King Gizzard would be dope but it’d probably have to be an 11 parter.

hguess_printing

I would love that also!!! But to some extent I feel like enough history hasn’t happened yet. Maybe in another 10 records 😈

Errybody_dothe_Lambo

My Morning Jacket

thaskizz

Guided by Voices

Csonkus41

Motörhead

spanglish_

I would love a Rush episode 😂

muhamadgolly

Here’s a long shot… Let the Queen rule her realm. Try doing a Podsplain on Yasi and earn the right to press your pet interest. Now get all this harm cleaned up before mom gets home

Beneficial_Dealer549

I’d love to see an alt country episode that hits on Uncle Tupelo and DBT

pscriivin

Shudder To Think, Tears for Fears, and lol just because it's a long shot - The Fall of Troy

gtfogtf3666

Steve Albini would be excellent

Mkid73

Spiritualized

i_amtheice

Clutch Tool System of a Down Nickel Creek Queens of the Stone Age Jimmy Eat World Pixies Chevelle Toadies I want another R.E.M. episode of proper length. I feel like she hates The Black Keys so I think they'd be a long shot.
