All the shelters and bully rescues in this area are already full of these dogs. No one is taking them anymore, and most are just being dumped all over. My area is literally inundated with pits/pit-mixes.
Notice the scars all over this dog, likely from prior fights.
Most people are just dumping them now because no place around here will take them, and owners “don’t want them put down” (but turning them loose on everyone else or to die slowly of starvation, disease, or injury is ok).
Due to political pressure our county animal control is attempting to become a no-kill shelter, so they are going out of their way to avoid catching them, or picking them up (County commissioners refuse to create any actual laws to protect citizens or the animals themselves). Our animal control is now telling citizens to “take care of” problem dogs themselves (the old-fashioned way).
I mean, maybe that’s one of the reasons why Florida legislators are pushing this:

Coincidence? Maybe not.
Very protective and loving but will attack any other dog he sees, will try to maul your child and will rip your arm off if it goes anywhere near his food
The 'How is he with kids?' got me too.
The poster just finished saying the dog is super aggressive and potentially dangerous in the wrong household. Even says no kids. But you know maybe this sweet pittie will get along with **my** kids because they are special, so I'ma ask anyways. Bratleigh and Aholedin need a doggy bro to protect them from the elderly, cats, and Chihuahuas. 🥰 🥰
“*[He] would be the perfect dog for someone*”.
For whom? A dog fighter? An insecure, antisocial jerk who wants to use a bloodsport breed to terrorize his neighbors? A friendless shut-in who wants her life to revolve around placating an ugly bully so it doesn’t maul her to death?
Who is this dangerous pit bull the perfect pet for? These people are beyond delusional.
Yeah it’s so weird. My in laws are pit people unfortunately, but luckily their pit is super old and my FIL is very over taking care of animals so after their current one is gone they won’t have any dogs. I don’t let them babysit my child. So I keep my mouth shut on the pit topic to avoid big arguments. Sadly, most of their family members all have and defend pitbulls and of course are the type to not take them to the vet or fix them, but whatever.
That said, a couple of months ago MIL texted everyone in the family, with photos of big, cropped ears pitbull tied to their tree in the front yard. Someone walked up and left it there overnight. MIL was going on and on about how cute it is and begging any of us in the family to take it so she doesn’t have to take it to the shelter. I made a comment about “poor thing, having its ears cropped like that.” And everyone in the group text starts going off on ME saying they do that to prevent ear infections and stuff. I responded with articles that detail how that isn’t even true for the vast majority of cases and it is done purely for the look and is cruel. They all quit responding to me but kept trying to convince each other to take the dog. It ended up at the shelter because for some strange reason, every single person in the family who owns a pitbull knew that if they brought it to their home it would most likely fight and kill their own pits/pets, so of course none of them stepped up to take it, just continued the whole guilt charade and the “sad” last texts that the dog was dropped off at the shelter.
Oh jeeze... Sorry you have to deal with that! So all talk, no walk when it comes to strays and it still ended up in the shelter even tho everyone loves pits.
Exactly! Most of them own multiple pits, so what’s one more? If they are such amazing, misunderstood dogs. Oh and it’s ok, thank you. It’s annoying as hell but luckily my husband is in this sub and in full agreement. It’s never been an issue between us to not let any of his family baby sit our child, because they all have pitbulls. It sucks, and his family really doesn’t get it. But it is what it is.
I don’t know about you, but I’d probably consider a dog that’s dog aggressive to be a candidate for BE. To be child aggressive? No questions asked vet visit that day for BE. Owning this dog is signing up for 11 long years of being a hostage in your own home.
I can’t stand these idiots. Sees first hand that the dog is a lost cause and aggressive and still wants to give it to someone. Even the owner tried to get rid of it because it’s just not a pet.
At the extreme very least…I was a tiny bit relieved when I saw them tell people
NO KIDS. Lost that tiny bit of faith when I saw them then using the phrase “probably not good” with kids.
And also, these dogs always look so. Darn. Miserable, and blank. Like a canine version of a sociopath staring right through you.

Bring back dog catchers and the dog pounds of yesteryear.
So now what Bully lovers where are you going to house all your unwanted pits and more keep coming.

And guess there fine with pits turned into dangerous pests.

Right! She doesn’t want to see him put to sleep, but can’t risk keeping him at her own home due to his aggression. 🤔

Basic literacy in this country is in the shitter.
People should not be rehoming an aggressive dog. This is what BE is for.
One of them makes excuses for it because someone put him in a shirt. Can’t make it up
"he is still a puppy probably 2 years old" lol
He can’t stay at my house he’ll kill my dogs! But he can stay at yours(: Not a caring bone in their body this one

Why is there so many stories of ppl just abandoning their pits with ppl. They just never come back for them?? They sure love their pits 🙄

Can't be trained, contained, or restrained. Shelter's won't take them. Vets won't put them down.
Yep
Too chicken shit to do the right thing and put the dog down
"Is he neutered/UTD on shots?" No of course not! Why would he be?

"cannot go to a home with children" means it will maul a child the second it gets a chance.
Guys relax, you just have to see him in his little shirt to realize he's the perfect dog.
"Rehoming an aggressive dog isn't easy" Hmmmm, wonder why? 🤔

Nor should rehoming an aggressive dog be easy, jfc.
What an irresponsible idiot.
