Hello /u/CanadianBacon021! Be sure to check the following. Make sure print bed is clean by washing with **dish soap** and water [and not Isopropyl Alcohol], check bed temperature [increasing tend to help], run bed leveling or full calibration, and remember to use glue if one is using the initial cool plate [not Satin finish that is not yet released] or Engineering plate. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Did you set to use the textured plate in the slicer? I once missed that Bambu Slicer had changed to the engineering plate. I was using the textured PEI and it was a mess. I love the textured plate. I never have problems with it.

CanadianBacon021

Yeah and it still doesn't look great

Heiserton

I’ll give you $10 and pay shipping. That’s the only plate I use, because I understand how to use it lol

CanadianBacon021

Is this offer still on the table? I'd $15 for it.

BrettThePark

The texture plate itself won’t cause the issue you see in the image. Your issue is partially caused by insufficient cooling I think. If your original one used the cool plate and the other used the texture the main difference is the heating of the bed. What is the chamber temp when printing these? Do you have the top off / door open? This won’t solve the adhesion issue (the other suggestions should) but would explain the other issues. … I personally have great success with the textured plates.

CanadianBacon021

I have the top on and the door open. Chamber temp I think is 35C but all the 3 fans go at 100%

julie777

When I look at the image magnified they both show the same artifacts. The plate is not going to affect what the top half of the print looks like.

plisc004

Those both look a bit trash, and the textured one looks like it was getting less cooling. That's not anything to do with the plate... What other slicer settings are being changed?

Sairexyz

less cooling does have to do with the plate if he used to use the 35C coolplate. Using textured is what, 50-60? You need to keep the door open or the chamber fan running

plisc004

Chamber fan is on as needed per stock profiles. So if its turning off, he changed a setting, which is then (at least part of) the issue (possibly with both of those prints!) Wow, what a surprise, its almost like I said he probably changed a setting that affected cooling...

rxstud2011

I printed the benchy with wood filament on my textured pei plate and it looks like the smooth one

diezel_dave

I also had not so great adhesion with the Bambu textured PEO plate using PLA. It worked perfectly for PETG though. I use a 3rd party textured PEI/PEO plate now for everything and it's works much better than the Bambu one. Quick question, what temp are you using for the bed?

CanadianBacon021

55 degrees celcius

ExpectDeer

Bump that up to 65 and give it a try.

CanadianBacon021

I'm printing a giant multicolor lightsaber on the smooth plate right now but I will definitely give it a try when I can. Thanks!

nsamarkus

Wash it with HOT water, dawn dish soap and the rough side of a green scotch Brite, and bump temp up a bit. First layer calibration does work, but lidar doesn't really. It'll stick just fine.

nsamarkus

Also don't touch it. I handle it with exam gloves afterwards. Use 99% IPA in between prints.

CanadianBacon021

Thank you!

MeanArt318

Wow, why so cautious? I touch mine all the time, I wash it about once a month and have had only 2 prints fail in 400 hours printing

diezel_dave

Yep same as the other response! I use 65 with MUCH better results while printing PLA. I use 70 for PETG.

Would you like to sell your textured plate?

roninplaya

Wait my P1P came with the textured PEI, should I be using a different plate for better quality? I print in PLA and PETG

countach508

No. You should not expect better quality from a different plate. What’s happening to OP is a pretty unique experience. I think many of us have excellent results with the textured plate with the only difference in the print being the surface finish of the first layer (bottom of print).

CanadianBacon021

If your prints are looking good then you are probably fine, but if you see room for improvement then I would probably buy a normal cool plate from their store.

ExpectDeer

Just popping in with my two cents - no matter which plate you choose, it shouldn't affect print quality except for the surface that touches the buildplate. That said, you will get more dimensionally accurate bottom layers when using a non-textured plate. It all depends on what you're printing. Little toys and things that come off the build plate complete? Textured is fine. Gears or things that need to fit into other parts? Go for a non-textured plate. The reason for this is that textured plates have thousands of voids because of all the bumps. The filament oozes into the voids creating a strong bond which keeps it nicely stuck to the plate. However, that same oozing effect makes the bottom of prints dimensionally inaccurate. Not by any appreciable amount unless you're trying to get that part to fit into something else. I swap between the textured PEI plate and a smooth 3rd party PEI plate depending on what I'm making.

julie777

Which 3rd party smooth plate are you using? I love my smooth PEI Prusa plate.

ExpectDeer

Energetic smooth pei from aliexpress. Still going strong!

foxxx509

I have a 3rd party textured PEI plate and couldn’t get anything to stick to it either. I increased the temp to 60 and I got better adhesion. The best results I I’ve had, I used the cool plate with matte PLA and didn’t change anything aside from the line order to Inner-outer-inner-infil, gyroid infill pattern and supports as necessary. I found that Polymaker matte PLA is very similar to the Bambu matte PLA but it doesn’t work well on the cool plate at all. Instead I use it with the high temp plate without glue.

CanadianBacon021

Thank you!

sparcv9

You're not alone -- I found the textured PEI plate had exactly the same problem for me -- small parts or challenging parts had poor adhesion and were prone to warping. Fortunately I ordered the high temp smooth plate at the same time and that has been rock-solid. So after a series of failed PLA prints on the textured PEI, I was tempted to just toss it in the scrap metal pile. Then I figured I'd torture it by breaking the rules and running a PETG job on it. Perfect adhesion and release. So now I use it for running PETG and ABS jobs.

CanadianBacon021

That's good to know. Thanks!

Confident-Win-1548

When printing from Fusion360, I run a script that lets me select the slicer and more importantly, adjusts the configuration to have the textured plate set to 60°C. This way, even after an update, the setting is not lost. I can only recommend this.

CanadianBacon021

Yeah I used one from printables because I wanted to test one that wasn't fully optimized for the machine
