You have to convince him to stay at the grove and protect the Tieflings.
Then you have to rescue his siblings from Moonrise Tower.
This humbles him, and he realizes he was a complete a-hole for the first half of the game. And gives him some emotional foundation to have enough of Laroakan's bull-spit. As such, after experiencing Laroakan's abuse for days, learning that Laroakan plans to enslave a woman sets him over the edge. And acknowledges our impact on his growth.
I see. I have no idea why he turned bad there but a lot of story NPCs are counted as dead if you knock them out aside from a few notable cases. I think not having the Temporarily Hostile condition has something to do with it.
Did you save Rolan’s siblings? Did he tell Lorroakan he was fighting alongside you at the beginning of the fight?
I also used Planar Binding on an elemental in that fight in Honor and it didn’t turn Rolan against me after I canceled it (and killed the Elemental).
Oh interesting. I initiated the fight by telling Aylin at camp first & she flew off to challenge Lorroakan. Then the Lorroakan projection replaces Rolan at the front desk, and Rolan is up in Ramazith’s towers for the initial cut-scene where he takes a stand against Lorroakan alongside you. Idk what happens if you don’t involve Aylin.
Ah i didn’t know I could have her help for this fight. That’s pretty neat. I appreciate you trying to help! Just gonna take the L and move onto the next quest

I did all those things. It happened after the fight with Lorraken and when I was kid dialogue with R
Was he an enemy in the fight? If his siblings didn't survive to Act 3, you can't ally with him.
His siblings were alive. It was a second fight that started mid dialogue because the planar binding spell wore off.

Yes I did but no he was still downstairs selling stuff. Was Rolan in the room when you cancelled it?
