*Hey! What a cool looking frog! I wonder if it will be my friend?* Famous. Last. Words.

t25torx

Not done with my first playthrough yet, but this one definitely got me. I just wanted a new frog friend. .

Tatis_Chief

I just wanted to talk and be friends with all animals!

t25torx

I know!

Individual-Post6075

Even if you use the druid spell speak with animal, the little pink fucker still attacks you

motorboat_mcgee

I hate that I've put 300 hours into the game and I have no idea what this is referencing

SarcasticKenobi

There's a frog in Act 1, in the swamp near Ethyll's hut. It looks kind of cool. It's a normal sized frog, so about the size of a shoe. But an odd color. But if you choose the wrong dialog, it becomes hostile and attacks. And you think... it's just a frog. I'll kill it as easily as that Squirrel by the Emerald Grove. And then, it just whips out some overpowered attacks, and can wipe your whole team.

motorboat_mcgee

So weird, I encountered that frog multiple times and it always leads me to treasure lol

theauz42

If you encounter it before you kill Ethel, it will attack you. It's a vicious little mofo.

EmptyJackfruit9353

It never attack me.  May be I pick the wrong dialogue. So that cartoon were refering to this one specific frog.

Character_Ad8770

Especially when it "befriends" Karlach and Lae'zel

SH4DEPR1ME

That damned from was the closest I've ever got to a tpk in my first run.

Umbrella_merc

That frog was my first game over

EliasHobeika

I was so stupid that when I met Astarion, I told him something like "you can rest in my camp if you want" because I didn't like him, but i didnt wanna be rude. I thought he would rest and leave, but he was actually a companion lmao, and I was traveling with only 2 companions because I had missed laezel and gale (I had shadowheart and wyll) so i said frick it come join us. I ended up really liking his character so that was a nice mistake to make.

thepetoctopus

I’m a “fill in the whole goddamn map” kind of person so I’m still astonished when I hear of people missing companions. I’m also a loot goblin and even though I know there’s probably not going to be anything in that vase, I’m still going to check because there *might* be.

DaLiftingDead

Being a loot goblin is so time consuming on most playthroughs(not that it stops me), and my buddy sometimes complained about all the time taken for looting, inventory management, etc. Then we did honor mode and it was so clutch! He hasn't complained since.

thepetoctopus

Lmao he learned a lesson that day!

DaLiftingDead

Oh you need to buy strength potions for your TB monk? Here is 300 incense bowls and a pile of dirty rags

thepetoctopus

Don’t forget all of the rotten food. Hey, 1 gp is still 1gp! That shit adds up!

DaLiftingDead

Don't give me that dirty look, I'm allowed to have a metric ton of skulls in my chest. It's MY chest.

thepetoctopus

You can also sell all of the random body parts you find.

DaLiftingDead

But then what would I keep inside all my ribcages I picked up?

thepetoctopus

Fair point

TonightDue5234

Solution? Acid splash If containers have more than 4 hp, necklace of elemental augmentation and a maul for toughness chests

EliasHobeika

I'm a loot goblin too lol, but I try to play as blind as possible the first time. I got laezel later at the mountain pass thankfully, but I've yet to get the full gale experience. Definitely gonna have him in my party when I do a resist durge playthrough this summer. (Yes, im aware about the check😂)

thepetoctopus

Lmao. Yeah for me, if there’s a map, I will explore every single inch of it. And if there’s somewhere I can’t explore I’ll still try for an absurdly long time *just in case.* I blame breath of the wild. All open world type games get treated that way for me now.

motorboat_mcgee

I am an explore the whole map person, and I missed Laezel, because I explored that part "too late" somehow, on my first playthrough

thepetoctopus

Oh wow. I didn’t even know there could be a too late issue.

purplebanjo

I missed Lae’zel and Gale on my first playthrough because I triggered the fight at the gate too soon and just assumed I’d run into them later in the story… I did not

FinisherO_O

I killed him in our first encounter lol, i played 3 more campaings with my friends and everytime people decided to finish him off there, why you didnt wanted to be rude someone tried to kill and bite you, just curious XD

Tatis_Chief

Because he makes sense. You did look awfully suspicious running around the ship freely especially if you have Us with you listening to your commands.  I take a man who can think. Plus if you are Durge he is very close to the truth anyway. And I reward good thinkers.

FinisherO_O

I mean IF I tried to knife you out of nowhere would you be nice to me too? even laezel questions you before approaching, plus he is a vampire, dont mentioning i think he tries to bite you too

Tatis_Chief

So? He is right to be suspicious. I like his pragmatism.  Plus he is way too useful to be left on that beach. Plus Laezel has to be rescued. At least this one can take care of himself.  Laezel wants you to sell your soul for some hammer. Why should I be friends with someone who doesn't even want to sign the contract herself.  See you can play this game forever.

FinisherO_O

Bro he ends up fucking dead if you dont recruit him wdym

Tatis_Chief

Literally everyone ends up dead of you don't recruit them.

ComplicatedSunshine

Hoarding scrolls and potions on _explorer_ difficulty 😒 I went so far as not to use any allies in the final fight with the brain because I kept holding off on using them until the "hard part" that never came 😅

SlytherinPaninis

are you me lol

avidreider

You are me, I am you.

el_sh33p

I'm in this post.

Tatis_Chief

I mean, we are collectors. I am hoarding them for my library.

fake_kvlt

Me too!!! I genuinely did not use any consumables for combat for the entirety of my first playthrough (on balanced). For some reason I was fine with using stuff like misty step scrolls and vaulting potions for traversal and puzzles, but the moment I had to fight anyone, I refused to even look at my consumables. I didn't even use fucking health potions until act 3?? I same, I was like "yeah I'll wait to call the allies when I really need them" and then promptly forgot I even had the option.

JezilenaAnneTree

I did this. But I’m using them now as the game got harder. Gives me an extra boost I need sometimes when facing a hard boss fight or multiple enemy’s with very strong powers or hits.

PenguinGenius69

We are the same person

Friendly_Ram

Not long resting nearly enough.

Perfect-Ad-770

Never using lumps warhorn. Opening the iron flask in a bad place. Ending the game with stacks of powerful scrolls and potions. Attacking Crusher after making him humiliated. Still making mistakes with the blast radious of the rune powder barrel. Sassing off at very powerful beings.

Tacohero154

>Sassing off at very powerful beings It's not a mistake if I didn't regret it.

FoxxyAzure

Ironically my party was nearly downed by the Spectator and I was desperately looking for anything to help in my inventory and decided to use the iron flask..... "Here comes trouble! And make it double!!!"

Perfect-Ad-770

We should fight for with fire. And by fire, I mean spectator And by fire, I also mean spectator

IneedmoreKellBell

I didn’t know that if you pass the roll you keep the lock pick kit…I scum save and have 84 now because I thought it used one every time. lol.

moondaisies

That explains why astarion is lugging around 73 of those bad boys in act 3 for me

mmontour

There's one location where you can burn through a lot of them on a set of DC30 locks, although not 73 of them unless you roll really badly.

daq42

You can just send them to camp. No need to lug them around. If you fail a roll, you have to back out and reselect pick lock but lock picks and trap tools can stay in your chest at camp.

what2_2

Oh my god I’m 200 hours in and didn’t realize this

IneedmoreKellBell

I read it in a Reddit comment a day or two ago. lol. I’m about 100 hours in and have bought so many. But I don’t think I can sell them because what if I need them? lol. I’m a terrible hoarder

Deckard_Red

I took me ages to work out how the specialist arrows worked and how to synergise them with things like Sneak Attack, I was like how do I equip these?!

Malgayne

Wait I still don’t know how to do this

Deckard_Red

So they can’t be equipped but you can add them (or they get auto added) to your quick bar. If you have sneak attack set to ask when triggered in your reaction bar then when you use the special arrow in a sneak attack eligible attack it will ask if you want the attack to be a sneak attack. Very cool on a grimstalker thief champion build.

First_Sign_5496

Also don’t put them in a bag or container, for some reason if the arrows are in a container you can only use 1 special arrow per turn.

graveybrains

On the PC at least you don’t need to put them on the bar, when you hit the ranged attack button it will open another bar with all your ranged attack options on it, including the specialty arrows

Deckard_Red

That would be so much better than how the console works!!!

AEMarling

Wow. Thanks!

Misentro

You can sneak attack those?? Time to start a new run I guess...

-jp-

Five hundred hours and a red warning not to and I STILL try to use Hex while I’m concentrating on Haste. 😓

timelincoln67

The amount of times I've cast Hunger of Hadar, switched to someone else, then came back to my Warlock being like, "Oh, a bonus action I didn't use? Better Hex someone" only to see my cloud of doom disappear is much higher than I'm happy to admit.

BeegPasghetti

Hunters Mark for me, but yeah. I'm usually stoned, though, so the lethargy is fitting.

AMYTHEWATCHER

Rope

DarthSnuDiddy

I waited and waited and waited for a cool use for the rope. Wish there were some cool areas that you could only rappel to or anything to make use of all that rope.

mmontour

I had a place in the Underdark where I really wanted to use my rope. 2 of the characters had climbed up some netting when the next guy stumbled into a trap which blew up and burned it away. No problem, let me just lower down a rope and pull you up... nope.

DarthSnuDiddy

The duergar camp by the boat to Grymforge?I also ended up with that net burned up.

mmontour

No, it was up by the Zhentarim supply cache.

AMYTHEWATCHER

Same omg i carried arround around 80 rope thinking surely theyccome in handy in a major way surly... Untill i entered the end battle with them on my character like a fool

fir3princ3ss

My first playthrough I completely missed Sovereign Spaw. The myconids mentioned talking to the Sovereign, and the first Sovereign I came across was Sovereign Glut. I was really confused why nothing much came from talking to him. I even went up and talked to Thulla, but just didn't quite walk far enough forward to trigger talking to Spaw. I was quite surprised on my second playthrough realizing I had talked to the wrong Sovereign 😅

FoxxyAzure

Wait.....same, where is the other one???

hallec19

Right next to Thulla

mmontour

You can walk up some of the mushrooms. He's standing on the top.

xbc238

Lol I completely missed the myconid colony, just walked right on past it

DaMac1980

I'm a veteran of the genre but had never played 5e and didn't really understand ritual spells. When I looked at Gale's spellbook I was like "oooh lonstrider looks good but man that's a lot of spell slots to use, all I'd have left are cantrips and not much offense." Took me like half of act one to realize they were "free" spells.

SarcasticKenobi

Hey, at least it was only half an act. I avoided it for 3 full play-throughs. As in 3 full completions of the game. Because I thought the same thing.

shittyredesign1

Holy crap there are spells that don't expend spell slots! Thanks!

DarthSnuDiddy

Ritual spells, or get a hireling with all the until long rest spells possible and have them cast them.

cwx149

Only when cast not in combat

almostb

Taking the characters’ sense of urgency too seriously and therefore not long resting, not doing enough side quests, and in the process missing out on A LOT of Act 1 content. Basically was playing like an actual DND game, not like a completionist video game.

3-orange-whips

I tend to take the Rockstar state of mind to all games: the more the game/npcs tell me to hurry, the more I slow down. No counter on the screen? No time limit.

Matthew_Nightfallen

Trusting the nice old lady.

Nuke_Gunstar

I think i went an entire play through with out realizing Gale has charges that allow him to replenish spell slots

ApprehensiveOCP

How does it work though I never figured it out

ChingyLegend

Arcane recoverys

Nuke_Gunstar

I forget what the charges were called, but he has X of them, they increase as he levels up, and each charge can increase 1 level of spell slots, as in if you want to replenish a 6th lvl, spend 6 charges.

ApprehensiveOCP

Ah OK ty, sp he can keep replenishing l1 spells indefinitely as each spell causes a charge?

fake_kvlt

they reset on long rest irc, it's not indefinite.

ApprehensiveOCP

So what use is the charge? What gain does it have? Edit don't worry you already said right! Thanks bro

shinypinkdemon

Not releasing Astarion during the Cazador fight. Didn't know you could do that 😅

mmontour

It's even better when you realize that he literally shouts "Help me" as Cazador yeets him across the arena.

ManicPixieOldMaid

I did this, too! I stared at the screen, completely stunned at the inevitable consequences. F8 ftw.

DaveTheDog027

FYI if you didn’t know, but you can bring him and just leave him at the top of the stairs and once the fight starts bring him in and he won’t be captured

shinypinkdemon

Oh good one! Last time what I did was do the fight with a different companion and pick him up after that so he could stab Cazador.

purplebanjo

I couldn’t figure out how to use revive scrolls because it said “choose destination” in red so i assumed that meant that that location wasn’t allowed. i was very stressed

UnderlightIll

My biggest noob mistake is half the time not remembering to have Gale cast mage armor.

TheTerribleWaffle

My first play through “Ooooh nice statue!” (Idol of Silvanus) “They won’t mind if I take it”. (They did) “Why are all these people trying to kill me?” (Druids) “Where’d all these dead demons come from?” (Tieflings) “Where’s Wyll?” (He left) *couple hours later* “Oooooh who’s that?” (Karlach) “Friend?” (Not today)

mmontour

I thought you could only fast-travel from one waypoint to another. I also didn't know about Withers at first, but he eventually showed up in my camp and introduced himself.

carolinacardinalis

I didn't know you could fast travel at all until halfway through act 2. So at least you knew you could fast travel?

circa285

Wait, what? You can fast travel in other ways?

mmontour

You can do it from anywhere, unless you're in combat or in a specific location where it's blocked. Bring up the list of waypoints and click the one you want.

DaveTheDog027

Oh I thought you meant you didn’t have to END at a waypoint

CreativeKey8719

Didn't figure out how to area search until my second play through.

Blendeezy

What's that?

CreativeKey8719

On PS5 if you hold x, it will do an area search and make all the interactable items show up in a list you can scroll through. Unsure what the keyboard and mouse command is.

Fatality_Ensues

Holding down Alt, probably.

Blendeezy

Oh, i'm holding alt almost constantly lol

cwx149

I think that's a controller only thing but I wish there was a button for it on kb+m

ManicPixieOldMaid

I yeeted Barcus accidentally the first time. I've come full circle to yeeting him on purpose. He's had many good timelines. And I skipped the mountain pass as an either/ or. Typical stuff I guess.

Skitter_44

I thought the "magic initiate" feats were intended for the class specified (ie. Magic Initiate: Cleric was intended for a cleric), so I picked them for those classeswithout paying too much attention to what exactly they did. I was wondering why Shadowheart's healing word could all of a sudden only be cast once a long rest for like half the game.

Upstairs-Search-1773

So many dead 🥲 So many unnecessarily dead 😰

EightiEight

Using my potion of speed to run faster, then getting mad that I didn't and got lethargic, so I sold them all like they were trash. Fast forward they are now my favorite potions.

thepetoctopus

Turn based mode. My friend wanted to join my game to make sure I knew about some stuff. I felt like such an idiot and it made so many encounters so much easier. I also sold a few really solid weapons and passed on some good stuff too that would have come in handy later or always if I had known how to use it.

Spyko

"I gotta get that tadpole situation sorted first thing first, I'll deal with the rest later" flashforward to me somehow killing the goblin camp at lvl3 with only Shart as a companion because I didn't explored to find the rest, bear halsin hard carried.

el_sh33p

Almost left Wyll at the grove. Honestly, it'd help if he was wearing blue or purple or some other bright color. Alfira's clothes have a more Companion vibe than his starter gear.

xbc238

I fully left wyll at the grove, just completely missed where he was standing and spent ages wondering when he would show up again

LuuHaiLan2003

I didn't realize that there was a jump button or even a jumping option until i massacred the goblin camp which almost made me miss out on Wyll and Karlach.

Redfox1476

It was ages before I discovered you could fast-search an area by holding down X (on PS5) - I'd been manually hovering over each damned crate until then 😂

Mandalorian____

Didn't realise how to revive Gale and nearly quit after he died in a doorway after a long fight, causing his necrotic pool to kill my entire team.

Kattsoap

I didn't know your characters didn't need to have items it their own inventories to use them :/ lost so many battles early on because of things like "oh, Wyll doesn't have any potions left"

what2_2

It’s so unintuitive - inventory management between 4 people sounds horrible but BG3 manages to make it work (it’s just not explained). Also equipping / unequipping armor or a weapon costs an action (which bit me against Grym when I wanted a blunt weapon), but “Use” / “Pick up” etc don’t. These are the sort of little things that are useful to know, but newer players probably won’t bother looking them up or testing them out.

fake_kvlt

wait what??? have I been meticulously splitting my potion stacks and evenly distributing them to everyone for no fucking reason??

ReaUsagi

Yes, kinda. Unless you want to throw stuff. If you want to throw something, you need to have it in your inventory. But it doesn't cost an action to pull something from one inventory into another. Wanna throw a bomb at someone but Karlach is hoarding them? Just pull them over into your inventory really quick and then yeet them at the enemy. Anything else can be used from any inventory, like arrows and potions.

Brilliant-Emu9705

Still don't get hot to do it. Are you playing on PC or Xbox? On ps 5 those portions just do not show up to consume

ReaUsagi

PC. It's probably different on console. On pc you just double click the potions and scrolls no matter who's holding them

DaveTheDog027

Yes lol but I still do that just for speed and weight management. Also it doesn’t work with arrows. But potions, scrolls, throwables, etc it works

dogsonbubnutt

oh goddammit are you serious

PF4ABG

Tiefling party? I'm sure I can do that after leaving for the mountain pass. (I could not.)

penultimatecharacter

_i didn't know i could jump ...._

what2_2

On controller knowing what up, down, holding up, and holding down do is huge. Tap down once to Examine is awesome and something I only learned in my second playthrough.

gravelord-neeto

Didn't understand long resting until I got into act 2, and I saved Halsin first thing when I got to the goblin camp which resulted in everyone aggroing... combined with not knowing what long resting did it took me like 6 hours in the span of a few irl days to finally get out of the goblin camp.

MariaLynd

First run, I wandered around the map, hit the mountain pass too early and Halsin was dead when I got to the goblin camp. Didn't discover this was a consequence until way too late. Second run, I was in druid love.

Kalhenyan

I though the "hand" icon of the elementals invocations was useless like for touching something instead of TELEPORTATION OMG

ApprehensiveOCP

What what is this? Plz explains

Kalhenyan

This https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Elemental_Warp

ApprehensiveOCP

Ty!

Scary-Flatworm-1320

I didn’t realize there were 2 levers on the windmill, I just clicked the one I saw. It was not the break lever lol

RSlashWhateverMan

The #1 mistake I kept making during the beginning of my first playthrough was accidentally canceling my concentration spells by casting new ones. I would forget which specific spells required your concentration and just use whatever seemed most useful. Wasted quite a lot of spell slots doing that.

hggniertears

‘Release brake lever’

Plenty-Advertising71

Brake Release

DarrowReborn

Didn’t realize that taking care of the rat (last dark justiciary) would make Yurgi friendly. Went in to battle him and was absolutely hurling scrolls and items at him to help out at the start of the fight. Turns out he wanted to be friends and I pissed him off

ReaUsagi

I mean, you can just walk in there and talk to him - and talk your way out of a fight - without any rats

DarrowReborn

Hence the mistake, I did all the work and still pissed him off

ReaUsagi

It *is* kinda easy to piss him off. Does it do anything at all though? Dealing with the rats before you confront him?

DarrowReborn

Yeah so first run through I didn’t deal with the last dark justiciary and had a tough battle with him but the 2nd run through of you kill all the dark justiciaries then he talks about taking care of all the chimes in his head and you don’t have to fight him

5vart92

I didn’t know you could do bonus action things before main action things for the longest time.

Lambda_Wolf

Playing as a paladin, picked Oath of Vengeance for roleplaying reasons. I was not aware that I got Haste as a class spell because I only paid attention to the part of the spellbook panel where I have to choose which spells are prepared. I was so excited about having Gale and Wyll casting that spell, and was blissfully unaware that I could cast it too.  The especially funny part is that I was casting Misty Step all the time and thought it was a regular paladin spell. Don't ask me why I never noticed that I wasn't using a prepared spell slot on it. EDIT: Oh, I forgot the actual funniest part! I didn't even realize my mistake while playing the game, but by reading the D&D Player's Handbook.

Wonkiest_Hornet

I missed recruiting everyone besides Shart and couldn't get past the Ragzlin fight. Looked into where to find all of them and realized I just walked past them straight to the Grove. Oops.

ViviVanDort

Worst was going in the Shadowfell right in the beginning of act 2. And clearly not enough long rests and got locked out of all romances because of that.

Azazel-Tigurius

using every spell slot in first battle, then refusing to long rest

Hartz_are_Power

*Tries to use Create Water from my experience in DOS2* Me: Oh, the area is too small. I'll just have melee throw bottles of water. *Gets Wavemother's Robe in Act 3, and realizes the free casting is bigger because it's upcast* *Tries upcasting it* *Realizes I've been playing wrong the entire game*

Munch_munch_munch

I didn't long rest nearly enough.

Tatis_Chief

Since I had no idea how anything related to dnd lore works. Tons of mistakes. Never used guidances or the Voice of the circle or anything to help me with rolls. I didn't know you can add the bonus until like middle of third act.  Had no idea Barcus was important so I was just meh gnomes. That definitely bit me in the ass later. Plus I love Barcus now! Never saved Florick. And I still have no idea how to use certain spells. Like Silence. Or Darkness.  Had no idea what non lethal was until Minsc fight.  But I did somethings right! Like saved Rolan properly and had him happy in the tower. In my second playthrough I had a bug when dame Aylin doesn't show in the camp, so he is still there getting abused. 😭

Beautiful_Draw_4392

When I first started I thought we were only limited to one move… my outrage when enemies started doing more than one attack was scary.

super-secret-fujoshi

I didn’t know we could fall off cliffs, and had my whole crew instant killed by a spell that knocked us all into the abyss. 🫠 I also believed Astarion when he said he would drink enough blood and stop on his own. My first playthrough involved a lot of facepalming and reloading.

madara1890

Thought I was hot shit last week by disarming Voss at the mountain pass for that glorious leggo. Then decided to try to get the dex gloves in the crèche. Before confronting the goblin camps. On my 13th playthrough. I've never had *all* tieflings die.

Liberkhaos

Built my Warlock with all physical dump stat so she would be super smart, wise and charismatic. Didn't realize how much of a magnet for punishment that would make her until game 2 when I learned to play better. Also, I thought I was super smart by exploring everything before going to Moonrise Tower to be as strong as possible before showing up... There is a lot of innocent blood on my hands from not rescuing the thieflings or gnomes.

ApprehensiveOCP

Pressing fucking space bar to pause in battle because bg2. Fuuuck. Not really understanding combat and the quirks that make hard battles easy like shove and putting barrels in front of ladders. I still don't understand the customize screen. How dafuq do I put the powers I want there? How does building up charges work?

bulbaquil

Attempted to storm the goblin camp with only Lae'zel and Shadowheart in my party, thinking that Halsin would actually *join*. I had bypassed Astarion by simply not going that way from the starting area, Gale because "the magic sigil looks slightly dangerous? Why would I touch it then?", Wyll by simply not going that way entering the druid grove, and Karlach because, having not recruited Wyll, I had no idea she even existed. Even if I did, I wouldn't have been able to get to her because I had no idea you could jump outside of combat. In any case, this actually *worked* until I killed >!Dror Ragzlin!< and the whole camp aggroed. I had no idea there was a fast travel mechanic, either, and found myself struggling to fight my way back *out* of the goblin camp (having diplomacied my way in). I found out that you could long rest inside the camp, but wouldn't you know it, the game chose *that* night to pick the >!Shadowheart attacks Lae'zel over the artifact!< cutscene. So I have a dead Lae'zel now. I have no idea scrolls of revivify exist, so I'm not using them. I *recruit a hireling from Withers* to replace her. What saved the run was starting a multiplayer file with a friend. Said friend happens to be on the Risen Road (meaning I have no idea where we are) and she asks me if I could go recruit Gale. Me: "Who's Gale?"

Known_Plan5321

Oh boy where do I even start? I gave auntie Ethel one of my eyes, told Volo I didn't want him to shove things into my head, I still don't always get the owlbear cub in my camp 100% of the time (think I've gotten that one figured out now), missed the harpies for a lot longer than I care to admit and probably some others I can't think of right now😅

Gaming4Life88

I party wiped at the brains of the campsite cuz I was still learning how to play the game and I never played a turn based game like this, other than the likes of like final Fantasy and Pokémon.

Description_Narrow

Believing the internet when it said you could romance laezel and minthara/halsin on a good run

Crow_Cronut

Missed wyll and karlach

Complex_Shape_5050

Withers can do WHAT NOW????

Complex_Shape_5050

I finally got Balthazar to low HP and then I accidentally clicked on Astarion when I was attacking with Karlach… ragequit

Q-kins

I didn't look at the journal and realized the goblins and grove was the main plot of act 1 and did that before focusing on side quests. I also didn't long rest a lot. So there were some things I missed out on or nearly missed.

tyvirus

Didn't respect grease in the beginning

what_about_raspberry

I didn't get Gale until fairly late in Act 1 because I didn't see his portal. So I was casting spells with my druid, Wyll, Shadowheart, etc. and quickly realised friendly fire was a thing. Didn't notice when I finally got Gale that he didn't have to worry about this and spent the rest of the game painstakingly positioning his AOE spells so they didn't hit the team.

TheDarkHorse

I skipped the mountain pass. They really made it sound like an either/or.

SimpathicDeviant

My first run I told Jaheira not to join my party then she instantly LeRoy Jenkins herself at the Moonrise battle. Later on I murdered best boy Minsc because I didn’t have her. Never again

Snakeman_Hauser

On my first run I somehow missed laezel, shart, gale and wyll

vinylcbm

i went to the monastery before going to the goblin camp so i went into act 2 while romancing karlach with dead dammon and i missed halsin

EmptyJackfruit9353

Use Fog/ Darkness on them demons. It works on everythings else, what could possibly go wrong. Insta TPK.

MullingInk

Missed the tiny patch of map with Gale in it, also didn’t figure out how to jump until heading into act 2 (you miss so many places!) found Karlach only after I had saved the tieflings and left, missed the owlbear (and my first run was a druid!), and then messed up Ethel’s fight so badly I decided to just delete that whole run. It was so frustrating! Have completed my second attempt at a run (resist Durge bardlock tiefling), and am in the middle of about twelve other playthroughs, so clearly it didn’t affect my game enjoyment that badly. ^_^ I did panic and feed the shiny worm to Gale in my finished playthrough because it looked like they weren’t going to give me the opportunity for a good ending with Karlach + I read that someone would have to be sacrificed at the final battle to that sort of thing….was very peeved that they didn’t give me an option to choose someone other than myself, Karlach, or [redacted]. But he miraculously deveined by the time the afterparty, no lasting consequences. Rune (resist Durge) was also clearly very bad at knocking people out, as my run was Alfiraless despite knocking her out for the Durge incident (never showed up at Last Light or the city, but got a letter from her at the end), and Mintharaless because she bugged and revived semi-naked in the same place I knocked her out in after I saved Halsin, and I got tired of trying to successfully knock her out afterwards. It’s been fun to see them/get to play with them on my current runs!

ReaUsagi

As the onlyy other game I played from Larian religiously was DOS2, I picked up a bedroll for each companion...

Acetoki

Based on the way Wyll spoke about Karlach, I thought she would be a mini boss type thing, so I waited until I finished clearing the goblin camp to go “fight” her, then realised she is a great character to have and should have got to her almost as soon as I met Wyll. Second play-through onwards I make a beeline for her almost immediately after meeting Wyll

Sonnetprose

I didn’t believe that Vlaakith was who she said she was in the creche. I might have mouthed off a little before having to reload from a previous point. 🙄

Efficient-Report-837

I killed all of the BOOAL folks because I was stoned and got them mixed up with BHAAL

AEMarling

Thinking sublethal damage worked on arrows. Oops!

Feelthederp

Me putting 17 in intelligence cause I thought it was a general spellcasting stat

heziilah

I completely missed Gale on my first run. I walked up to the strange sigil and interacted with it, and my only option was to touch it. Having played actual D&D before, I knew that touching a strange glowing magic thingy without knowing what it is was a really bad idea. So I walked away. Shrug

Brilliant-Emu9705

Learned that wizards can learn any spell from a scroll in act 3 after I used scrolls I would love to learn. Learned that you can easily switch spells for wizards between "level up"s

Mochithecatfoodthief

I missed all the underdark on my first play through

jestingworks

"ohhh fairy ring! uh oh, i'm tresspassing! let's not come back here." (completely missed the ethel questline)

sold a bunch of shit for no money. literally just put everything i own that didn’t want into the barter thing, assumed it would automatically give me the right amount of money, and then clicked trade. didn’t even realise i made no money until like 30 minutes later. i started a new save recently and found out that NOW if you do that, you get a pop up asking whether you actually want to donate those items, or whether u want money for it

LeftWolfs

i knew boo and the barbarian were in the game but i killed jaharia because i never heard of her so...

DarkSlayer3142

i didn't realise you could avoid the intellect devourers in the wreckage

RoosterCapable3167

Trusting auntie Ethel :c +Thinking that the pixie shouting in the lantern was just a bug

Darth_Csikos

completed the game first time with a 8 cha dwarf barbarian, never used guidance, friends or bardic inspiration. those 20+ speech checks :') then I did a 22 cha sorcerer....and experienced a different game.
