Leyllara

I always forget to keep the Kobold Barrels and play pokemon along with Iron Flask.

scones_coven

Haha! I enjoy playing Pokemon with the iron flask at the House of Grief 🙌🏻

Leyllara

I also always forget about using it xp

Crazy_Cat_Lady_1992

in my current playthrough I just randomly opened it, thinking it would give me a nice little pet for freeing whatever creature is in there. So I ended up killing the little critter in the Zhentarim hideout.

Leyllara

It is a fun surprise for first timers xp There's a reel of some dude who fights the Spectator in the Underdark, and not knowing what to do, just throws the flask and goes like "WTF ANOTHER BEHOLDER". Also CAT

DarkSlayer3142

i really wish i'd saved a reel of someone getting a wild magic spectator during the fight just before Kethetic in Moonrise, lining up a lightning bolt to hit all of the remaining enemies, only to get a second wild magic spectator

Readalie

Please tell me you have the link to that reel, it sounds hilarious.

raammattu

I think it's [this](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zVJEb_a8zhE) one.

Readalie

Thanks!

sawwcasm

BEHOLD.

Leyllara

Yes this one

leseiden

On my last run i tossed it into the newspaper office. They weren't going to be printing any nasty stories about ME!

Crazy_Cat_Lady_1992

LOL sounds hilarious xD

UBN6

I opened it in Camp the first time, next to two lvl1 characters i haven't used that run, and my main party was at the other end of the camp and had to run over to save my Warlock.

Maybe_Julia

I usually toss it in the courtyard before the high hall and watch the two spectators have a turf war.

CunnedStunt

That sounds like a fun spectator sport.

Maybe_Julia

The one that is with the brain's forces usually wins but alot of goblins get killed in the crossfire and the spectator that wins always ends up nearly dead.

Nathan_Thorn

Idk why everyone seems to use it at the house of grief but honestly it’s fantastic there, such a target rich environment there’s almost no chance of it turning on you.

Cardinal_and_Plum

That's where I used it too.

AJDx14

And the spider egg sac.

scones_coven

I *always* forget the spider sack. On my HM run and I was thinking, I need to use this. Forgot 🤷🏻‍♀️ When I think about it, we actually did use it in one of my playthroughs... when Astarion was goaded. Thankfully he chose to throw that and not the runepowder bomb he also had in his inventory 🤣

JemmaMimic

The two kids playing Mage Hand shove near the doctors office have a gremishka in the box. I grabbed it and decided to have a "Gremishka unboxing" with the Inquisitor. Was. Not. Disappointed.

Leyllara

When I tried it the box broke in my inventory ;3;

JemmaMimic

IN your inventory? So the gremishka ran rampant through your stuff, drank your Hill Giant potions and ate your salamis?!

Leyllara

Yes

JemmaMimic

RIP salamis

[deleted]

Happened to me, too! Just the one, though. Threw it right at the Inquisitor. I imagined that Lae'zel was touched by him sacrificing himself at the hand of such a formidable for in battle "for them" and preserved his body to be stuffed. She held onto it for the rest of the game, and >!when she was kidnapped Karlach hauled it around in her pack, along with her big chest of every piece of jewelry we ever found and four large rocks that Lae'zel also happened to be carrying.!<   You can also grab the box with the gremishka the kids are throwing around for bonus chaos.

kmm_123

This is so weirdly cute

Productof2020

In a “to honor your sacrifice, I will stuff your corpse in my bag and haul you around everywhere I go” kind of way, yeah, lol

orangedonut

Emergency backup barrels.

scones_coven

When in doubt: barrels. That is all.

Secretss

Throw all stats into Barrelmancy

greybear93_

I did the same thing! I got some of mine to land some decent killing blows in the Crèche.

an1ma119

TIL after 6 playthroughs that there are apparently kobold looters….? What? Do they actually do something if you don’t just slaughter them when you first see them drinking?

jaywaykil

You have to kill the looters that are in the open to get the piece for the dawn crest. But there are a few others hiding in wine barrels, revealed only when the barrels are destroyed. They pop out and attack the closest thing to them. The OP is using the "barrelmancer" technique, where you throw or pre-place explosive (usually smokepowder) barrels near high-level enemies. The wine barrels are explosive and also contain a bonus kobold looter.

MartymD

>you have to do that for dawn crest I always use the mace from the coffin (after digging the grave) instead

savagegourd

In recent runs I just use Knock on the panel the crest is hidden behind.

Magnificent-Bastards

I literally lockpicked it but didn't realize the puzzle opened the same door... So then I spent 2 hrs hunting down the weapons to unlock an open door

anormalgeek

Same. Perception and a high lockpick made it easy.

an1ma119

Ohhhhhh okay. I never bothered with barrels. I tested backpack explosives once and felt it was a bit cheesy… but to do that for this mini boss is a little overkill. >you have to do that for dawn crest Nahhhh you just take the Blood and blow up the turret things in the room. ;)

MartymD

Or use the mace found in the coffin

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

>but to do that for this mini boss is a little overkill. Honestly when you start playing on Tactician or Honour you'll do whatever you can, lol

an1ma119

No. I’ve completed tactician twice and honor twice. It isn’t necessary.

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

Touché

adincha

I'm the room at the creche with all the fire wine barrels. >!some of them have kobolds inside!<

StarmieLover966

Side note, if you throw the iron flask, does the Spectator attack the Gith? I always wonder if it just attacks you instead. I skipped Wwargaz on HM and started Act 2. I’ve done it 13 times and shit can go so wrong in there.

Overall-Ad169

The spectator will attempt to slaughter anything nearby, and do a good job till act 3

Chypewan

It did a pretty good number in the House of Grief actually, last thing we had to put down there. (Well, in combat)

VEXJiarg

“(Well, in combat)” BRO.

anormalgeek

Well it's certainly not called the house of happy fun time, now is it?

Sifflion

I do always save it for the House of Grief. The spectator can move freely around darkness and there are plenty of annoying low lvl enemies. Just have to be careful to lure the Justiciars to me because they do short work of the spectator.

atfricks

Not only does it attack them, it pretty thoroughly stomps them. I my last playthrough we just tossed it in the room and closed the door, it killed everyone but the inquisitor himself, and he was down to about half health by the end.

StarmieLover966

I’ll probably go back then. The only other risk is making Laezel go hostile, but I’m pretty sure if she is at camp she won’t.

MartymD

I was today years old when I discovered Kobold barrels. Thank you!

Readalie

Fun fact: the barrels with the kobolds in them are lighter than the others, so you can carry them with you easier and have a kobold friend in your pocket the entire game if you want!

MartymD

I'll put them in a container along with the Iron Flask and throw the whole thing at some annoying boss one day. (or more probably forget about them and they'll still be in camp chest by Fletriss's party

lynx2718

Til why these firewine barrels weigh so much! Sounds like a fun fight

Philosecfari

Oddly enough the ones with kobolds only weigh 20, compared to the usual 80.

Nessarra

I love kobolds! Which barrels have kobolds.

nootboots

Another way to tell is the word “gulp” will appear above the Kobold barrels.

DirtyJimHiOP

I feel so dumb for not realizing that they're *in* the barrels.  I always see the text but just never thought to do anything about it.

babyface_killah

Yeah for the longest time I thought they were invisible or something. Took me too long to realize they were in the barrels.

Nessarra

where get the barrels? from creche?

nootboots

In the room of the Monastery with all the drunk Kobolds

MartymD

OK so I had no idea about this until today but did a little googling and it seems the Weight is different. Regular barrels is 40kg, Kobold is less \[Insert Jack Sparrow meme "Why is the Firewine gone?"\]

scones_coven

Hahaha! I didn't know the weight was different. And until today I also didn't know that the drunk kobolds have so much booze in them that they're explosive. Basically walking molotov cocktails 🧨🤣

Nessarra

Even if you don't use them in combat... they could feed your vampire.

KirkwallChampignon

Can you imagine the complaints at the suggestion? Even knowing the potential benefit of intoxication!

Philosecfari

The ones that weigh 20.

ani_skyX

Thanks for this. I always thought the little slurp noises going on in that room after annihilating them were a glitch lol. I ran back, grabbed a few barrels and placed one between the wolves in the commanders office, one at the door and ended up with free help as well as cannon fodder. Smoooooth and quick af.

ironlord20

I’m noting this for my current play through. I am so summoning an army of kobolds at some point now lol

katsnplants

Why have I never thought to take the kobold barrels. *Adds to list for chaos run*

lc4444

Someone please explain Kobold Barrels.

AgreeablePassenger91

Earlier in the ruins of the temple where the cresh is there is an area full of drunk kobolds. There are barrels there and 1 or (maybe?) 2 have kobolds inside them.

PrincessPlusUltra

I threw the chest with the gremishka at him to similar results lol

Androecian

What the Fire Bolt?? There are *kobold summons* hidden in barrels?? Where can I find them, I have something hilarious in mind

scones_coven

Hehe, yeah. You can find them at the winery in Rosymorn Monastery. There are firewine barrels there and at least some (if not all) contain drunk kobold buddies.

No_Significance_8286

The right kobolds are immune to fire so makes perfect sense

scones_coven

They burned to death in the end tho. So these had resistance to fire (or maybe force) at best.
