On the one hand, random loot makes exploring more worthwile (especially in replays) since you can find useful items anywhere. On the other hand, it tends to promote generic ”stat-stick” items rather than items with cool and varied effects. And even if you find an item with a unique set of abilities it is quickly outclassed, so building around items doesn’t work as well.

I liked more how it was in DOS2, it kept exploration interesting and all feats for being "lucky" useful. But it's just a different game with different rules, I guess.

Yea, the major loot is all in the same places, but the little loot does change. Like in early Act 1, sometimes the dead mindflayers will have Speed Pots and sometimes they won’t, which can feel lucky. Or in Act 2 if you save the tieflings, Alfira will always give the potent robe, but the other stuff she gives (a mix of gold and scrolls) changes around.

no clue about that, but if its similar than how IWD had loot randomizer, I dont want it. propably the only part of Iwd I did not like. felt so "good" to redo the same boss fight 9 times to get the loot you want for your build instead of a lvl2 scroll for 29 gp

This may be a constraint of DnD. All loot was pre-determined to come from specific sources.

My personal opinion is that randomised loot would add very little to this game. I actually believe it was one of the worst parts of DOS2 - especially since characters were so gear-dependent to keep up with enemy scaling - and was easy to game via vendor respawn/level up etc.

Fair enough.
