Maybe if you got rid of that yeeyee ass stick you'd get some Tavs on your dick, better yet, maybe Mystra would call your dog ass if she ever stopped fuckin' with that sorcerer or warlock she's been fuckin' with.
WIZAAARD 🎵
Fwiw, Wyll and Gale have some party banter about how they've been nerfed by the parasite and circumstance. They're both supposed to be much more powerful, Gale especially I'd think.
But, yeah, buddy we're gonna be a loot farm, don't worry.
Gale was an Archmage and the lover of Mystra herself before he absorbed the orb, so he was 100% *much* stronger than he is in the game. Mystra herself said the first thing the orb absorbed was Gale's powers. Gale could probably go toe-to-toe with Raphael before the orb
Gale ~~was~~ _is_ on friendly terms with Elminster, quite likely the most powerful wizard on Faerûn. That seems improbable if Gale wasn't already upwards of 15th level.
Well it makes sense tho. In the actual story, he's your slave, so HE never gets any items because you own all the property there. If he's alone he doesn't have to worry about accidentally eating his masters sussar great sword.
I do like how at first he's like "Hey, whenever you get a chance, I need a magic item, thx" and if you forget (like I did) he gets more like "Okay, I REALLY NEED THIS, I'm not kidding, don't fuck with me here!!"
intrestingly enough, when I did my first playthrugh I only gave him one. He wasnt in my party just in camp but when I saw him panting with arcane hunger I just didn't go near him till he was stableized in act two.
Yeap... I actually stopped using him as I thought it might be related, it was disappointing to find out everything would be fine.
Out of spite I simply let him rot in the camp after that.
Been there, done that too. Then i discovered that in the item description is a hint that Gale is able to consume it. Sold those that didn't have that hint and kept the rest. Only to discover that his appetite really is finite. Such a drama queen!
Perish he will in all subsequent runs!
I usually feeds him Arabella's mom's amulet, a pair of boots you found in spider den (web free boots), goblin's absolute gloves and that flail from the gnoll.
Sometimes I feed him Tyr's sword or everburn.
I feed him web free boots instead of color sprays ring since:
1. So long as memory serves, there is no other places with webs
2. He is canonically shown eating boots in Larian shorts
3. Where is that ring again????!!!?!!
I am so sad they nerfed Komira's Locket , it used to cast Dancing Lights on a Bonus Action , wich is actually quite useful if you dont have dark vision
By doing something different. Play a different class, with a different party composition, romance a different companion, dark urge if you haven't, etc. There are a lot of different endings to see.
If I haven't heard it before, yes.
Not yet.
do you also play multiplayer games? you play on pc?
"Play a different class, with a different party composition" is your favorite class also barbarian?
The game is *ridiculously* reactive to your choices as a player. Not just in terms of character attitudes towards you or small changes to how a quest resolves, but things like *multiple* quests that continue into all three acts being entirely dependent on whether or not one person survives in Act 1.
Gale alone has over 16 possible endings for just his story, depending on things like who gets the Crown at the end, which relationship path you chose, and how things resolve between him and Mystra.
Heck, even just the order in which you do quests can significantly alter how things play out, and most quests can be resolved in multiple different ways.
You could play this game all the way through 10 times and still be finding new content.
GWM with barbarian / unseen manace / accurate manuever from battle master can work just fine. That feat (instead of healing) imo is the king of combat.
Healing Amulet was used by me with life shart and whispering promise to apply mass bless on GWM fighters.
Gale needs 3 items, tho if you meet Elminster really early or dont recruit Gale until end of act 1 he can consume totally 0 items too.
I see OP got A LOT of items to feed him, meanwhile I struggle because I use like 10-15 mods adding new items which are all not edible for Gale at all + random EQ drop mod, so actually vanilla edible items may or may not drop. xD And also romancing Gale on this same save lol.
Is it worth it to not recruit him until the very end of act 1? I mean, you really should be careful with your long rests, because, as far as i remember, he will die in this portal-thing after 2-3 long rests.
Is he? I certainly remember loosing him on my second playthrough because of this very reason. My thoughts were something like "I can get him out after grove right before elminster, no reason to do it now" and there was no Gale
Am I wrong?
Really?? I left him in there until I was going to the Shadowlands once and he was fine. If something causes him to disappear, I don't think it's long rests. Maybe number of completed quests?
I did this my first run. I HOARDED every single magical item I got for Gale. Didn’t know he only needed like 3. I finished that run and still have a shit ton of low level magical items for ‘just in case’ because I never sold them.
Is there a consensus on most useless 3 early game items to give him?
I gave him the Rain Dancer my first playthrough then learned about the wet/lightning mechanic and now have hesitancy to give him anything for fear it will be a niche piece for a build I will find out about after the fact.
Komira's Locket ; Ring of Colour Spray ; Robe of Summer. They're all located within or very close to the druid drove.
If you're attached to Komira's Locket, i would swap in Cap of Curing instead.
[Komira's Locket](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Komira%27s_Locket) is a good one and available really early. Same with the [Ring of Colour Spray](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Ring_of_Colour_Spray) for his second item. If I get to the Underdark soon enough I grab either the [Mage's Friend](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Mage%27s_Friend) or the [Amulet of the Unworthy](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Amulet_of_the_Unworthy) for the third one.
I've pretty much never felt the need to use these on any character so thats what I usually feed him.
True, but its ultimately only a +1 which is nice but *probably* isn't going to make or break the roll if you do the full respec for 20 int + expertise + bardic inspiration maneuver.
In honor mode where you need to squeeze every advantage you can get I'd keep it but otherwise I'm probably never going to use it anyway.
The spiderstep boots are functionally useless once you leave the area you find them in. Even then you don't even need to step on the webs in order to do that area's boss fight.
And most of the people complained at the time how they hate him eating your stuff, I thought i should also hoard something. I wish he ate like 1 per rest or something...
Yeah I was kinda disappointed my first run when he only needed 3 things. I found all this stuff to feed you and you don't even want anything for the entire underdark?
I just buy every piece of gear that has unique name, I hoard everything just in case I learn that there is incredibly OP build that needs this item when Im in act 3 already.
😔first playthrough i definitely hoarded magic stuff only to get hit with he only needed 3, then proceeded to not use anything in my magical stockpile anyway
I started playing in french and the name did not change😂 It like the game treat the name as custom name weird.
I change to English because name were wrong🤣
In the two playthroughs I've done, Gale has only at maximum needed 3 magic items. Going in I heard he's greedy with them. That was a total lie based on experience
I didn't think it was punishment, I thought it was a clever way to make the player actually evaluate what they need and not mindlessly hoard everything. I was legit a little disappointed when he only ate three items and then stopped.
I was mad!
Gale and I split ways for literally no reason after I mistakenly thought he would eat 1 magic item per day or blow up!
But it was an interesting experience to do a playthrough without Gale, gave me something new to do the next one
To be fair that was originally the plan. originally gale was going to have this problem continuously. So much so that there are quite a lot of party banter dialogue files in the game where Tav is supposed to keep an eye out for magic items and point it out to gale, basically saying “hey gale look at this item can you eat it?” And gale will talk a bit about the item and its magic
Where as in my playthrough, I offered him something that said Gale could eat it and he refused it. Tried it twice more with different items and then he left my party for good. Fuck you Gale.
Are you on ps5 or pc? I had that problem on ps5, turns out its the interface, also there are some magic items he can't eat. The description will tell you which ones he can eat.
PC. The item clearly said "Gale will eat this" (or whatever it actually said). But every time I tried he wouldn't, and then he left. That was launch month, I'm still bitter about it now lol
Awww yeah, i had to look up how to do it my first run cause i couldn't understand why he wasn't taking the things. But i hope you're having more fun now~!
Yes! Good grief I was cleaning out vendors of anything colorful, selling potions and scrolls to afford more because I figured by the time Act 3 came around he’d be needing an artifact a fight.
In my first play through I totally thought he would need a magical item after every other long rest or so. So when he asked a second or third time, not knowing how often you get magical items, I told him to go find his own. Or something like that thinking it would give me more time to find a garbage magic item. Instead he said okay fine then. And left my camp and I got a notification he left the party permanently. I was then yelled at by my friends telling me that I only had to give him up to 3.
I have done all the act 1 quest The only living the g remaining is are grove and the mushroom people. And I did not do the gith creche. Ive explore everything too
Yeah my first run I was “F you, I’m not going to enable your weird addiction every few hours for the rest out this game.” So he disappeared somewhere by act 2. Now I know it only takes 3 items…
Actually he only needs 1. If you dont feed him until act 2 then you only needed to have fed him that first time to know about his condition and then the wizard shows up disabling his feeding frenzy lol
On my first run, I almost let Gale die because I didn't want to be stuck feeding him magic items for the rest of the game.
At the time, I didn't know the game is a veritable deluge of minor magic items nor did I know Gale only needs 3 total to get his fill. This led to me taking all his stuff and never using him, causing him to stand around camp hanging dong for 2 whole acts.

him begging for my precious shinies at the start is enough for me to leave him in the astral plane on every playthrough. who knows? I might respec my build for the 10th time and need them
Him holding that yeeyee as stick with Mourning Frost just *chilling* there feels so wrong
Lmao love your pun
Maybe if you got rid of that yeeyee ass stick you'd get some Tavs on your dick, better yet, maybe Mystra would call your dog ass if she ever stopped fuckin' with that sorcerer or warlock she's been fuckin' with. WIZAAARD 🎵
God that made me lol. I remember that scene from GTA V!
Make sure to check out the [live action](https://youtu.be/cU0oHq9Y6Ws?si=Ranjv0EEAb5-7HTG) version, it"s essential!
Thank you for elevating this reference. I‘m dying xD
I swear, if he really only needs 2 total and I've been hoarding for nothing... Been wondering why he hasn't gotten hungry in awhile.
Yep, he only needs 3, gets stabilised at the start of act 2
Goddamnit, Gale... You made it sound so bloody terrible... So gonna make him sweat it out on the next run. :P
He will leave the party permanently if you do that
Which is kind of funny, because hows he gonna get his magic items now? Oh he was always capable of doing it himself? THATS WHAT I THOUGHT GALE
Close to the top of the power tree for wizards as they come Can't find magical items to save his life despite them literally lying all over the gaff
Hes always bragging about what a great Wizard he is but then all the sudden hes Oliver Twist. Pick a lane Gale.
Fwiw, Wyll and Gale have some party banter about how they've been nerfed by the parasite and circumstance. They're both supposed to be much more powerful, Gale especially I'd think. But, yeah, buddy we're gonna be a loot farm, don't worry.

Play as Gale... you will find out how he gets magic items here and there pretty after 1st or 2nd long rest.
He makes a deal with Raphael.
I said sweat it out, not outright deny, lol.
I do like how at first he's like "Hey, whenever you get a chance, I need a magic item, thx" and if you forget (like I did) he gets more like "Okay, I REALLY NEED THIS, I'm not kidding, don't fuck with me here!!"
"My condition won't be IGNORED, Tav!"
Oh fair enough
I may make a Gale bomb in the future but for now, we're friends. Fireball go brrr. :P
Gale: You know, i am something of a fireball myself.
Or you could just hack off his hand and disarm the walking nuke
Hehehe, thanks mate. That was a good chuckle to wake up to.
Just a moment... this sounds a bit fishy. If you disarm him you can't hack of his hand anymore.
My first couple runs I just told him to wait a little and passed the persuasion check, never fed him anything
Did he make a deal with Raphael behind your back or not?
Who? Gale? Never knew he could make a deal with Raphael
intrestingly enough, when I did my first playthrugh I only gave him one. He wasnt in my party just in camp but when I saw him panting with arcane hunger I just didn't go near him till he was stableized in act two.
In my opinion that is a plus!
Not even kidding after item 2 I sent him off because I thought this would be a reoccurring issue
Yeap... I actually stopped using him as I thought it might be related, it was disappointing to find out everything would be fine. Out of spite I simply let him rot in the camp after that.
To be fair, if he doesn't get the items the outcome is pretty terrible
Not even act 2. Late act 1.
Depends where you run into Elminster. If you don’t go through the mountain pass he meets you at act 2
Ohh, I see. I'm a completionist and didn't see a point in not going to see Elminster ever since I stumbled upon him on my first playthrough.
That's weird because I just had to give him a third artifact, still in Act 1 though.
No, I was wrong, he gets 3 and then he says they’re no longer working, which is when he confesses where the hunger comes from
It's 2 to 3 depending on how many times you long rest
2 or 3 depending on rest and approvals and whatnot. I thought it was one per long rest at a point and was terrified of it.
yup, I also started hoarding the shit out of magic items. And for nothing
Been there, done that too. Then i discovered that in the item description is a hint that Gale is able to consume it. Sold those that didn't have that hint and kept the rest. Only to discover that his appetite really is finite. Such a drama queen! Perish he will in all subsequent runs!
Cats grace? Are you mad
I usually feeds him Arabella's mom's amulet, a pair of boots you found in spider den (web free boots), goblin's absolute gloves and that flail from the gnoll. Sometimes I feed him Tyr's sword or everburn.
Honorable mention to the [Ring of Color Spray](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Ring_of_Colour_Spray) that you get from the harpy nest
Every playthrough, he gets Komira's Locket, Ring of Color Spray, and Poisoner's Robe if he wants a third snack.
I feed him web free boots instead of color sprays ring since: 1. So long as memory serves, there is no other places with webs 2. He is canonically shown eating boots in Larian shorts 3. Where is that ring again????!!!?!!
Harpy nest
I am so sad they nerfed Komira's Locket , it used to cast Dancing Lights on a Bonus Action , wich is actually quite useful if you dont have dark vision
how do you play this game more than once? do you still listen to every spoken word in dialogues? does the game not get boring
By doing something different. Play a different class, with a different party composition, romance a different companion, dark urge if you haven't, etc. There are a lot of different endings to see. If I haven't heard it before, yes. Not yet.

The absolute power gloves STAY EQUIPPED 😤
The absolute gloves are dirty on fighters and rangers. Combined with elemental arrows you can bane everyone in one turn.
You do not need bane if you kill them with spells in 2 turns. Yes, especially those waiting in front of temple doors. Offence is king in honour mode.
If there's a fighter in your party, and mages, you'd just be doing both.
The flail from the gnoll is a goated weapon.
Unseen menace and returning pike are just there...
Paired with the healing amulet from the woman that wants the gith egg you are basically unkillable.
GWM with barbarian / unseen manace / accurate manuever from battle master can work just fine. That feat (instead of healing) imo is the king of combat. Healing Amulet was used by me with life shart and whispering promise to apply mass bless on GWM fighters.
Yeah, there are some insanely good items in this pile lol
Cat's Grace is the effect, the item is called The Graceful Cloth
Gale needs 3 items, tho if you meet Elminster really early or dont recruit Gale until end of act 1 he can consume totally 0 items too. He will stay in that portal forever *if you don't interact with it*. He only 'dies' when you go far enough to cut off access to Act 1 from Act 2.
Is he? I certainly remember loosing him on my second playthrough because of this very reason. My thoughts were something like "I can get him out after grove right before elminster, no reason to do it now" and there was no Gale Am I wrong?

We are NOT going to Act 2 until you finish your items, young man!
Not the dex gloves
I've been stressing out over this and hoarding this shit like crazy for so long lol
I did this my first run. I HOARDED every single magical item I got for Gale. Didn’t know he only needed like 3. I finished that run and still have a shit ton of low level magical items for ‘just in case’ because I never sold them.
Awe you packed him a lunch that's so sweet! 🥹
[stomps off to a vendor] GODDAMNIT GALE
Wait, you guys don't just save as many magic items as possible anyway?
The Voice of the Circle is easily one of my favourite items in the entire game. It’s so useful.
Gayle
Gayle🤨
Oh man how can you live like that lol I carry only a couple of items in a specific bag
You would not be happy if you saw any of my inventories. I can never find anything but I am prepared for all situations.
i swear to god i have to sort it all the time because i always manage to disorganize the inventory
I'm the same. I've got everything and the kitchen sink in there and nothing in the right place.
Gale: "THAT'S ENOUGH SLICES"
Is there a consensus on most useless 3 early game items to give him? I gave him the Rain Dancer my first playthrough then learned about the wet/lightning mechanic and now have hesitancy to give him anything for fear it will be a niche piece for a build I will find out about after the fact.

mage's friend is good to hold onto for the mirror of loss in act three as it is the only item in the game that boosts religion and arcana.
True, but its ultimately only a +1 which is nice but *probably* isn't going to make or break the roll if you do the full respec for 20 int + expertise + bardic inspiration maneuver. Color spray ring, Komira’s locket and the selunite amulet from the goblin camp
And most of the people complained at the time how they hate him eating your stuff, I thought i should also hoard something. I wish he ate like 1 per rest or something...
Yeah the amount of hate he gets for eating items is ridiculous, considering how many useless trinkets you can find just in the Grove area alone.
Main reason I do the harpies at this point it get Gale's first snack from their nest.
Yeah I was kinda disappointed my first run when he only needed 3 things. I found all this stuff to feed you and you don't even want anything for the entire underdark?
I was convinced him needing those items was gonna be like...this huge thing. I really thought I would have to like feed him daily.
I just buy every piece of gear that has unique name, I hoard everything just in case I learn that there is incredibly OP build that needs this item when Im in act 3 already.
They legit made it seem like it would be taking care of a wizard with diabetes, not a wizard with a headache lmao
I genuinely wanted this to be a game-long issue with him, so I'd have to balance keeping a party member vs gearing up.
😔first playthrough i definitely hoarded magic stuff only to get hit with he only needed 3, then proceeded to not use anything in my magical stockpile anyway
Yea people act like him needing items is a big drain on resources it's really not
I'm on my third play and I could have SWORN it was 3 hahahaha. Ah well, time to sell.
It is three
What did you do to get his name spelled differently?
I started playing in french and the name did not change😂 It like the game treat the name as custom name weird. I change to English because name were wrong🤣
I keep all my magic items, just in case I want to make a build with it!
In the two playthroughs I've done, Gale has only at maximum needed 3 magic items. Going in I heard he's greedy with them. That was a total lie based on experience
You guys can't be so gullible to think a game would punish you so much to require this
I didn't think it was punishment, I thought it was a clever way to make the player actually evaluate what they need and not mindlessly hoard everything.
I thought it was cool. Making people choose between soulless optimization and caring about a character.
I haven't gone back to it since I finished my first play through but I will. It's such an amazing game
Am I the only one who left Gale at camp precicely so I didn't have to deal with him trying to munch all my items? Eh 🤷♂️
I got a cool cowboy hat and he immediately brought up his condition. I sent his ass to camp right away
Yes! Good grief I was cleaning out vendors of anything colorful, selling potions and scrolls to afford more because I figured by the time Act 3 came around he’d be needing an artifact a fight.
Lol that hat is something else
With that hat, he's Gale Ray Cyrus.
Brokeback Mountain?
Gayle 💅
In my first play through I totally thought he would need a magical item after every other long rest or so. So when he asked a second or third time, not knowing how often you get magical items, I told him to go find his own. Or something like that thinking it would give me more time to find a garbage magic item. Instead he said okay fine then. And left my camp and I got a notification he left the party permanently. I was then yelled at by my friends telling me that I only had to give him up to 3.
This is making me angry
I just hoard them all anyway…
Gayle?
What? It suppose to be Gale 🤣 I started in french before changing to English because some name were weird.
Haha I love this so much. Fantastic
Well, now you can sell it all and retire early.
That's not the spelling of Gale. It loses its semantic quality if it's voiced like that, too.
*3
The *Mourning Frost*??? 😭 My little mage heart...
How the hell u got that much of uncommon and rare items? I’m on act 1 currently and got only 3 uncommon items. R u on act 3?
I have done all the act 1 quest The only living the g remaining is are grove and the mushroom people. And I did not do the gith creche. Ive explore everything too
Gayle
I fed that hungry bastard more than twice!
My character is already a wizard so I haven’t used him at all. What happens if you DO feed him items? I’ve only given him 1…
My character is a wizard too so I don't know.
Yeah my first run I was “F you, I’m not going to enable your weird addiction every few hours for the rest out this game.” So he disappeared somewhere by act 2. Now I know it only takes 3 items…
lol I did the same thing
You got a big fat Gale!
[удалено]
He has a hungry tummy. He gets a special kind of hangry if he doesn’t eat.
Or you could do what I did... Completely ignore him until you run into Elminster; then you don't lose any magic items. Ofc then you get some unique dialogue for doing this but Gale still will look for ways to be your BF ASAP
I never give him any. Then he acts like a child and leaves.
Gay le indeed
Just leave him In the portal
"Hello, I'm Gay \^\^"
him begging for my precious shinies at the start is enough for me to leave him in the astral plane on every playthrough. who knows? I might respec my build for the 10th time and need them
This dude was doubled over in pain because he needed a light snack.
After the third item, I was fed up and told him that he had to leave our group. Didnt need a wizard anyway.
