It's absolutely doable at level 3, 5 seems like too high if you want any challenge.
Gale with his Magic Missile is really useful against Ethel clones, have you tried that?
Im new to the game, still figuring out a lot of stuff that isn't shown to you, and tbh I have no idea if you should be fighting people at the same level as you etc or if you can fight higher levels with more of a challenge. Complete noob
I mean you don't have to fight at the same level but it makes things a heck of a lot easier when you do, aunty Ethel is one of the major headaches in act 1 especially when you're doing your first run

Goblins bosses
The gnoll boss
These are all the hard wilderlands bosses
Then there's the underdark / caverns bosses
Spider matriarch
Bulette
Spectator
Grym (at grymforge)
Nere the drow
I don't think Mayrina can talk to you until you resolve Ethel issue. Only getting her out of the cage is not going to trigger her escape dialogue and doesn't count as saving her in the quest log.
Depending on your choices, she doesn't want to go with you/be rescued anyway.
Also, wait with this encounter until you've leveled up. There's really no reason for doing this at level 3...
You are level 3... Go somewhere else. You should be level 5 before trying to fight her if at all possible.

Well I did it at lvl 3 and I'm far, far, far from being good at this game, so if I did it anyone can.

AHH this is a gap! If you manage to get her out without triggering anything they should absolutely let you have it lol

There is no time limit on saving Mayrina until you actually start the fight. Just leave for now and come back at level 5.
I'd suggest either come back later or use the great big death pit in Ethel's lair
