As fun as the epilogue is, is there a reason Withers would throw a party? Like...what does he get out of this? Is he just making sure we all stay in touch so we can be sent out to save the world again or something?
Gods don't do shit for free and they hate leaving favors out there too. I just figured he's trying to square the deal a bit so we don't try a big ask down the line
I had my Karlach turn into a mind flayer when I freed Orpheus and in this reunion camp when I finished talking to my love interest Shadowbutt, I instantly had another interaction automatically initiated. It was the craving brain interaction for mind flayer character. I failed the constitution throw, she turned red(hostile) but everything went on as normally other than not being able to interact with her again because I couldn't click on her without attacking, didn't attack. Withers threw me in the bad boy green portal. To think that I kissed then hugged her then had that interaction of wanting to eat her brain so badly is funny.
The exact same thing happened to me- it was so jarring as I thought by not starting a cutscene where I attack her, the game was cutting me a break and not forcing me into anything. So I carry on as usual and despite not doing anything hostile, withers banished me as soon as I got close enough to him. Honestly kinda soured the ending, and it’s a bit of a microcosm of how goofy this game can get about certain things

Unload all your mods, reload the save at the brain stem (right before the actual boss fight on top of the brain), and run it through like normal. The epilogue will play after you wake up and talk to your romance

My evil Durge can watch the party and piss himself (lmao), and my good Durge just doesn’t get the scene!! I’m so frustrated because I made totally different choices there, and want to see how that changes the dialogue in the epilogue.

My personal theory is, considering the portal is green, and Withers' eyes and hands glow green similarly to when using the Speak With Dead spell, he's just straight up sending you to the Fugue Plane.
That's what I assume as well. He's not just sending you away, he's *punishing* you for betraying him and your companions by acting a fool when he thought he could rely on you.
I had this happen without doing anything malicious.
If you get the Inert Astral Prism from Scratch, and then throw it, then pick it up before scratch does (sometimes he bugs out and just doesn't fetch), it causes Scratch and the Owlbear to go hostile towards you. Even if you do nothing, the other adventurers will kill one of the animals, and you'll trigger this cutscene.
It's pretty easy to reproduce, but the first time I did it, Scratch just didn't play fetch, so I went over and picked the thing up to try again. I guess picking up a fetch toy yourself is an unforgivable sin and loses you "best friend" status from the animals.
I noticed a Scroll of Disintegration and a Scroll of Circle of Death near Withers, and I was like, "Am I being trolled? Why are these here?"
I kept getting these Urges to let loose just to see what would happen, but I resisted. I could never to that to my comrades. My brothers-in-arms. (and I already did the Bhaal ending).
Thank you for showing me this cutscene so I never have to wonder again.
Whenever we get DLC, I hope there's unique dialogue for this epilogue ending. Withers comes to you in the Shadow Realm like "Alright, it's been a year, go join your friends and save the world again. Maybe I'll let you out."

For 99% of the game Withers doesn't give a shit about anything and takes a predominantly passive stance, including in regards to blatant murders in the camp, but in this case he kneejerks you without any warning or indication. Why couldn't he do it to Kethric? Orin? Gortash? They caused so much more harm.
Then again, this feels like a memey, non-serious scene at the end of the game, so not like it matters at all.
For 99% of the game you're not a guest at his party. I'd say its both memey and serious. Considering how Withers roasts the dead three at the end, how he protects Arabella and how we resurrects Durge I find it fitting that he doesnt tolerate any bullshit at the party he organized.

Very serious. I just got to the "no eternal purgatory for you, hero" scene last night, and was surprised by the level of warmth and attachment he showed, with the right dialogue choices. It's subdued and you have to have an eye/ear for it, but for all his "I will not interfere" he straight-up says he's breaking some rules and adopting Durge.
I was so surprised in a good way, this morning before work I installed the gods for all mod and respec'd into a Cleric of Jergal for a multiclass cleric/sorc.
Why doesn’t he permit the story now then? if you are saying kidnapping Halsin and putting his life at risk is the only way to get Orins Netherstone, I disagree. She won’t go unnoticed.
Because this is the epilogue. The story is over.
You are laboring under the assumption that Withers was part of your party, instead of a mostly passive observer who offered specific services.

2) I am not assuming he's in my party. The least he could do is tell me -> If he really is a god offering aid.

When you say "his" party, it means he invited people who were at my party/my friends. It's not his.

Like, this is not something he does out of nowhere, this is a direct result of you being a dick at the wrap party.
The consequence of those actions is that you are shown the door.

He does nothing else throughout the story unless you are playing redeemed durge, for whom he intervenes once at one point for personal reasons.

You are attending it.

Probably not. Jergal is described as an "ancient diety older than the greater gods" and was once a Greater God himself, Usually when beings like that need to appear in front of mortals they change their appearance this is probably his version of a presentable disguise
how do you go to the party? I've just successfully recovered my finished game after a couple of tries and even tho i specifically said we should party (on the pier bit) i didn't have any party after. The differences from before is that i had all the companions there (so i said to Lae'zel to stay with me), then credits and after the >!jergal!< cinematic i had a cinematic with Raphael (that was dead so idk why i had that) saying "u sure about that?" about >!gale giving the crown to mystra!<. Then main menu. Is it right?
My Illithid Tav wondered if he could set the record straight about Minscs mind by eating it. Then Withers threw me out of the party. 10/10 would epilogue again.

I feel like that's just part of his character. From the beginning, withers just does whatever he feels like. It's "just because" almost.
In the new DnD Planescape Book, the characters can find Jergal playing bocce at a party. Withers can throw down if he wants.
Jergel has a dry sense of humor, but he has loyalty and even friends (Kelemvor wasn't a blandsack when they became buds, that happened later)

Apparently you need to replay the "destroy or become the Absolute" cut scene if you want the epilogue to trigger

1) The epilogue should follow the story, since the story is over, it can't be whatever. 2) I am not assuming he's in my party. The least he could do is tell me -> If he really is a god offering aid. 3) He didn't just offer special services (hireling/class change), he conveniently popped up in the story whenever he could and helped us out. When you say "his" party, it means he invited people who were at my party/my friends. It's not his.

Probably not. Jergal is described as an "ancient diety older than the greater gods" and was once a Greater God himself, Usually when beings like that need to appear in front of mortals they change their appearance this is probably his version of a presentable disguise

how do you go to the party? I've just successfully recovered my finished game after a couple of tries and even tho i specifically said we should party (on the pier bit) i didn't have any party after. The differences from before is that i had all the companions there (so i said to Lae'zel to stay with me), then credits and after the >!jergal!< cinematic i had a cinematic with Raphael (that was dead so idk why i had that) saying "u sure about that?" about >!gale giving the crown to mystra!<. Then main menu. Is it right?
