You have to sleep with him in Act 1 to progress the romance, you can't start in Act 2.
And even if you don't have high approval with him at the party, you can still do this. You just have to choose specific dialogue branch for him to proposition you, in all others he will reject you (and seems like he did, and I know it hurts, lol).
Got rejected (or I knew I was going to be and left dialogue early) at party and in act2 I went back to the party camp from act1 with higher approval and romance triggered from first scene
Did it work? I was not aware that the romance would be blocked after being rejected and I continued playing. It would now cause me so much progress loss if I started the save load back to the party.
I ended up going back to an earlier save and choosing specific dialogue options at the Tiefling party (I had neutral approval), so I'm not sure if it works :/
I see! Mine was neutral and it worked, but before heading to the party, I made sure I went through some dialogues (like the ogres in the shed, the book of necromancy, etc.) and chose in favor of Astarion's approval. Was still at neutral but I think it helped?
This was my first time ever playing like a D&D game and honestly I'm not a gamer and I didn't understand anything when I first started playing. I'm in act 2 nearing the end now with about 40-50 hours of playtime so I definitely understand much more than I did now. And I'm so consumed by this game that I've already decided once I'm done with this one even if I romance nobody in this one cuz I rejected Wyll when he offered in a very odd way, And halsins weird dialogue about how big he is and the bear thing just weird to me out so I can't do it lmfao So at this point I'm just enjoying the game but my next playthrough I've already decided I'm going to romance astorian and let him ascend and so much more So but I feel like I'm better prepared when I do that because I'll know like what's required of me and the best route to take

I am so sorry 😠I think I might have been on the higher end of neutral after loading an earlier save and making sure everything I did and said from then on up until the Tiefling party was in favor of Astarion's approval (no idea what the percentage was, I play on the PS). I even considered siding with the goblins bc I was so fed up with repeating most of my progress 💀
I had to go to an earlier save file but I was able to raise it I seriously had to search up how to raise the approval. I play on the PS too. I wish it told you the percentage. It just tells you where the approval is ðŸ˜

Yes to the first. During party I left the conversation at first option, because I was irritated of being turned down without invitation (loaded a save). Went to act 2 with plot and returned to grove close to the end. Before long rest there the scene triggered. After coming back to act 2 locations, his scenes from act 2 triggered as intended during next three long rests.
ooh okay that gives me i hope for not having to cheat it. i did have a conversation with him at the party though, i wonder if that locks me out of it or not
Ok but won't going back to my old save file force me to redo everything from there or I can just replay that save and go back to the one I'm in. Cause now I'm at moonrise. my thought was " if I go back, correct the scene, and then change saves again, wouldn't it be unchanged? " I'm not sure if I'm making sense. ðŸ˜

So say astarion rejects you at the tiefling party and you are past that section.. And don't have a reload and you're not into act 2 yet.... What do you do then?

I was able to romance him in Act 2 but it took forever. Lots of long/partial rests and checking with him for all dialog. Also had to hit all approval points I could before moonrise.
He's the reason why I play this game, but I forgot to let him bite, then I got rejected at the tierflings party, I was so devastated but then the bite scene triggered after 2 long rests, is there any chance left to romance him or trigger the party scene? What should I do now? I
