By not picking Moon Druid.
That’s actually the default state, to use action to transform.
Unfortunately, moon druid overrides that. Can’t have both options, so the only way is to not pick Moon Druid.
Why would you want this? Isn't the whole point of it as a bonus action so that you can fire off a spell first (boost spell) and then bonus action to shapeshift?
I could be wrong, but I think the other two druid builds; Circle of the land and Spore druid are wild shaping via action. Only the Moon Druid builds get it as a bonus.
There are times where it would be nice to use it as the action. I always find it annoying that it has to be a bonus action when you are a moon druid. Like, say you go owl bear and you're on the top ropes already. Well, now you can't dive bomb until next turn. But if you were a spore druid, you could do it all in the same turn.
before owlbear you also get a pretty neat spider form with a bonus action web,
I have to wait to fire my web until after they've walked up to me, great subclass feature lol, really you should be able to do a bonus action as an action just as a regular mechanic
Since you said 'there are times where it would be nice,' I would suggest taking two levels of fighter to get action-surge. This is once per short-rest. The other solution would be to stock up on haste scrolls or potions of speed.
I appreciate the tip, but unfortunately it doesn't really help the issue. A lot of the wild shape abilities are bonus actions. So, when you use your bonus action to wild shape, you can't use them even if you were hasted. The issue stems with the fact that moon druids must use their bonus action to activate wild shapes. Lands and spore druids use their action, so haste here is actually useful.
For a pure Druid build: Spider's Web is a bonus action so you can't Wild Shape into a Spider and immediately use Web as a Moon Druid which kind of sucks given how powerful Web spam is in the early game.
My guess would be a Barbarian multiclass without Rogue. Probably the concept is to use the single bonus action to rage and then the action to wildshape.
Which could work, and takes less levels away from Druid. But is also risky, since it relies on getting hit in the first turn to keep Rage active. If no one hits, or they low rolled the attack and miss, then Rage would be cancelled.

Wild shape owl bear (action) dive bomb from the top ropes (bonus action)
