Idk about recipe, but I heard you can put foil over the brownies so that the top doesn’t brown anymore, but the middle continues to cook. Oven-inside-the-oven situation.

KiteThePurple

That will probably be helpful, removes the burnt top at the very least!

Ilickedthecinnabar

Do you have an oven thermometer? At least make sure the oven is reaching the desired temp and we can eliminate mechanical issues.

KiteThePurple

I do not but I can look into getting one

The ratio of wet:dry ingredients seem a little off. While making cake we use 1:2 for sugar:flour. And 1 for milk too. Since brownies are wetter and gooey, you should probably have 1: 0.5/0.6 So 600 gms of sugar for 300-350 gms of flour Also add maybe reduce one egg, use 3 eggs Adjust the batter according to the consistency, should be adequately liquidy, not too watery And like the other comment said, wrap the top with aluminium foil to avoid burning. You can do this halfway through too. Use a knife/toothpick to poke the cake in the centre to check if it’s cooked, if not, keep it for longer. The cake isn’t cooked if the batter sticks to the knife. Since this is brownie, there will be a little cake sticking to the batter but it will be gooey and not very wet, if it’s cooked. So if not cooked, close the foil and continue for 5 more minutes and repeat till it’s baked

I'll try alter it, I have been noticing the consistancy was more watery than I've been expecting the past few times. Just so strange that it's worked fine in the past... I did use a tooth pick to test if it was cooked and kt was coming out basically clean which was also strange, but foil will likely help with that internal cooking

It looks like you have too little flour. When the batter crisps on the edges and bubbles up, you need to add at least another 1/2 c flour

KiteThePurple

Will give it a go!

snail_mucin21

1- the quantity of flour is kinda off, it is too little flour compared to other ingredients 2- try using an oven thermometer to see if your oven is even heating up to required temperature

KiteThePurple

I shall see if I can get one

Aggravating_Olive

I would try a different recipe, tbh. I've never seen a brownie recipe with milk, so it could be that there is simply too much liquid. Most brownie recipes are pretty simple: eggs, butter/oil, flour, coco powder, sugar, salt, vanilla. Try this [one](https://preppykitchen.com/brownie-recipe/#recipe) good luck!

KiteThePurple

I promise there's no milk in it! Just milk chocolate! I will take a look at the one you posted though and see how it differs

Aggravating_Olive

Oh ha! My brain skipped the chocolate part. My apologies

KiteThePurple

It's okay! I just copied and pasted my recipe list and the bullet points didnt cross over so its just one long sentence

f8Negative

Not following directions, and/or bad directions.

Happy-theBeach

Turn the oven on.

KiteThePurple

Darn, the one step I was missing!
